I've done fresh pumpkin and canned,it's fun to do it this way but it's really not worth the trouble to make the fresh pies if I make pies all the time.The canned is really close in flavor.
@TheMsUnknownuser there are a very big difference on normal milk and condensed milk, condesed milk is really thik and sweet, so I wouldnt use normal milk, it would make a pretty big difference
Your way makes way more sense. I have seen a ton of videos where people put water in the pan and then baked the pumpkin. I like your way better. Less water! I did the other way, last year, and had to put the pumpkin in the fridge over night to let it drain. There was so much water/flavor loss. Thanks for posting! Your kids must love a baking father!! I always did.
I'll bet they taste wonderful. My wife tried to make a scratch pumpkin pie once but used the wrong kind of pumpkin. It was awful. I'll have to tell her about sugar pumpkins.
