There was no walk ways on our boom. At most there was two guys pulling cable with the operator working the drum. I worked on mostly American 999, 9310, and Manitowoc 4100 and 4500 and sometimes the Linkbelt 418 and 518. At the end I was working on the America 11320. No walkways on anything I worked on, and never more than two guys pulling.
You mentioned the walkways on the boom, That reminded me of when I was building cranes for a living. The part I hated was walking the boom to pull the drum cables out for the block and ball.
@bulldog0046 the rest of the crane has walkways on it but the jib doesnt. was there not alot of foot space on the walkway? ive seen some guys pulling cable out, usually has about 6-7 guys pulling
