  • Is this an SA band? They're fantastic! I love that song.

  • So much better the solo played by the flugel and not the cornet ----> see Shipston Town Band

  • One of my favourite brass peices having heard it played many times as a brass banders wife...

  • This is great piece of Army music and the Las Vegas Brass band plays this as well as anybody. Yeah, growing up at WMI, and then my kids at Grandview & TMI we all had the priviledge of playing with many great musicians because the Army is full of the finest brass players and composures. But lets be careful to not dis each other. cadillacdude.(Darrel?) My dad is the walking bass in this piece and although he is now a retired officer being a part of this band is one of his greatest joys.

  • Thanks for your comments, I've played this piece and others with your dad but I was on Eb bass. I count him as a good friend of mine. Yes, this band is one of his greatest joys but it took me 3 1/2 years to get him into it! I also have sung bass next to him in songsters since their retirement.

  • i forgot to add that we also had the great Lt. Willis Howell on the bass trombone. he was a former player of the great England brass band of the salvation army. other notables there during the summer were Mark Ridenour, John Morrison (my instructors) Joe Johnson, Bill Broughton (the man on the Trombone) and various other guests came in to instruct. it was a great learning experience.

  • Hi, thanks for commentting. I too have played Lightwalk and Prasie many times. The gentlemen that you have mentioned are great musicians and composers and nice guys. Please check back in the future for other video clips of bands.

  • @cadillacdude1975 I was there! Great times!

  • we played this very piece at the Salvation Army Ga Music Conservatory at Camp Grandview in 1990. Barry Gott was not only the conductor, but played a full trap set during the final concert a the end of the summer.

i played the E flat Soprano coronet.

we played this plus Praise if anyone of you have ever heard that as well as alot of Jim Curnow's stuff with his daughter Amy playing the coronet as well. Amy is now the lead singer of an alternate funk/fusion band now. you can find her on myspace.

  • We play this in our youth band at Church, and Barrie Gott was the ex-conductor of our band. Great piece, well played.

  • Growing up in The Salvation Army this was a song that made us feel like at least we played some cool music.
