man oh man, you are such great guitar player, a fantatic tutor, a nice good looking lad: why the hell did you decide to destroy your skin wi´th such disgusting , ugly tatoos which make you look like a folsom prison lifetimer..........sorry , i had to say it...ber
it's awesome how in the beginning of the video i think "shit, i'm never gonna be able to play this!" but by the end of the lesson i actually find myself playing it very accurately. i guess it shows how good a teacher this man is.
thanks for the window showing the fingering patterns. I'm not a great guitarist or one to brag as I have a long ways to go. So I still need the box help. Thanks again.
HAHAH he went from blazing fast guitar to the good old blues. love it. this guy is the shit! i wish i could jam with him some day. he has helped me a lot with my technique...CLICK ON MY CHANNEL FOR PROOF OF WHAT THESE GUYS CAN DO FOR YOU
@Thorbear632 Well my good sir, I'm 22 years old. And let's just stop this here, cause clearly we're not going to agree on this. And you're certainly not going to change my mind on this.
@chimunda Ok, if you want to believe that, then fine. But it's bullshit, Albert King or Clapton couldn't play speed metal, they certainly couldn't shred, cause it's two different things.
And if you wanna play blues right, that's gotta be your focus.
But let's just agree to disagree, cause clearly you can't be reasoned with. And your certainly not gonna change my mind on this.
@yohanbone yes they could play fast but they had a feel to them. It wasn't just melt-your-face-off licks and runs. Again I'm not bashing this guy or metal, this guy is awesome and I play a lot of metal. There r a few exceptions to shredders not being great at blues, but not usually. And I clearly see y. There two different styles and have a completely different feel and technique. Usually. Lol a lot of usuallys
you guys need to shut up about that his playing style isnt good for blues. Just because he has tattoos doesnt make his playing style metal. For all we know, maybe he even started of with blues. He shows us that he uses a more subtle vibrato in blues playing and a heavy long thick vibrato in metal playing. This guy kicks ass.
This is something I don't overly like about shredders. No offense to this guy, he's phenomenal and can do things I wish I could, but shredders usually don't do good on blues. They usually don't have a good feel to it it's rushed. Again no offense but iv observed this and it encourages me to work on blues as much as metal.
@MrSum10ne what about stevie ray vaughan or jimi hendrix, those guys could shred the blues to pieces but still kept the feel, but yes alot of metal guitarists aren't going to be as good at the blues cos its not what they play usualy :p
Too bad, I appreciate the way this guy teaches and his ability to play but I honestly just don't dig the licks. They don't seem genuinely bluesy to me, maybe it's knowing his style but the heavy fast sound comes through. I could maybe imagine the lick in a solo, but it feels disjointed or something.
Ya know, it seems as if every blues player rocks the same scales over and over and play the same cliche licks but it still never gets old with me. It is just a cool genre for guitar players to learn. If you start out playing guitar and the first style you learn is blues, it gives you a good foundation. Blues guitarists don't necessarily play the fastest, but that doesn't matter. It's not about speed.
I have to agree...your phrasing and use of dynamics is quite impressive. Nice to see someone who is well versed in different styles doing these lessons again. It reminds me of good 'ol Marty.
@naza8888 Clapton ain't slow, the name "Slowhand" was ironic, Clapton is one of the few guys who can play really fast and still have the same feeling of the blues greats like B.B. King, Albert King, Freddie King, and Buddy Guy who was a huge influence of Clapton and maybe the original spring of this style of playing.
And no, this guy doesn't even sound close to Clapton.
@naza8888 Yeah, I've only checked out one of those, and then I stopped watching his videos, but this had Clapton in the title, so I clicked it.
Personally I don't think that you can learn two so different styles of music and play them both well. You can't be a metal shredder and a blues guy, just doesn't work that way.
When you get to that technical speed metal level you just loose the soul in your playing. And this video certainly proofed that to me.
@kassemir He has no soul in his playing because he can play metal? And this video "PROOFED that to you"!!! Really? Surely, you can't be serious.
Dave, you kick ass! You're a great teacher, very articulate, well spoken and you "PROOFED" (haha) to me that you CAN play! Pay no attention to guys like this.
@Thorbear632 Well, go listen to Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan, Albert King, B.B. King, or Freddie King, and you'll hear what playing blues means.
And what I was saying was that if you learn to play speed metal and make that you're mark of expertise then you can't play blues. And vice versa, Clapton couldn't do a speed metal record if he wanted to.
Oh, and yeah, I misspelled a word, big fucking whoop, English isn't my first language, So fuck you!!
@kassemir Wow! You've lowered yourself to name calling over the internet, how am I not shocked that YOU would resort to such a thing! Your "advanced" vocabulary is not impressing me one bit. Stay in your room and keep believing that metal players CAN NOT play with soul or feel. Maybe you'll learn something for your 13th birthday (Judging by the level of intellect displayed in your comments, I'm assuming you're not quite a teenager yet)

@kassemir
I beg to differ.
Being an expert in one field doesn't not limit you to being good in another field.
Just because he didn't show "soul" in this video doesn't mean he lacks it when he plays alone.
So you saying a speed metal-ist can not play blues is rather far fetched.
I have listened to all those guys you mentioned up there, just because they don't play speed metal publicly, doesn't mean they can't play it.
