  • Great lesson and thank you for it.

  • Excellent lesson!!!!

    So helpful...

  • What distortion and delay pedals do you use?

And what amp do you use on this vid?

  • Hi guys

Just a little input from a 61 year old bass player.

That last harmonic will be exactly midpoint between the tapped harmonic and the bridge saddle.

Could be useful in getting a ball park estimate, but I agree it has to be spot on to ring.

    Nice helpful video, thanks!

  • You should get a patent for it, lol.

  • you should do more lessons video.you take the time to explain and you don't showoff like most teacher on youtube -_-'

  • oh yeah btw, the in tune bends is probably the most important, im getting a lot now when i bend it just right

  • i got a couple without a lot of gain in the amp settings, but ive only been working on it for 2 days so i need a lot more work to get it smoothly

  • you just took it to the hnl

  • What a badass technique.

Im still struggling so hard with pinch harmonics, I think I will just keep this one here in the back of my head for the time being haha. But it will definitely find its way into my repertoire one day.

  • Thanks a lot, dude! Really helps me out!!

    but i have 2 problems

    first

i got lost in the frets you played xD

    and the other one

is that even using my index and pinky fingers

i cant reach the place of the harmonics:/

    id appreciate any advice

    thanks:)

  • Awesome lesson. Very informative and easy to understand. Also, very nice guy!

  • This is probably one of the best lessons I've ever watched. You make it so easy to understand and you make it look so easy to do, also! Thank you very much for the lesson :)

  • I wish I could learn how to do this properly:P, its probably one of the coolest sounding guitar tricks I've ever heard:)

  • very nice! i'm gonna have to practice this. :D

  • Sweet lesson (and band logo ) u guys have any album out or anything? id love to hear some of ur stuff

  • Absolutely, it's called "Creations From A Chosen Path" by the band Silent Call, You can pick up a copy in lots of places online.

  • thanks man. How do you manage to keep the sound clear with some much gain? I try to push the gain high but then every little movement comes through and muffles the notes. what are you playing through? I've borrowed a Mesa trip rec but it is way too loud to push it properly.

  • Hi!

It's really tricky, You have to set up the bend right - the strings won't oscillate by themselves so the guitar will try to stay quiet, but You have to be really careful with both Your hands not to set off a string into motion. This can get challenging with the G string bend, since You're dangerously close to the D string. It's just a matter of practice. And different playing styles. What's easy for You might be hard for me since we just move our hands differently.

  • I've got pretty chunky fingers, great for rock climbing but not so good from trying to shred on my Ib..

My problem (apart from the monkey fingers) is that to get that high gain crunch I get noise from the other strings, just the slightest touch sounds almost as loud as the string I'm picking. I'll turn the guitar vol down but push the amp harder, but then harmonics don't come through. So I turn up the guitar vol to get the harmonics but then the sound is muddy. It could just be that I'm shite!

  • Probably not the last reason anyway :)

I'd say the solution is in Your muting hand, lay it across the strings and try to keep it there, and mute the strings You're not playing. Of course, I have fleshy palms so it's easy...

  • thanks for the lesson dude, my brain is whirring with about a billion possibilities for using this technique

  • Obviously your brain was whirring with about a billion possibilities for a youtube username. xD it made me laugh

  • @GryphonGuitar Hey, I was wondering if you could like bend the 10th fret so it becomes a (12) then lightly tap the 17th fret because it sounds similar to what you are doing? Would this be the same sort of technique you are using?

  • MORE VOOOOOOOOOLUME pls

  • Holy Shit Just watched the whole video and im Gona try this out when i get my line6 Stack.

    Sweet playing dude!

Cheers For showing us a sweet trick =)

  • dam can i sitll do it even when my pinky is twisted?:(

  • Great video. Your speaking is very easy to listen and you explain this very clearly. It's been great help for me.

    And of course, awesome technique

  • Dude, thanks a lot for the lesson, I really appreciate it. You rock too, great talent you have. CHeers.

  • LOL 1:23 Gives us the finger

  • I will replace my video with a new one soon where I do it much faster, I am so glad I am improving! And I am teaching others and I always mention your band and name when I do it :) ''This is a tecnique from Andi Kravljaca from Silent Call'' exactely HOW do you pronounce Kravljaca?, because it's not easy to hear it in your video.

  • I'm so glad people are adopting the technique, and I do hope it finds its way into Your playing style. Thanks also for the free publicity - I really appreciate it.

The last name is pronounced - "Kravlyatcha", very russian sounding.

