Why does this title have 7th Saga in it??

While it does share similarities to 7th Saga, Mystic Ark is NOT a sequel to it.

@NeoSonicStrike Dude, Lux is one of the Characters in Mystic Ark, and he is in 7th Saga as well. I think that means that Mystic Ark IS a sequel to 7th Saga (BTW: Unless you can read Japanese, the dialog won't be telling you anything about the backstory to this game. Since you probably can't read the text, how can you POSSIBLY know that it's not a sequel?)

Two things:

1) Mystic Ark has been translated into English by 2 different translation groups.

2) While sharing some similarities (LUX, Crystal Ball, Battles etc.), it's not a true sequel to 7th Saga. You could refer to it as a 'spiritual sequel' so to speak, but that's about as far as I would take that comparison.

Gameplay wise, 7th Saga is more of a battle oriented RPG, whereas Mystic Ark is more explorative and more puzzle oriented.

I recently played Aeon Genesis' translation of this. They did a pretty good job with it.

The game itself was pretty good, too. It's much, MUCH easier than it's spiritual prequel 7th Saga.

I remember seeing a Mystic Ark english cart on ebay over a year ago. Thing sold for $700. Somehow the seller had access to a cart and authentic label maker...along with some serious software to actually get that on a cart playable on US consoles. Probably only a couple in the world, but man what a find!

There isn't an English version, only the Japanese version and I got the Japanese rom, then got the translation patch for it.
