  • i remember when i had to get psyched up for 205

  • ... the barbell during a squat exercise will always be positioned over the center of the foot so the lifter maintains balance, in a deep squat (way below parallel) the knees will come over the feet. that is NOT bad for the knees. In this position the stress is transferred from the knees to the hips. It requires more flexibility but is vastly safer. anything parallel and above is NOT a squat and will do you know good. you wanna train like a man, then Squat like one.

  • I'd be reluctant to squat heavy (outside the rack) with metal plates, at least at my gym. Makes failing a rep a bit of a spectacle should I need to bail... maybe it's just me :)

  • @KroySS14 ATG squatting  requires the knees tog o past the toes. Have you watched ANY Oly lifting?

  • you are popping back with your lift, and your knees are going to and beyond the locked position.

    correct your form now before moving up in weight and damaging your knees.

  • Kudos on depth, but your knees are traveling WAY too far forward for a low bar (or even high bar) squat. Concentrate on sitting BACK not down, on staying tight on the decent and on pushing the knees OUT in line with your toes.

  • thats not atg... thats parallel, your hips are in plane with your knees at the bottom of your lift.

  • atg, practically speaking, means as far down as you can go, and that is determined by an individual's flexibility and structure. It appears that this guy is going down as far as his body allows, even though his ass is far from touching the ground.

  • no ass to grass means ass touching hams if youre not flexible to go down enough fot his then you are not going atg. he looked like he was doing this but his depth was still areley parallel which is odd to me. i guess its because his stance was wide (for an oly lift) im uploading squat videos on friday if youd like to see my opinion on atg.

  • dude you use half your energy stepping back 6 steps. What are you going to do when your squatting 270? You'll find it hard to walk that weight that far back without falling on your ass or dropping that weight on yourself.

  • He has no choice on this rack; the guard rails are too high for the depth he's going to.
