  • Gord is AMPED! I love it.

  • this is when they were good i cant stand anything they sing now so bad

  • gord is such a gentlemen

  • like exiles from the canada of your soul...awesome

  • "I had a bird's eye view of a bird's eye view"

  • why did the hip only perform 2 songs yet, ICP got to do like 8?

  • pacmansnide-I totally agree with you, though I rate The Guess Who a notch up. My all-time favorite rock band list goes like this:

    1) Foghat

    2) The Guess Who

    3) The Tragically Hip

    4) The Drive-By Truckers

Curiously, I never need a 5th band in my lineup.

  • Best Canadian Band Ever. Growing up in Northern New York, The Hip was a staple of any party, any road trip, any ANYTHING. Gord is an underrated genius.

  • Gord is tragically hip

  • Me, myself and I...and this video have officially become ONE, rock-hounds!

  • Best Canadian Band Ever!!... period

  • haha "trick or treat" - Gord has me laughing all the time.... legend.

  • my home town kingston ontario canada mo fo

  • "I didn't wanna...disqualify you!"

  • GOD DAMN, this gives me chills!!!! We crossed when the lake was frozen (probably on skates lol ) like Exiles from the Canada's of your SOUL...WOO!!!!

  • trick or treat !...lol...love that line

  • I was taking a bath in Cocanut Cream.!!!! hahaha Good ol' Gord!

  • Saw them in Bobcaygeon. Got my tix for my hometown, Buffalo. Can't wait!

  • Hello, there good morning. I feel Woodstockeriffic!

  • CANADA DOWNSVIEW PARK BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!!!! YEAAHHHHHHH HIP!!!!

  • @THC69 Best moment of my life was when Gord yelled "That night in Toronto" in Bobcaygeon, and the whole crowd went crazy.

    Best Canada day ever!!

  • Why the hell dont they tour anymore? I havnt seen any Canadian dates for the last like...3 years

  • @12321Walrus im seeing them in moncton new brunswick on the 28th?!

  • @arsen66 ......im coming too

  • who the hell disliked this video clearly not a true hip fan or Canadian for the matter

  • he gives me chills. gord got so much energy he dont what to say in between his lyrics sometimes. i thinks it all random improvised words something. hahaha.

  • Those of us with listening ears have caught on to the greatness of the Hip. I first heard them on a Vancouver FM station while driving up I-5 through the Skagit Valley of Washington state, where I lived at the time. The song was '700 Foot Ceiling' off of their great 1996 release 'Trouble At the Henhouse'. Life has never musically been the same since.

  • @bwho way to go my american friend....one of our best kept secrets. Do yourself a favour and see them live. Border places such as Detroit and Buffalo love these guys

  • @mattjohnkearney I have seen Das Hip. Saw them at The Moore Theater in Seattle way back in 1998, then again in Seattle in Aug. of 2002 at Pier 62/63. Great shows, the both of them. Can't wait ta see them again, too!

  • After listening to the 'Hips body of work I'm stunned that they never caught on in the states!?!

  • Gord's brilliant here, as usual. Absolutely heart-shaking, titillating, ball-busting, bombasticly be-bopping, funky-lactating buck-rockin' here. Love every minute of it!

  • This sends shivers down my spine.

  • this guy is on every drug

  • @deonbranch

    You r too FUNNY!

  • Gords horrible here but it's still a great performance. His voice sound more warmed up on the Poets clip.

  • Simple, pure, unadulterated rock and roll pleasure.

  • HIP ARE PLAYING CANADA DAY IN TORONTO THIS YEAR!!

    Can't wait!!

  • gotta love gord sinclair.wear a pink oxford and rocks that look

  • 3 people are not armed with will or determination...

  • Favorite Hip song. Cool performance and a good showcase of the twisted genius that is Gord Downie.

  • canadas band right there boy!!!

  • 5:30 Gordie, downhearted? Of course he was surprised!

  • S'like Canadian heroin....woot woot!

  • This is what Woodstock WAS supposed to be about.... the love and vibe we get when we hear tunes like this....Amen Hip !!!

  • i was there and it was f-ing awesome! been a big fan since the 80's and was shocked when i heard they were gonna play. only time ive seen them. ps it was our honeymoon.

  • CABADA IN THE MOTHER FUCKING HOUSE

  • Paul Langlois is a brilliant rhythm guitarist. He is a big reason why I love TTH! Rock on!

  • Paul langois! Is a brilliant rhythm guitarist!

  • Hes wearing a suit at woodstock? I don't know, it takes a bit of flavour from the idea of woodstock.

