I don't care if the two-ton M5 minivan has a V10 are V18. GT3 is over 1200 lbs lighter than the M5 station wagon. Power-to-weight ratio is everything in racing. Otherwise, big 8.0 Liter V8 turbo diesel heavy-duty trucks would be ruling the earth with their 600 ft-lbs of torque. GT3 MUST BE FASTER!

Now factor the power of 415 for GT3 and 500 + (let's say it had as claimed 547 HP not 507)

GT3 power-to-weight ratio: 3080 lbs/415 HP = 7.4 lbs per HP

M5 sedan power-to-weight ratio: 4200 lbs/547 HP = 7.8 lbs per HP + additional wagon

Impossible for a M5 to destroy a GT3 like that when physics puts the GT3 WAY ahead.

The GT3 struggles from 60-100 and the V10 of the M5 takes over. The Flat-6 of the GT3 just can't beat the M5 in a straight line. This has nothing to do with power to weight ratios. Also the GT3 is a manual and the M5 is not. Therefore the GT3 is slowing shifting gears.

I can post several tests where the GT3 997 ran the slowest time of 12.2 and the quickest time of 12.0 in 1/4 mile. 0-60 in 3.9 secs while the M5 wagon is 12.8 - 13.0 secs in ideal conditions considering it is much heavier than the sedan M5, which runs a 12.5 secs in ideal conditions. IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Very good showing for the M5 Touring, but it is not a surprise that the M5 Touring won. The M5 has a 500hp naturally aspirated V10 engine and the GT3 has a Flat-6 (six cylinder) engine pushing out 415hp. The GT3 is giving up 85hp, 4 cylinders and is not designed to go in a straight line. It is designed to go around a road course.

An M5 and M3 will do well. So will the CLK63 AMG Black Series. The Black might be better and faster on track than currently available M5, but keep in mind; M5 came out 2004. The 2011 bi-turbo M5 should set new benchmarks against the Black.
