I was laying in bed sick, and when this goal was scored, my dad came running in screaming, "They won! They won!" For about 10 minutes, I didn't feel like shit.
Look at how slowly the forwards for the Avs are on the back check! Holy tits!! All three glide into the zone in GAME SEVEN of the first round of the playoffs.
@willfucker His obviously fake passion? Maybe you didn't watch any of the frozen four when he called it...he doesn't have passion for the sport. He's a dreadful commentator.
i remember exactly where i was when this happened! i was in 4th grade it was about 11:30 at night everyone else when to bed because they said the wild couldnt win... but i never gave up on them! and look at what happened
I remember watching this in my dorm room in 03. I never saw it coming. I was shocked. Even more shocked that Roy would retire after this. figured he try and come back in 04 not wanting to go out like that.
That goal was the final nail in the coffin for Roy's career and the Avs as a powerhouse. Ever since his statue of liberty fuck up against the Wings in the WCF in '02 the Avs have never been the same.

fuck you minnesota wild fan you guys got very lucky in 2003 playoffs you guys been my team the vancouver canucks in the round 2 game 7 that game was fucking bullshit!!!! minnesota wild sucks donkey balls !!! go canucks go!! this is our year to bring back the cup in canada!!!!!
@YoNumberOneStunna LOL wild suck ass GO CANUCKS. I mean Canucks finish 3rd and u finish like 12th or sum shit. Minniesota sucks dude. Canucks 2011 i'd like to see ur team make the playoffs! W000000000000000t RAPED BITCH!
@YoNumberOneStunna How come 2 Straight Division Titles and an Olympic Gold Medal Winner and Minnesota missing the Playoffs in the past 2 years makes Minnesota better?
i remember watching this late at night with my dad, both of us screamin' and shouting so loud we woke up everyone in the house, and we couldnt get my dog to shut up for like a half hour.
This was a top five sports moment of all-time for me. I think I woke up the whole neighborhood when this happened. I'm ready for round 1 to start on Wednesday. It's just too bad that the hero now has to play for the enemy. GO WILD!!!
I hated this goal, but I remember thinking throughout the series that Brunette looked good. I am so glad he is wearing the Avs jursey now... man I can't wait for game one.
Don't like Minnesota.....HATE Colorado, though. Still, the playoff rematch is coming and as a hockey fan I must say it's going to be a great series. Go Minny!
By far best moment so far for the Wild I remember being up till like 1 in the morning watching this game when I was 13, hopefully we have another moment like this.
I remember watching this game with my parents. I couldn't believe it, especially after Richard Park basically saved them in game 6 from elimination. the Avs payroll was like, 3 times the Wild's at that point in time.
Yes, the end of Roy on that goal, from that point the Avs slowly fell apart, no longer being a dominat team. Now the Powerhouses in the West are the Wings & Ducks. I love Minny for destroying Colorado, in the years to come they lost forsberg, blake, foote, tanguay. In a way it was sad to see a cup favorite get eliminated by a virtually unknown underdog team, in the FIRST round in overtime, on home ice...
@JerichoBeach Colorado had at least reached the Final 4 for 4 straight seasons prior to this,if not the Cup every year,so the fatigue definitely had caught up to them.
My favorite sports moment EVER!!! Not only were they a "Cinderella Team", they battled back from being down 1-3 in the series, and then have to travel to CO and face Sacik, Foresberg, Roy, etc. And then score in that amazing overtime! This win effectively ended Roy's career, as well as put the Wild on the NHL map in their 1st playoffs in franchise history!
Ironic that Brunette ended up playing for the AVs huh?
@jimmypop33 As impressive as that 2003 run was and especially rallying twice from 3-1 deficits against both Colorado & Vancouver, they have failed to follow this up ever since.Todd Richards' emphasis on offence should help bring them back torespectability, however.Especially considering in 2010 that the game is not conducive to the trap.
dude let's just see here...the very same playoffs the Wild beat hated Vancuver in game 7 after again falling behind 1-3 in the series...Gophers win back 2 back nation titles ('02, '03)...Marion Gaborick scores 5 goals in a game (12/20/2007 vs. NY Rangers), Wild earn NHL's "Hockey Town USA" title from Detroit for, among other achievements, having sold out EVERY GAME in franchise history (inagural season 2000)...
amen brother! my favorite Wild player. great playmaker, goalscorer, unbelievable hands, and from all accounts an awesome person...plus he wore my number, er i guess I WORE HIS NUMBER!
And your youtube username has the number 33 on it.
Yeah Zholtok was the key player who made Brunette's goal possible. Sucks that he died in 2004 during a game in Belarus. He'll be missed not only by the Wild, but also by the NHL.

I left early when COL was up 2-1 and, knowing Roy was hard to beat, thought MIN was down. When I checked about a half hour later, the game was over and I thought I was right, but nope. MIN won!
They also came back from a 3-1 series deficit against the Canucks.
I was laying in bed sick, and when this goal was scored, my dad came running in screaming, "They won! They won!" For about 10 minutes, I didn't feel like shit.

I watched this game back in the day. I'm a Minnesota native, and hard-core Avs hater (during this era).
When the goal went in, I jumped so much that I thought my downstairs neighbors were gonna call the cops.

I think what's more surprising is that the Wild AGAIN came back from a 1-3 deficit against the Canucks, and somehow managed to win that series.
I still can't believe JS Giguere allowed only ONE goal to the Wild in the Finals. That was kinda bull, but Giguere was one heck of a goalie.
