I am for the protest, but I am not for any of the two leaders. The present leader is nuts ... I am not going there, but I fail to see where democracy will flourish under Moussavi? I hope that the protests will speak a government overthrow and an establishment of a government that is truly friendly to democracy. They will not get democracy under Moussavi. Maybe openess to some degree, but not true democracy.
The United Nations have always shown that they are toothless. The United Nations rarely stand for human rights, except for the politically correct human rights. When have the United Nations stand for the rights of any nations people?
I also want to know where in the Koran does it says that murder is justifiable. No matter what your religious beliefs are there are common human rights that people have (one being to vote in a fair election) Also some Iranians need to realizes that America is not evil. Is it evil because it helped out Iraq in the Iran-Iraq war (but that was 30 years ago)? I really hope Moussavi is put in charge and Iran is friendly with the west.
I wonder why democracy and Islam can not coexist? If this thing plays out right Iran will be one of America's biggest allies. I think the reformists should overthrow the Ayatola because he behaves more like a dictator than a religious cleric. I'm not saying overthrow the current system just this Ayatola
I hope the Iranian people rise up even more then they have and kick some major ass over there. I hope to see them con trolled by noone and free to live under God with free will and with Liberty and Justice.
Kudos to the people of Iran. Too bad you're not armed to the teeth like we are here in the U.S. so you sorta have to take the evil oppression of your leaders.
But, maybe you'll get lucky and the real God will help you out.
sorry dude but lemme correct your comment .. uk/usa/isreal are dreaming to control iran and they will always keep dreaming .. such a great nation as irani wont allow anyone to control them .. just look how much the world is interrest and watching the iranian elections .. this electon is a victory to iranian democracy more than a victory to moussavi or ahmadinajad :)
I hope current events are a sign the sun of Iran is rising and will soon share with the world its most valuable resource, its beautiful and intelligent people, when they are free to express themselves.
Gr8 words. We want our original flag. We want religion OUT of government, and vice versa. We don't want a tyrant. We don't want a religious zealot. We want to live in peace with all people and people of Greater Iran/Persia, of all creeds and religions: Zoroasterians, Jews, Christians, Bahai's, and Moslems.
er...you mean like the bloodthirsty egomaniac gunmen who shot these students and their blind lust for everybody to be like them? They wont stop until their guns are removed.
Revolution is here! Iran! Iran! Iran! We want democracy and FREEDOM! Then we want it spread to the rest of the people suppressed under unjust Dictatorships in the World. If we can free Iran - we can free others through this. Green Revolution is for the World. It will not just make one country better but all. Power must only be entrusted to those who plan to use it for the good and benefit of humanity. Not for hate. The green represents PEACE. Fight hate with love (MLK)!
Thank you so much for this, I appreciate the chance to better understand Moussavi's position.
All of my support goes out to every Iranian whose voice is being crushed and all who are fighting back at serious personal risk. You have my deepest admiration and respect.
The revolution in '79 was a result of people angry at seeing the monarchy supposedly give the country away to the West, weakening the Iranian & Muslim traditions.
But this is 30 years later, a theocracy DOESN'T work! Iranians can still be loyal & faithful Muslims, but without all the restrictions & threats the government poses to the people.
Democracy & freedom of expression can only be given to a country by its own people. That's why the protests must keep going! STAND FOR YOUR HUMAN RIGHTS!!
There was no "giving away" of anything during Pahlavi regime, certainly not anymore than any place else. Mollahs were po'd b/c their land was taken away form them and nationalized, Reza Shah Kabir cut off akhonds' their nuts! The revolution was for a change and nada else.
I'm totally with you sleepyhead1981!... the problem is not only the president... the problem is the fuckin' mullah's and the 'great supreme leader' who's in charge!!!... down with the Islamic Republic and hopefully rise of a free Iran!
Mousavi is very similar to Ahmadinejad. Don't be fooled by western media. But having him as president is a step in the right direction though I do hope it will be a revolution instead.
Yes he was like him...but many think he has changed during his campaign, and he and Khatami and Karroubi and possibly even Ayatollah Rafsanjani are the new faces of a revolution
Good job on the translation. It's too bad the flowery Persian doesn't come through in English very well. What dirty pool Ahmadinejad plays! Can we say...obnoxious?
unfortunately so down in quality! I tried the same but I did not like the outcome... Would be much better if we could subtitle the original video instead of converting a flash video downloaded from youtube and then subtitle that ...

The United Nation's main goal is to ensure the rights of nation states, vis-avis the West Phalian idea of statehood, not the rights of the people.

the methods of ahmadinejad are unbelievable. what a bout dossiers? this is totally not tolerable.

Well, I was only judging by the content of his speech. You would never hear Ahmadinejad say most of what he said.
I agree that he is a step in the right direction. Then again, I can't imagine anyone being worse than Ahmadinejad.
