I pray in heaven's name Microsoft would come up to Nintendo to remake for 3DS, Sure I can play it anytime I set up my N64 but I want this game on a new console.
When I played this as a young teenager, this boss was next to impossible - it took just about everything to beat him and those asteroids he showered on you were next to impossible to dodge. And I felt that I was pretty good at the game too, even at that young age.
All the same, you did a nice job of not losing too much health (I don't think I found every single ammo upgrade) and keeping up a good offense.
A fun game, for what it's worth. Too bad this fight is followed by a Floyd mission.

Why does everyone think this boss is hard? It's the exact same with SA-X from Metroid Fusion. It's only hand of you don't know what your doing. Every boss in this game can only be harmed at certain times, not just points.

Ah, this game. Rented it as a kid. So naturally, thanks to the time-consuming Tribal hunt, I never managed to complete it... I always thought it was really cool though. About a decade later I return to the game on emulator to finish what I started. And what I find is a DAMN HARD FINAL BOSS. At least you didn't get that lightning attack thrown at you. Fail to dodge that and you get trashed!
i need 1 more piece to fight mizar and i need to save all tribals but i was kid when i played this game in 1999 or 2000 and i didnt know you need to save the tribals to get a piece what i did was kill the tribals because it was funny

But then they made Mizar so FFUUUCCCKKKKing hard.... I am no good when I have to shoot with no automatic aim. I just can't finish it. Lucky for me youtube can show me the ending of what I have missed.
I feel sorry for your loss. Because of RARE being owned by Microsoft and Microsoft not having this game on their XBoxLive Arcade yet, I don't think there is any other way to play this game unless if you got an N64 console.
I wish they would put this game onto the Wii's Virtual Console, but as I have already said, RARE is now owned by Microsoft and Nintendo does not put RARE games on their VC unless if it was from one of their franchises that RARE developed for Ninty

@chuy8hansolo You get the stabilzer after collecting all the tribals in the game. they must be alive. when you do this, go to Mizars Pyramid and talk to Jeff inside. talk to him three times I think and the converstation will keep changing and then you get your stabilzer. Refer to my walkthrough of the game if you must for all tribals and such. 8)
it seems like every time i fight this dude, he *has* to use the electric death ball ray thingy...three times in a row. in slow mo. so when i get to the final section of this battle, i have about 3 health squares left. ><
@Pe721 the colored keys you mean? they pretty much just unlocked certain routes for certain characters to obtain an item or more tribals. I think Lupus was the only one that didnt obtain a key. I forget really ;p
@Pe721 if you did two trys you probably faced the first mizar and also you said u were looking for the "trolls" so u probably didn't get to this point since you need them to get to this point.

@lazerleon0100 no no no, Ninja Gaiden games are WAY harder than Jet Force Gemini ;p but yes, this is one of the N64 greats! I owned all but 1, maybe 2 of the Rare games. This and Perfect Dark were my favorite. 8)

@Bond335 well, when an ammo capacity crate pick-up gets collected, it can only be collected once even if any of the 3 characters can reach the same location to obtain it. this is my original file from when I was a kid and I tried to max out Juno with the homing as much as I could because I knew how tough the final boss was. I faught mizar first at a friends house playing as Floyd for him. then I got the game for Christmas I think... I tried making Vela get Tri-Rockets and forget wich for Lupus..
I just sort of realized that earlier today when I tried searching. I thought, "Oh shit, what if I just sort of have them scattered amongst all three characters? Damn. Now I'm back to square one."
@Bond335 no, dont start over! its definately do-able with 25! play the fight a little slower and shoot when you know the homing rocket will hit him. Definately try to get the early lock-on like I do when he hits the ground for the shockwave attack. As you can see I wasted a couple rockets. and tri-rockets or the machine gun are good if he is close right when he turns around to fly back. And apparantly from the video I gave Juno lots of tri-rockets on that save file too. He has 50!
Great game, great memories, I used to play it for hours with my brothers, I was playing Floyd the flying droid, hammering the Z button like crazy to take out all these ants. I was so pissed to find out that Floyd sacrified himself to save everybody's lives. I was hoping for a sequel to the game in which they would find Floyd's parts and rebuild him. But they never came up with it :)
It took me longer to beat him but that's because I didnt know you could deal damage up close, so I only shot at him while he was backing up. Must have been 20 times or so.
Also you got really lucky mate. The electric discharge is his cheapest attack, it drains your life in about 4 seconds, and it homes in on you. As soon as he was down, first thing I always aimed at was his mechanical right hand. Twat.
@Frentzen127 I would have beaten him just as easily if he did the electric attack. its pretty easy to dodge. try this : since the attack hits somewhereon the stage, it doesnt home in, keep sidestepping when you know he is about to do it. you will see his hand raise and the color change. just keep side stepping to the far left and right while jumping over it. when it is moving faster dont go all the way to the right or left. you may not get hit once.
@MrTylersharpe Yeah, Gruntilda wasnt fun at all! I never bothered to replay that boss a lot like this one to get the technique down. I kind of forgot how the boss fight went and only remember you needed to repeat fighting her for the Jingos or whatever ;p It was very epic!
This game and Zelda Ocarina of time is the hardest games I had to beat but Jet Force Gemini is definitely the hardest and an honor to play and beat this game :-)