  • Ah, thanks, because it's not a typical Swedish name!

I really suffered when I tried this tecnique and suddenly I mastered it!

Tomorrow it will be band practise and I will show it!

  • 6:52 is it just me or is that not the 17th fret?

  • *lol* I bow to Your superior mathematics.

  • that was the most useful and comprehensive lesson for harmonic tab bends i ever saw.

    thx man

  • i always wondered how these sonic sounds came about...well explained cheers

  • that was very helpful

  • I'm doing it on bass right now. ;o

    :|

2 how much do you practice a day

    peace man \m/

  • Hey, I love your music!

Is that a Jackson DINKY DXMG ?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi!

It is in fact not - it's a DK2. Thanks for taking the time to write :)

  • that was pretty cool how you did the 'snapping finger show video' thing

  • I wish I could play like that

  • massively sick shit

  • i would love to buy a silent call album to but i cant find one anywhere, and also what tuning is your guitar in? i would love to learn how to play that.

  • Hi!

You can find the Silent Call album a lot of different ways. Try CDInzane, Impulsemusic, NEH Records, Wishing Well Entertainment, Amazon, lots of places.

The tuning is in Eb (E flat).

  • Hey man, great tutorial. In-depth and really friendly.

  • Du är ju grym på gitarr, hur länge har du spelat egentligen?

    Jag kommer garanterat köpa albumet.

  • Hej! Tack så mycket, vi uppskattar verkligen varje såld skiva :) Har spelat i elva och ett halvt år.

  • ey andi why dont give us a lesson about ''vibrato with the voice '' xDDD

    PS

how i buy the silent call album ;D

  • Hi! Where do You live? It should come out pretty much around the world, and is carried by the regular distributors, what country do You live in? I can try and nail down a place.

  • if u were talking to me xd im from mexico litle far from stockholm xDDDD but maybe by importing stuff or something like that ;D

  • Great Vid!

  • ello

could u post a vid about building speed or techniques used. like the part at the start of this video

  • awesome! ;O

  • is dat guitar worth the buy?

  • Thanks so much for this dude, that little thing you did in tornado of souls has always baffled me,thanks for sharing this dude,I hope you don't mind if I use it in one of my new videos

  • Hey Andi!

    Thanks for this awesome lesson.

Im working on this technique now, but my pinky is too short to reach the 27th xD, so I'll try on the 15-18-30th.

    I'll upload my results :D

    Cheers

  • Check out the great video response to this - this guy figured out a great technique for when You can't reach!

  • amazing as usual. i can't wait for your album

  • amazing!

  • man, its good to see you finally putting up videos again. that was a really helpful lesson, actually easy to understand

  • Best lesson ever, well, it's damn late, cant pick up my guitar and try yet! And since I suck so much, I guess I wont be able to, so I dont have too many expectations! Good English command btw!

  • Amazing video Andi, once again very impressed, working on it too! :D 5 stars

  • haha are u really swedish? your accent sounds like, idon't know, illinois or somthing lol...

great vid by the way, im gonna try this right now

  • His nationality is probably Swedish.

    Great video dude.

  • *lol* Yeah "Midwestern" is the thing I hear most often - although someone once said "Oklahoma". But they were Dutch.

I grew up bilingual, so I've always spoken English.

  • cool.

im gonna try to get a video response goin of me trying this, but im still trying to get it down pat, so it might be a few days.

  • Um dude I've got a question...what if my hand is to small to do the stretch with my pinky? :(

  • Cut it off!!!!

  • I don't know, exactly. In the video I show You an alternate technique with the left hand, but as I say myself, it's really inaccurate, You'd be lucky to get a clean harmonic 10% of the time... I guess work on the stretches - or, play the trick higher up. Instead of 12-15-27th fret, try 15-18-30th fret or something...

  • Yes THANK YOU SO MUCH DUDE!

  • Very good video, Andi. I guess I do have an advantage with my 27th fret, haha. The plug wasn't too shameless, it was rather non-intrusive. And your complete and total lack of an accent scares me every time you talk, haha. Not to mention that my idea of how your last name is pronounced got completely tossed out the window, haha.

  • *lol* I can't even pronounce my last name right. And thanks for the praise!

  • that was really great for a first lesson. i gotta start trying that

  • Hey,Gryphon

Great job on the lesson...Well said.

    I learned something new.

    Thanks

  • Thank you for this lesson! All those explanations seem to be clear. All that I need is to go back home to try that ^_^

  • Please do, don't be afraid to post Your results when You're done :)
