Personally I wouldn't really mind the style change if it felt as good in quality as the earlier games but the gameplay just felt very clunky and limited to me.

@MrCleverRaven What kills them is the fanboys who are too obsessed over nostalgia to accept a change. Crash kept the whimsical nature and made excellent new mechanics like Jacking and pocketing them. It was unique. Spyro was excellent until Skylanders, which not only simplifies, but makes a comedic mockery of the previous TLOS games and doesn't have any of the decent sass from the PS1 games. It's like a modern Saturday cartoon.
@vgman94 I have been playing the ratchet and clank games since the first one came out, and I found that Tools of Destruction and a Crack in Time were terrible compared to the first games. Even though they were almost exactly the same in game mechanics and whatnot, I still had trouble playing them through. I don't cling to nostalgia like most people, but I think that Insomniac should just stop shitting out Ratchet and Clank games and actually think of a half decent storyline.
If you guys love the "Tales of...." games, you should support the games by buying them. Namco might stop making English versions of the new Tales games if the sales would't go well! Please buy "Tales of the Graces F" on day one, tell your friends about this and support the company! If you don't know what Tales games are, do some search on google or IGN or even YouTube. They're GREAT JRPGs, trust me. Don't forget to support the games and the company, Namco :)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this review seems to be missing that your coop buddies LOSE ALL their stuff every time they play. So if you play in coop your buddies are going to have to start from zero every time.

There's platforming and puzzles, and a diverse amount of areas (who gives a crap if it isn't other planets? Same difference still applies). All the positives are still here. This is one of the good ones. All it needs is polishing, the same way Going Commando improved on the first game. It's a good formula, but just needs more polish and work.

You know this game was ok.. finally insomniac goes back to the classic styled Ratchet way than unlike the future series. I'll give it a 6/10. Points off for, Dissapointing final boss, You cannot play as 4 Ratchets or Clanks or Qwarks etc.., The new characters are forgettable and finally the RYNO VI Protosuit. Points plus, Ratchet looks like in the PS2 days, Weapons are decent, Great level designs and thats how it should have been, Great soundtracks, Online since Ratchet Gladiator.
@Bryan28W well i would say if your a rachet fan then yes it is a buy. if your just getting into the series start with one of the other entries in the series excluding deadlocked not the biggest fan of that title. its really fun and is entertaining solo or with friends. the weapons are excellent as always but again it is not the most creative or challenging rachet but if you want to play a game that will put a smile on your face this is your game

This game is my salvation. I just rented LOTR: War in the North hoping to have my friends over to chill and get some late night gaming goin, but they ruined that game. You can only do 2 player split-screen locally, you have to go online for 3. So the designers probably assumed anyone who likes LOTR doesn't have any real life friends. The game is going back in the mail and Ratchet and Clank has been placed at the top of my game queue.
@JrpgGamer16 You might want to check your facts there--The PS3 just surpassed the Xbox360 in worldwide sales. It's only sold less in the US because COD drives sales here, not exclusives. PS3 exclusives are selling better than XB360 exclusives. (Uncharted 3 sold more than Gears 3 in its opening week) So don't give up on the PS3 just because of some skewed sales figures
@JrpgGamer16 The only thing that's 'dieing' is people's ability to spell. I don't know if you've been paying attention this year at all, but Sony had the best year for exclusives out of all the home consoles. Do these ring a bell? Killzone 3, Infamous 2, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3? All critically outstanding, and those are just a few of the blockbusters. There are still plenty of exclusive indie games on the PSN that unfortunately don't get the attention they should. Check em' out

i bought this game and really enjoying it, don't regret my purchase at all. This game is a blast to play especially with friends. But single player is good as well because clank will be your partner. I give this 8.5 out of ten. its like a party action adventure platformer all rolled into one. Love this game and would recommend its purchase.

I'm getting the complete entertainment bundle PS3 for Christmas which comes with this and LBP2. i'll definitely be keeping LBP2, but i'm wondering if i should leave this game in its plastic wrap, and sell it as new, and get a different game, another controller, PSN credit, etc. thoughts?

You know this game was ok.. finally insomniac goes back to the classic styled Ratchet way than unlike the future series. I'll give it a 6/10. Points off for, Dissapointing final boss, You cannot play as 4 Ratchets or Clanks or Qwarks etc.., The new characters are forgettable and finally the RYNO VI Protosuit. Points plus, Ratchet looks like in the PS2 days, Weapons are decent, Great level designs and thats how it should have been, Great soundtracks, Online since Ratchet Gladiator.

@Bryan28W well i would say if your a rachet fan then yes it is a buy. if your just getting into the series start with one of the other entries in the series excluding deadlocked not the biggest fan of that title. its really fun and is entertaining solo or with friends. the weapons are excellent as always but again it is not the most creative or challenging rachet but if you want to play a game that will put a smile on your face this is your game

thank you finally a critic who shares my view on this game!!!! overall i enjoyed the game but like the reviewer said the camera was a pest at times, and sometimes clank wasn't doing his job but for the most part the game is great. This review is much more fair than other websites cough* (G4/Xplay) who nitpicked the game for things that weren't even really flaws. Would I say this is the best rachet game no, but it's fun a new direction insomniac took the franchise in. lookin forward to the nxt 1

xbox only has the sales that it has because its CHEAP, xbox was a fraction of the price of a ps3 and thatr is why they beat sony but now ps3 sales are better , if you check how much sony and microsoft profited from there consoles, you'll see that sony leave them for dead, but i aint hating on xbox, i believe both of them are great but i choose playstation because ive had every single one since it came out and it also has a bluray player, and of course the exclusives such as UNCHARTED and R&C.

This game is my salvation. I just rented LOTR: War in the North hoping to have my friends over to chill and get some late night gaming goin, but they ruined that game. You can only do 2 player split-screen locally, you have to go online for 3. So the designers probably assumed anyone who likes LOTR doesn't have any real life friends. The game is going back in the mail and Ratchet and Clank has been placed at the top of my game queue.

@JrpgGamer16 You might want to check your facts there--The PS3 just surpassed the Xbox360 in worldwide sales. It's only sold less in the US because COD drives sales here, not exclusives. PS3 exclusives are selling better than XB360 exclusives. (Uncharted 3 sold more than Gears 3 in its opening week) So don't give up on the PS3 just because of some skewed sales figures

@JrpgGamer16 The only thing that's 'dieing' is people's ability to spell. I don't know if you've been paying attention this year at all, but Sony had the best year for exclusives out of all the home consoles. Do these ring a bell? Killzone 3, Infamous 2, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3? All critically outstanding, and those are just a few of the blockbusters. There are still plenty of exclusive indie games on the PSN that unfortunately don't get the attention they should. Check em' out

i bought this game and really enjoying it, don't regret my purchase at all. This game is a blast to play especially with friends. But single player is good as well because clank will be your partner. I give this 8.5 out of ten. its like a party action adventure platformer all rolled into one. Love this game and would recommend its purchase.
