Could someone explain me why No Prayer is a good album? I like the stuff from 1980 to 1986, but I never enjoyed songs like Can I Play with Madness from Seventh Son (isn't it a pop song?), Holy Smoke (with its endless repetition) or Bring Your Daughter... . Only tracks I 'm crazy about on No Prayer are The Assassin and Mother Russia. In many tracks there are good ideas, but Bruce's voice is often a bit tired and uninterested. Gers is a great player, but sounds sloppy in Real Live and Dead One.

wow,judging by the different video of tours from the past,Iron Maiden was by far the worst live after Fear of the Dark. their multitude of official live videos/cds they put out right after that album are terrible. Steve Harris producing those might have something to do about it also. Murray/Gers playing really sloppy was another bad part about them.

and yeah,Iron Maiden is my favorite band all time,don't kill me for stating the obvious.

@blindcynic DONT JUDGE by this vid its from a video ricorder trust me its sounded good that tour and after fear of the dark it was great . the x factor showed people how maiden can have very very epic songs like fortunes of war, sign of the cross n etc. and virtual XI was great to with the clansman, Lighting strike twice, ETC and janick n dave dont play sloppy its just the video recorder

@blindcynic agreed. But I think most of the sloppiness came from Nicko and Gers. Check out how Nicko speeds up this song at the choruses. Concerts from the Fear of the Dark tour are specially horrible. They seem to have improved a lot over the last 2 years, though.

@gullywoots actually,for some reason,when Adrian is part of it the whole band is playing much tighter. from the The Number of the Beast era shows to Live After Death,to Somewhere in Time bootlegs and all the way to Rock in Rio,they are playing amazing when Adrian is there. well,of course,I'm trying not to bash him,but they are tight with the exception of Janick. he's going all over the place with his solos.

a great album yes but nowhere near there best, there are no epic songs on that album the longest one being like 5 minutes. It needs a rime of the ancient mariner or paschendale or sign of the cross kinda song on it