  • @sparkytrick is that what you would say about Wayne Coyne and The Flamimg Lips???

  • @daffydyl Well that was their image, Ive only ever seen Gord in t shirt and jeans.

  • @sparkytrick Meh, I'd argue that one of the themes of Woodstock is expressing yourself and your individuality. Gord, or at least his stage character is just this eccentric, borderline schizo type of guy, I think the suit or at least the shirt and tie look suits him well

  • Do people understand what they are singing about?

  • one of the best pieces of rock and roll I have ever seen.

  • Come on, just let's GO!!

  • Comment removed

  • awesome

  • I can only imagine how many people there who were high on acid and got to wake up and hear gord downies voice just before the hip start playing

  • Friggin awesome live in Ireland and rarely get to see them but when i do they are always awesome and its alway in small venues

  • sick...

  • WOODSTOCKERIFIC BRILLIANT =)

  • This video has me firmly by the balls, rockers!

  • "Pull! chk chk" LOL love it

  • how caN u think that their studio shit boring thats the dumbest thing ive heard all day. they are just the blue prints to the one of a kind jams such as this, guide lines for them to follow when they put on an unforgettable show. the studio stuff may not have all the extra music when they're live but they are still some of the best music of the last century. UR just an idiot jsumudio, phil-collins-listening-to homo

  • One of a kind frontman

  • I honestly am not impressed with their studio work; I find it boring. So it's even more surprising to me that their live performances are absolutely brilliant, full of musical passion, and mind-blowing! I love it!

  • In contrast to their live performances yes, but still wouldn't call them boaring :)

  • dpatch777-thanks, but I'm not in the MP3 world as of yet, anyway. I'm enjoying the buffer-free youtube music videos the last 2 days. Much improved over the buffering nightmare of the past couple months. Rock on!

  • I literally never tire of watching this video! Rock and roll! "Birds, everywhere. Oh, they're seagulls, actually. No one thinks about them much."

  • @bwho

Got mp3 versions if you're interested!

  • "Im getting a message from beyond...we crossed when the lake was frozen...like exiles, from the Canada's of your soul! Whoo!" This man is not just a legend in his own mind, if he feels he is a legend, that is, but he's truly a rock and roll legend. Brilliant!

  • His style on this song reminds me of Van Morrison (The TB Sheets) ....this is definitely the Hip at their best. It really evokes what Canada is about for me.

    Long live the Hip !

  • dpatch777-yeah, I'm no help on the digital copying. I tried to copy a bunch of The Hip's and other band's YouTube videos on to CD and/or DVD-R's. No dice. Gives an error message or file message of gibberish and when I go to play the videos the file is there but nothing's on it to play. =:(

  • @bwho I found a copy on a bit torrent site once but have not been able to find it again.

  • Grace tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • I'm with bwho, can't get enough of it. Looking for just a digital audio copy for mp3 player. Any help out there?

  • Das Hips !

  • all i have to say is that gord is one of a kind artist

  • "I was following you, in a big red canoe, I was feeding you, with a 15-foot pole...of bambo! Whoo!" This man is so good it scares me, people! I can't watch this video enough times! Come to Arizona, Tragically Hip!

  • We crossed when the lake was frozen.....woo.....like exiles from the canda's of your soul.........wooo

  • What a great memory! First Hip show for me. Honestly, I was not ready for this! I can guarantee I am total pro here (in NC) that's what I am here for! ...Everyone around me is smiling!

  • rock on mike from K town

  • After 32 live shows, they still blow my mind!

    Viva la Hip!!!

  • kirkfry-you're going to a TH show? I'm jealous as hell!

  • This sucker mesmorizes me. These guys are musical geniuses! I come here every day to watch and listen. And learn. After all, Gord says that "we've come hear to study you. It's us that gains the most! Right? Right? Whew!"

  • Notice at the end of the video when Gord's taking his jacket off...he decides to just hang on to it. Must like that coat too much to get any dirt on it! Of course, you have to understand, I watch this video pert-near every day.

    These guys rock!

  • The Hip rock and so does Canada! I'm a 'Merican and I say "hats off" to The Hip and their homeland!

  • seeing this show tonight...salamanca..lookout!

  • Gord is a hell of a performer. If there was some way to capture the energy he puts out on stage, we could power the world.

  • Gord's got my vote!

  • These guys are better than anyone knows. Love 'em! And they wouldn't be the great Tragically Hip without Gordon's ramblings, in my opinion. Rock on!

  • woodstockerrific? he have got to be kidding me.

