I hate vista, I hate it with all my gamer and programmer soul. Its too incompatible with new and old software, and with the programnmings tools. The only point on favor could be that has a better graphic appearence, but that its not free it costs half of your graphic memory, then you need more for some video games.

xp seems great 4 games. iv got an xps and i have company of heroes, arma, world in conflict, all of the original half lifes. gunman chronicals. halo1 and 2, crysis, and soon arma 2. it seems to all run pretty smooth on high graphics.

Vista is not a memory pig at all. It stores RAM so that you can use it for later use. Oh and there are no problems with drivers.

If you are trying to run it on a machine from 2004, of course you are going to have problems.

To the creator of this video. YOUR SPECS ARE HORRIBLE. That's why you can't run Vista well. You probably have Vista's minimum specs or below. The minimum is just to RUN it it doesn't mean it will work good. Just like if you run Crysis with minimum specs it will suck. So pretty much in order to get a good experience with Vista you need at least 2 Gigs of ram, a Core 2 Duo, and a 7800 or up video card.

You need more RAM with Vista. Vista is a much better OS. It took me a while because I really had my XP PRO tweaked just the way I wanted it, but Vista is just as tweakable if not more.

I run a Core 2 Quad 2.33 ghz with 4 gig RAM and Vista is smooth as butter.

That RAM 'eating' because of something called SuperFetch. It loads programs you use a lot into the RAM so they launch a lot faster when you use them a lot. It uses the free RAM memory that you're not using anyway. Smart isn't it? When a program needs it, it's cleared. Windows itself uses around 200-300MB. I know people like you. You just base your opinion on what everyone yells. That's why a lot of people think Vista stucks while it really doesn't. Esp since SP1 it's fast, stable and secure.
