@rgjmce666 Are you kidding me? Woods makes no difference electrically. ACOUSTICALLY they do. But pickups are magnetic and only care about the strings from the nut to the saddles. Not the woods.
@rgjmce666 I know I probably sound like an asshole but I'm just trying to help you out actually. There's (for whatever reason) a lot of myths around the electric guitar and frankly 99% of them are crap passed down from a bunch of dead guys who were stoned when they said that stuff.
the low frets wer for the large jazz tapewound? strings. im not sure what type of strings they were but they sure were large strings. so they designed the frets to be low for the huge strings!!
Make no mistake, these were both absolutely GORGEOUS guitars, and Carl and I both loved the hell out of everything about them other than the frets - the frets STARTED OUT low on these models, but these two - being all original - were so low that the guitars were very difficult to play. If you were going to seriously gig either of these, you'd want a refret pronto. Great collector's condition though, and a pleasure to spend time with. Oh, the Dr Z is a Z-28, other amp's a Victoria Two Stroke.

les pauls are ment for blues and hard rock and any other form of rock music including heavy and thrash and black metal. the sg isn't as versitile as the les paul because it doen't have as great tonal qualities as the les paul
like me. i like gibsons but i prefer fenders. i think fenders have a unique sound, whereas some gibsons sound like other guitars. if i listen to a cd, alot of the time i can tell if its a fender. love the tone.
i wouldnt say les paul failed to renew his endorsment deal, he was going through a divorse and didnt want his soon-to-be ex getting all of the money so he worked out a deal with gibson to hold off on putting his mane on any more guitars until the divorce was finalized.
That out of phase humbucker sounded good. I may have to get a 3H guitar and try that. (got my strat wired up so any pickup can be out of phase, all 3 can be on at once)
They're both going into two different amps. That's why they sound different not the fucking wood/shape.

@TheGargoyleLives les pauls and sgs sound different anyway
rgjmce666 3 weeks ago
@rgjmce666 No not really.
TheGargoyleLives 3 weeks ago
@TheGargoyleLives If you get the same exact pots/pickups/wiring, then and only then will they sound the same.
TheGargoyleLives 3 weeks ago
@TheGargoyleLives The player of course makes a HUGE if not the most difference as well.
TheGargoyleLives 3 weeks ago
@TheGargoyleLives you must be deaf then, although you are right, the player makes the biggest different, the wood makes a difference to tone

The SG sounds soo funky! Both certainly have original PAFs humbuckers, but sound completely different, not only because of the body shape.