  • HAHA YES

  • gord just lives and breathes the music look at him as soon as the drum beat starts at 0:23

    fucking golden

  • Love seeing all the Canadian flags there!

  • Do you notice how people aren't going crazy and breaking shit during their set? They were destroying the whole place when Limp Dick was playing, but not so much during a little slice of Canadiana

  • THE HIP rocked saturday morning....we were 75 yards from the stage....put on a great show!!

  • I cannot argue with george11seinfeld , saw and medicated with the boys leaving the day after the Magnetic Hill N.B show, the day after 93 000 left the concert ALL AT ONCE, and we had to walk 13 miles back to town.

Still have the Smoking Moose Tour tee to prove it !

    --LEQ

  • my dad was there

  • GORD DOWNIE AND THE HIP ARE AMAZING!

  • middle class candyasses turned hip, o.k.

  • the hip freeking rock!!!!

  • just a question sorry if this insults anyone

but do the hip smoke a lot of pot?

  • oh plenty, thats what the hip are famous for! main reason why gord acts the way he does in concerts

  • doubt that. i have never heard someone say they are known for smoking pot before. Gord just puts on a performance.

  • THC = Tragically Hip Canadians or maybe Tim Horton's coffee

  • either way its pretty awesome

  • gord makes the concert feel live

why use the same words as on his cd?

  • CANT WAIIIIIIT!!

  • Paul Langlois has a good voice. Glad they actually use him on studio albums, unlike other bands which just layer the lead vox.

  • come on just let's go!

  • If I was there, I would have felt 'Woodstock-errifc' as well.

  • he said im tragically hip

  • he does that from time to time, ive seen them 12 times only heard him do it once or twice live....love when he changes it......BEST BAND

  • If the Hip were American, they would not sound anything like this or be anywhere near this important. It would essentially erase everything they are. And we would all cry.

I also find it interesting that you say they have to be American to be the best band "worldwide." Says something about the American mentality, dontchathink?

  • if they were american, it wouldn't be the same.

  • Why?

  • april 7th hosers! i haven't been this excited in my guts since "the dark knight". and we all know how that turned out. this record is gonna cement their place in the annals of rock history. people are always complaining "i want the old HIP sound." MORNING MOON wouldn't sound out of place on UP TO HERE. i'm thinkin BOOTS or HEARTS, ANOTHER MIDNIGHT. the anticipation is killing me. maybe that's why i can't get laid. also HOLD STEADY also kick alot of ass!

  • Who knew that Kitchener would one day be the centre of the rock universe?!

    I'll be there!

  • lmao!! too true! i WAS there and it was GREAT!

  • Opening night, row 1 balcony.

I still have a hard time hearing things :)

    FANFUKINTASTIC!

  • I totally agree with gqblues... Should definitely have some more popularity in the states... Every American i ask, has never heard of the Hip.

I've seen them live about 7 times now. Absolutely amazing. Last i saw them was at Pemberton Festival, in BC. -- Which, was probably the most amazing, with whistler and other mountains in the backdrop

  • buddy thats like asking the americans if they heard of tim hortons.... its amazing how only a border divides us and we cant even relate to alot of things like come on but anyways CANADA ROCKS see ya in 2010 bitches

  • well there are tim hortons in michigan and in western ny and i think ohio haha thats about it.

  • I COME FROM DOWNTOWN!!!!

  • BORN READY FOR YOU.

  • Great band.

  • Gordie is Awesome.Notin a perverted way.

  • just a tiny fish in killa fuckn whaLE TANk but its cool cause they can play their balls off there are so many musical levels and these cats eh are hittin quite a few of em,what a beauty damn way to go eh

  • I'm from the U.S. and I don't understand why the Hip aren't more popular here. They have been the most influential Canadian rock band over the past 20 years. I was first exposed to the Hip when I attended college near the Canadian border. They have a tremedous catalog, but you really can't appreciate them until you see them live. Best live performances I've ever seen. If your new to the Hip check out their "Yer Favourites" double CD. Also check out "That Night in Toronto" live DVD.

  • The best recorded performance of this song was when they made an appearance on SNL. They were perfect. Wish I could find it somewhere.

  • dude!! Its on youtube...just type in grace too tragically hip...its about 4 videos from the top

and it def was a great performance...best ive seen so far

  • Greatest band since Rush. Such talent. Awesome!

  • It was crazy to see all the Canadians swarm when the Hip hit the stage for this appearance. Keep in mind it was over 100 degrees when they hit the stage....

  • Trick or Treat!

  • god bless the hip, but I think the version on Live Between Us was better

  • Not really the greatest version I've ever heard of Grace....
