Mabn you're really awesome .... can you please do a lesson of your patterns whitch you are playing in a beginning of this video? .... It's amazing --- sorry about bad enchlish ...
Great new technique! I thought you were Swedish? You sound American! If this is your first teaching video then you are a true natural teacher what a great job you have done here.
Im still struggling so hard with pinch harmonics, I think I will just keep this one here in the back of my head for the time being haha. But it will definitely find its way into my repertoire one day.
This is probably one of the best lessons I've ever watched. You make it so easy to understand and you make it look so easy to do, also! Thank you very much for the lesson :)
thanks man. How do you manage to keep the sound clear with some much gain? I try to push the gain high but then every little movement comes through and muffles the notes. what are you playing through? I've borrowed a Mesa trip rec but it is way too loud to push it properly.
It's really tricky, You have to set up the bend right - the strings won't oscillate by themselves so the guitar will try to stay quiet, but You have to be really careful with both Your hands not to set off a string into motion. This can get challenging with the G string bend, since You're dangerously close to the D string. It's just a matter of practice. And different playing styles. What's easy for You might be hard for me since we just move our hands differently.
I've got pretty chunky fingers, great for rock climbing but not so good from trying to shred on my Ib..
My problem (apart from the monkey fingers) is that to get that high gain crunch I get noise from the other strings, just the slightest touch sounds almost as loud as the string I'm picking. I'll turn the guitar vol down but push the amp harder, but then harmonics don't come through. So I turn up the guitar vol to get the harmonics but then the sound is muddy. It could just be that I'm shite!
I'd say the solution is in Your muting hand, lay it across the strings and try to keep it there, and mute the strings You're not playing. Of course, I have fleshy palms so it's easy...
@GryphonGuitar Hey, I was wondering if you could like bend the 10th fret so it becomes a (12) then lightly tap the 17th fret because it sounds similar to what you are doing? Would this be the same sort of technique you are using?
Man this is awesome not only you are a great player but also an amazing teacher, thanks for sharing your techniques man and thanks for always posting your amazing videos I whish you a happy new year full of SHRED
Wow man, you are GREAT at explaining things. Really, the right amount of detail, nice fluid speaking, great pacing, etc. You should be a teacher, haha.
I will replace my video with a new one soon where I do it much faster, I am so glad I am improving! And I am teaching others and I always mention your band and name when I do it :) ''This is a tecnique from Andi Kravljaca from Silent Call'' exactely HOW do you pronounce Kravljaca?, because it's not easy to hear it in your video.
I'm so glad people are adopting the technique, and I do hope it finds its way into Your playing style. Thanks also for the free publicity - I really appreciate it.
The last name is pronounced - "Kravlyatcha", very russian sounding.
i would love to buy a silent call album to but i cant find one anywhere, and also what tuning is your guitar in? i would love to learn how to play that.
You can find the Silent Call album a lot of different ways. Try CDInzane, Impulsemusic, NEH Records, Wishing Well Entertainment, Amazon, lots of places.
Hi! Where do You live? It should come out pretty much around the world, and is carried by the regular distributors, what country do You live in? I can try and nail down a place.
Thanks so much for this dude, that little thing you did in tornado of souls has always baffled me,thanks for sharing this dude,I hope you don't mind if I use it in one of my new videos
Best lesson ever, well, it's damn late, cant pick up my guitar and try yet! And since I suck so much, I guess I wont be able to, so I dont have too many expectations! Good English command btw!
I don't know, exactly. In the video I show You an alternate technique with the left hand, but as I say myself, it's really inaccurate, You'd be lucky to get a clean harmonic 10% of the time... I guess work on the stretches - or, play the trick higher up. Instead of 12-15-27th fret, try 15-18-30th fret or something...
Very good video, Andi. I guess I do have an advantage with my 27th fret, haha. The plug wasn't too shameless, it was rather non-intrusive. What distortion and delay pedals do you use?
And what amp do you use on this vid?
thealexpaoful 1 year ago
Hi guys
Just a little input from a 61 year old bass player.
That last harmonic will be exactly midpoint between the tapped harmonic and the bridge saddle.
Could be useful in getting a ball park estimate, but I agree it has to be spot on to ring.
Nice helpful video, thanks!
