my son was born 12weeks early due to wpw it caused him to have asvt in my belly and wore his heart out and almost caused him heart failer now he is doing amazing and is 11months
I was diagnosed with WPW back in 2007. When I was stationed in Korea, my heart rate was 180 with a BP of 120/80. Basically my heart rate starts to speed up from time to time. While I was deployed to Iraq this past June when heart rate was around 160. I average an episode once every two and a half years.
I had severe maternal anemia at 35 weeks with a HG of 5.6, the doctor came to our door and told us to book myself into emergency to get put through to labor and delivery where I had 2 blood transfusions, when I was going to have 4, all that mattered to me is that my daughter was ok, and when she was born sick with suspected sepsis but not in a NICU and not on a vent/cpap or cannula, the nurse was ticked I came to visit my baby girl who I love dearly and am thankful for every day
Hey, Allgood, I am curious. Did you have cable or a rooftop antenna back then when you taped this? I was wondering because I have cable and sometimes when there's bad weather the reception goes bad.
I love your reply to him lol, my hubby once had a seizure caused by his prescription pain meds "tramadol" he had an allergic reaction to it, his heart rate was 280 over 200 when he woke up, they had to give him BP meds to stabilize it. He was fine, happened 2 times before we figured out it was his meds causing it, so now hes on different meds.
My supervisor is making me read this (not so) brief history of Electrocardiograms, in which I came upon the name of the three scientists who named this condition.
It's only been around since 1930, or it's only been named since then.
It was indeed named after Wolf, Parkinson and White.
Paroxsymal tachycardia is one of the symptoms of the condition. It means the upper chamber of the heart beat too fast.
Now, hopefully, I'm not going to get a silly minus for giving this information. People give minuses to comments for the most cryptic reasons I've ever seen.
At the hospital where I used to work a Code 300 was called a Code Blue.
I'm pretty sure that "Wolf" baby refers to the title of the disease, Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome.
I'm equally certain that Wolff is the name of the doctor or scientist that first discovered the illness.
IMO scientists have almost no imagination when they name things. For example, there are 2 different sounds the heart can make besides the normal pattern. They named this phenomenon Sound 1 (S1) and Sound 2 (S2).
i have svt i cant have any babies cus i have svt it would kill me and the baby she could have svt to its dangerous i felt the same way as she did when it hapend to me i was how and cold i idnt have a seizure i would have my hnds got num and my heart was racing 230 perminut
haha me to! but then the way you put it was like, why would you even click on that if thats what you thought it was....but yeah...i completley thought the same thing
The woman with that condition should NEVER have gotten pregnant in the first place since the effect could have harmed her and the life of the baby's. She was very fortunate due to the quick response of the doctors and the whole medical team's assistance to treat the mother, saving the life of her baby.
She didn't know she had WPW, dummy. It's usually something you don't find out about until something happens. So I would lay off the critical opinion of this mother. She's one of the few parents on Rescue 911 I haven't found fault with.
You do nobody any favors judging victim of traumatic situations.
When a person suffers a trauma, they still remember every detail of the accident decades later. I speak from personal as well as professional, experience.
As paramedics were not even allowed to judge people who really are at fault much less those who are in "true accidents."
Judging them retraumatizes them, and nobody has a right to do that to another human being.
When a person starts to have a seizure, you turn them on the right side, laying them down if possible.
The most important thing to do in an emergency is remain calm so you can think straight. You calm yourself by breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth in an even pattern, and deeply.
It won't be easy, but it's the most important thing you can do.
That's VERY scary. When you see the heart paddles, Makes you a lot scarier. We need to pray for Dusty and Jackie. They have to call 9-1-1 if Jackie's having trouble. I know CPR.
Did you not hear? She was having an episode where here Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome was acting up, while in labor. Hence the title (albeit it should be two "f"s).