If you have a friend with a fast trigger finger playing as floyd, you can absolutely rip him a new one during the short video at the beginning of the fight. It's pretty funny.
Whatever I tryed against him didn't work,with the exception of the "Offence is best defence tactics" which would every time I came close to kill him,left me out of ammo.
I still consider him by far the hardest Boss I faced in
videogames.
I knew what to do against Mizar,but I just wasn't good enough to do actually do it.
I have a friend that somehow defeated him after too many tries.
Up until final Boss in Gears of War,he shared my "feelings" toward Mizar.
Knowing myself,I probably unleashed everything(Offence is best defence usually. Works quite nicelly.) I had on Mizar.
I wasn't pripared for Mizar.
I don't remember,the other Bosses(if there are any) and what they did,but I really didn't have that much of a problem(sure I died few times usually because of my own stupidity)killing anything in my path.
But Mizar?I died probably 100+ times.
I don't remember if I managed to kill the bastard.
To beat this game i remember I left almost all power ups for lupus the first time thinking the last battle would be like the first Mizar fight. Now I leave all power ups for Juno but 3 expansion packs for the other characters gun, so the lupus and vela can stand their bosses and levels. Specially lupus his bosses and for Vela the level Ichor. I can see you left the seekers for Juno too.

This boss took me days to beat! So freaking hard with a torn-down joystick. But I figured out what to do after a while and became the happiest kid in the world when I beat him. IT WAS AWESOME!! :D

Great game, great memories, I used to play it for hours with my brothers, I was playing Floyd the flying droid, hammering the Z button like crazy to take out all these ants. I was so pissed to find out that Floyd sacrified himself to save everybody's lives. I was hoping for a sequel to the game in which they would find Floyd's parts and rebuild him. But they never came up with it :)

It took me longer to beat him but that's because I didnt know you could deal damage up close, so I only shot at him while he was backing up. Must have been 20 times or so.
Also you got really lucky mate. The electric discharge is his cheapest attack, it drains your life in about 4 seconds, and it homes in on you. As soon as he was down, first thing I always aimed at was his mechanical right hand. Twat.

@Frentzen127 I would have beaten him just as easily if he did the electric attack. its pretty easy to dodge. try this : since the attack hits somewhereon the stage, it doesnt home in, keep sidestepping when you know he is about to do it. you will see his hand raise and the color change. just keep side stepping to the far left and right while jumping over it. when it is moving faster dont go all the way to the right or left. you may not get hit once.

@MrTylersharpe Yeah, Gruntilda wasnt fun at all! I never bothered to replay that boss a lot like this one to get the technique down. I kind of forgot how the boss fight went and only remember you needed to repeat fighting her for the Jingos or whatever ;p It was very epic!

@MrTylersharpe Grunty becomes routine once you beat her a few times. I say Banjo Kazooie was the greatest gem of Nintendo 64 besides Ocarina.

I FUCKING HATED FIGHTING MIZAR! IF I HAD A NICKEL FOR EVERY TIME I DIED TRYING TO BEAT HIM, I'D BE ONE RICH MOTHER FUCKER! but i eventually beat him ^_^ and i will never forget this game, as it is one of my favorites of all time and one THE best games ever made because wen you beat it, you literally feel like you can do ANYTHING

I always shot into his armpits with the tri-rockets as he charged towards Juno, it damaged him and you could beat him so unbelievably quickly sometimes.

And you're lucky he never did his lighting attack, I remember that was the deadliest one.

Whatever I tryed against him didn't work,with the exception of the "Offence is best defence tactics" which would every time I came close to kill him,left me out of ammo.
I still consider him by far the hardest Boss I faced in
videogames.
I knew what to do against Mizar,but I just wasn't good enough to do actually do it.
I have a friend that somehow defeated him after too many tries.
Up until final Boss in Gears of War,he shared my "feelings" toward Mizar.

It was long time ago I played this game.
Knowing myself,I probably unleashed everything(Offence is best defence usually. Works quite nicelly.) I had on Mizar.
I wasn't pripared for Mizar.
I don't remember,the other Bosses(if there are any) and what they did,but I really didn't have that much of a problem(sure I died few times usually because of my own stupidity)killing anything in my path.
But Mizar?I died probably 100+ times.
I don't remember if I managed to kill the bastard.

Often,its not that easy to avoid attacks.
But to the best of players every game or Boss is easy.After 5 or 6 failures,they figure out everything,and than,it's piece of cake.
They should try to understend that not all of us have reflexes,hand-eye co-ordination and patience...unfortenatly.Sad,but true.

To beat this game i remember I left almost all power ups for lupus the first time thinking the last battle would be like the first Mizar fight. Now I leave all power ups for Juno but 3 expansion packs for the other characters gun, so the lupus and vela can stand their bosses and levels. Specially lupus his bosses and for Vela the level Ichor. I can see you left the seekers for Juno too.
