It's a great rose, you're a really good artist. But I don't think this helps much at learning how to draw/color a rose. I would rather have seen you either explain what steps you were taking to draw/color or how to blend w/out smudging instead of you drawing and coloring at 50 miles an hour. Other than that, great job!

@lilgrudgeboy666 I had this problem too..i think it depends on the brand of pastels and paper, i have ordered some Sennelier pastels the best but not cheap and i will try them on acrylic paper, i got some cheap pastels and they would not blend..so i guess if you want good results buy the better brand! hope this helps!!

Your attention to detail is amazing... I would never have thought to include so many different colors in so many different places at the very start. I'm just starting out with this stuff. Art in general, figuring out what I'm good at. I can never use the white oil pastel the way most people seem to; it always so hard to see and it picks up the other colors too easily... Is there a trick to it?

@AProngs I had the same problem..you need better quality pastels, i have just ordered some Sennelier oil pastels which will do what you need them too with the white..they were made for Picasso so you know they will be good..not cheap so i am trying the 12 pack to see how i get on..hope this helps! :-)

wow this is absolutely amazing! i love the way you blend the colors, it looks very realistic, i was watching your video because i have to do a project using oil pastels and i think i learned alot by watching your video. but i was taught to use the complementary color when you wanted to do shading, instead of using black. have you ever tried doing that? or do you just prefer to stay with black? anyways i still think it was very awesome what you did n.n thanks for the tutorial!

@xdemoness666x you can use what ever sometimes i use black to make strong shadows or you can use grey's and blacks to mix with other bright colours so that when you finnished mixxing them the colours wouldnt be as bright ... and more natural.... thought its a bit different depending on what medium your working ... if I used acrylics i would probably be scared of using so much black.... :) thanks 4 the comment

@5jude4 you can smudge it wi th your fingers if you want thought i preffer to use other pastels to mix with each other ... what i advise not to do thought is apply the first layer of colour very strongly becouse the more you aplly for the first layer the harder you will find it to put more colours on top esspecialy if its lighter... thought i think for some parts of the drawing you can smudge it i guess the best is to have a go yourself and see if you like it :) thanks for the comment ^^

@JustLovesFashion i used oil pastel i blended them with each other ... you just kkep putting more and more layers on top of each other for the most of it... you can actually end up with some pretty realistic stuff ... but it takes a while and the oily ones blend better then the cheap waxy ones ... those are more like crayon...
