I love NYC! And even though the Subway is a piece of shit compared to the one here in DC.. I like its complexity, coverage and the fact that it runs 24/7 and has express lines.

The NYC subway is one of the few subway systems that run 24/7. I'm on the F all the time plus I'm from Long Island so if I wanna get home quicker I have the option of taking the subway home or the LIRR. I fall asleep on the train all the time and no one messes with me. Most people are too paranoid to catch a quick nap on the train. Its really not that bad, trust me. Take it from someone who's been doing it for a long time.

i live in nyc and nyc subways are nasty.  no noticeable improvements over the years at all.. sure maybe a few new subway carts have arrived, but still crappy services, graffitti everywhere, rats, trash and etc..... the mta keep raising the fare but they don't even do anything with our money except buy themselves new houses. in some of the stations, there is no one even working behind the token booth, wtf is that? THE FUCKING MTA IS STEALING OVER MONEY FUCK THEM!

I"ve been in a subway before - in Budapest,Vienna and Prague. Riding the subway is a great experience. The subway is the most reliable type of traffic ever made. Go to Los Angeles or just to the nearest city you live next to and try it ( I highly reccomend :) )

while it looks similar to the Q(i didnt see the remake of the warriors if thats what youre talking about,many movies use poetic license when filming)the train here is an IRT(numbered lines) car (R62? type) it is shorter by 25 feet than the Q, has only 3 double doorways each side vs 4 on Q(R68type) and all seats are parallel to the car sides vs foward/rear facing and parallel integrated seating on the Q

Okay, first of all, NYC has the lowest crime rates in the USA. There are NO gangs in the subway. In fact, studies have shown that the chance of something bad happening in the subway is the same as getting hit by lightning. IMO, the trains in NYC don't stink. However, I do not touch the pole. Who knows how many sick people touch it. And that line is the 1 going to south ferry. Same seats, not automated voice, and the WTC station is visible.

The NYC Subway is my favorite, hands down. That being said, I wouldn't go so far as to say that there are *no* gangs in the NYC subway. I've seen them, especially outside Midtown/Downtown Manhattan. Gangsters keep a low profile in midtown/downtown due to the heavy police presence in those areas. I've ridden the subway at all hours. The key is to ride in the conductor (center) car if things feel iffy..or the front car on an one-person-operated train like the G (weekends/nights), for example.

That's the (1) train headed towards South Ferry. From 0:21 to about 0:35, the train heads directly through Ground Zero. What you see is a shell for the future station but if those walls were taken down, there would be pure daylight beaming into the tunnels.
