In my opinion, I think this song has nothing to do with Amesterdam.

I think it's about the character realizing that humanity is killing itself with various forms of pollution, world war, and the like. He's tried to make a difference by speaking his mind but instead all he gets is a bunch of people calling him crazy and out right ignoring him. So he's given up on ever saving Humanity.

Once again, that's just my interpretation. Good song!