Also, you get a positive vote here and there, but more than a couple of your comments have gotten so many negative votes that they automatically got marked as spam. So no, I don't see.
holy shit, when she was having the seizure - it brought back horrible memories. my mom used to have them when i was younger. so scary. esp. the first time it happens, you really don't know what to do. D:
I have WPW as well. I found out two years ago. I had an ablation shortly after to correct it. It took 4 hours for them to fix it, and told me I had a very serious case and was lucky that it was caught when it was. The scary thing about this disease is that you can have it and not even know it, which was what happened with me. I was lukcy they happened to find it while checking something else.
have u had open heart surgery for it? My cousin is 19 and yesturday (saturday)he fainted and cut his forehead and my aunt and uncle rushed him to the hospital and now this tuesday he is having surgery for it...do u know if there is a high death rate on it or not? like I know nothing about the disease...fill me in thanks!
If anyone has this episode on tape, please let me know. I am looking for a better copy of this segment, as well as the rest of the segments from this episode.
My childhood friend died on new years eve three years ago at the age of 22 from WPW syndrome. WPW is causes sudden death (cardiac arrest) in only 1% of WPW cases.
Today WPW is fixed by something called cardiac ablation, and they basically go into the artery in the groin, thread up to the heard, and singe off that extra circuit. It is a very quick and easy procedure, not open-heart, and this gives WPW sufferers who happen to be in that 1% a running chance.
thank u for posting that...my cousin is 19 and has had it for a year and yesturday (saturday) he fainted and hit his head my aunt and uncled rushed him to the hospital and now he is going for surgery on Tuesday...should I be worried do u know? like is there a high death rate or anything?
Very low death rate with cardiac ablation. WPW is deadly usually only if a severe attack occurs and the heart pumps so fast that it doesn't actually pump blood well enough to sustain life. This is usually Ventricular fibrelation and unless someonthing is done quickly, then it can be deadly.
Since his was caught and he is scheduled for surgery, there is a 99% chance that he will have an eventless surgery (i.e. he'll be fine)
I was given that running chance and now it has been 13 years since and I owe my thanks to Dr. John Wilson and the ER staff at Good Sam's Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. God bless 'em all!
99% of WPW know they have it & are scheduled to eventually have it fixed. the 1% who go into cardiac arrest don't usually know about it until that very moment.
I think there is a segment from this episode where a toddler is pinned between a sink and a tub. Do you or Beatlemoe have that one? If so, could either one of you put it up when you get the chance?
We have it, but it gets cut off at the end. We don't like to upload incompletes. He and I both have the same collection of episodes, so we both have the cut off version. If someone would like to send one of us the complete version, we would be happy to upload it.
When the doctor took her out of the csr I lost it. Wow. It's amazing in this show how the situations seem dire and people are thisclose to death, but they're always fine in the end.
Hey i was born on Novemebr 4th too!!! (1987 at 10:01am) haha but i never met someone with the same b-day as me, i was starting to think i was the only one!! LoL
This reminds me of a doctor on call for the guy who coded and died.
We tried for 25 minutes to save him, using the most aggressive invasive procedures there were, but it didn't do any good.
Finally the doctor turned to us and said 'Does anyone have a problem calling this?' Then waited for someone to raise an objection.
I thought 'YOU'RE the doctor. What the heck are you asking US for?'
Of course he could have been addressing the other physicians there. At the time, I thought he meant all of us.

220 times a minute. That's what the guy's heartbeat was, whom we treated last week.
He ingested half a bag of cocaine, hoping to avoid a charge when they pulled him over for a routine traffic stop.
Later, when he woke up, he didn't understand what was wrong.
I told him what his heartbeat was and he said, "Isn't that normal?"
I said "Only if you're a bunny rabbit. People have way slower heart beats."

People w/ WPW have a tachycardia known as paroxsmal tachycardia. It means the upper chambers of the heart beat too fast.
It's not as deadly as ventricular tachycardia, but other factors contribute to WPW that makes it serious.

pinheadfan87 3 years ago
It's dangerous, but if you don't give a heart attack victim 'the shock of life' they'll certainly die, taking the baby with them.
It's a situation I see all the time on my job as a Paramedic: choosing to perform a less dangerous procedure that still carries risk.
That's part of the Triage System.

The scary thing about this disease is that you can have it and not even know it, which was what happened with me. I was lukcy they happened to find it while checking something else.

Sheenbean000 3 years ago

God bless 'em all!

wait...are you the one is this video!?!?

i wish it came out as a wolf cause i thought it was a wolf baby

99% of WPW know they have it & are scheduled to eventually have it fixed. the 1% who go into cardiac arrest don't usually know about it until that very moment.

I think there is a segment from this episode where a toddler is pinned between a sink and a tub. Do you or Beatlemoe have that one? If so, could either one of you put it up when you get the chance?

Isn't that the one called "911 Swordfish Save"?
Yeah, if you have that one, please upload it, either of you :D
theultimatekoopa2 3 years ago
We have it, but it gets cut off at the end. We don't like to upload incompletes. He and I both have the same collection of episodes, so we both have the cut off version. If someone would like to send one of us the complete version, we would be happy to upload it.

Because the woman had that syndrom and the baby could of died. Wolf baby.
baybiiemma 3 years ago
why is it called wolf baby????
aword013 3 years ago
Because the mother had Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, which caused her to go into cardiac arrest while she was pregnant with the baby.

When the doctor took her out of the csr I lost it. Wow. It's amazing in this show how the situations seem dire and people are thisclose to death, but they're always fine in the end.
undeniablynikki 3 years ago
some people can be so dramatic, the guy says oh I might lose my baby when the doctor said that the baby was term.
