To me, the most important feature a note software should have is Auto synchronization where Syncronization is done instantly and each computer and mobile phone without any action required from the user to synchronise. Everything is synchonize the exact moment I modify or create a note on all my computers and on my cell phone. It just make no sense to me to use a software that you have to synchronize manually between your different hardware. Evernote does all that.

If you are doing complex jobs as research and academic stuff, OneNote gives you better organization. For everyday personal notes, evernote is slick. I use both.
Yeah I'm pretty new to this whole notes thing. I just spent some time choosing between onenote 2007 and the latest Evernote. Onenote is better, I especially like onenotes sections and pages vs Evernote where I have to remember to create tags or create stacks to mimic sections...but its something I'll get use to in order to have my notes on my Droid with a widget without have to navigate my browser to a web app. MS get your shit together and support more devices.
I tried Evernote & OneNote and prefer OneNote, It's a close race. Overall OneNote is a better product. OneNote also integrates VERY well with MS Office & Sky Drive. I still like Evernote a lot, and can use it on my PC, iphone, or now my Windows Phone.
If you’ve got or thinking of picking up a new Windows phone go with OneNote…if you’ve got Android or IPhone go Evernote is a great product too and will do the trick.
It seems you have already made up your mind but OneNote 2010 has some of the features you've been requesting. Theres now a sync button and it syncs to skydrive. Also Microsoft has made "web apps" a way to access your programs on the web. So basically you can use it in the program itself, on Microsoft's website, and now on your iPhone thanks to their free app. You may wish to reconsider.
I agree. Much of the benefits of Evernote have been matched ( and soon surpassed) by MS. Again both good products which you will be happy with. OneNote more fine tuned, cost more with initial purchase of MS Office.

Evernote will most likely have an easy time to fill the missing gaps.

I also loved onenote... and had a problem even trying evernote! but right now I am loving loving evernote.
I am wondering what type of scaner you use?
I am going to attempt to go "papeerless" and was wondering what to consider. also loved your term "device agnostic" cute!!!

I just downloaded evernote, I have a tablet pc. I didn't see a "color" pen option... that is availble on onenote, I didn't see it on... evernote.

Google Docs or Evernote? I can decide between the two and I don't really like OneNote.

What do you think about OfficeDrop? They also have a Evernote integration?
