@HamburgerHill937 What a great comment. Absolutely no constructive criticism from a guy who has filmed nothing himself. If I was claiming to be a professional cameraman, maybe that comment would have a reason, but seeing as how I have a $100 handheld digital camera that I held at waist level when I filmed this, I'd say you are barking up the wrong tree. Don't like these videos, don't watch them. It really doesn't matter.
@stukadbomber OK, constructive criticism by someone who does film occassionally: Get a tripod. Pan and zoom *slowly*. Every shake / too-quick pan / zoom creates "dead" moments that don't contribute to the atmosphere. As a one-man filming crew, you get no alternative angle to cut to for making up for those "dead" moments, so try to make your pans and zooms movie-like. Don't try to show several objects by panning across them, choose your object and stick with it for several seconds.
@1bearcatf8f 7/8 scale replica. Only two actual Stukas still exist in the world, and neither are flight worthy. This is as close as it gets for the time being.
@1bearcatf8f No, both are in museums until further notice. I mean they don't really want to risk crashing one of only two original Stukas in existence... but maybe a 1/1 scale replica Stuka will be made someday.
The Stuka doesn't have a siren. It's a natural sound the plane made when in a deep vertical dive; it's engine design was made that way. You can still hear it in this plane when the pilot tips the nose down, but they're not letting him go steep enough. I guess they thought it was too dangerous. They should've put a siren in it so that it sounds like the scream it made for effect purposes at least.
The only airworthy Stukas are a few 7/8 scale lookalikes with different engines. They are convincing enough for airshows, but no actual Stuka is airworthy. No complete factory blueprints for a Stuka are known to survive so it will be nearly impossible to construct an "airworthy" model unless an reasonably intact wreck is found and reverse-engineered.
I dread to think how much all this kit is worth. I have my own USAAF exhibition that tours the U.K. BTW, I was unaware that there was an airworthy Stuka??
I was one of the reenactors on the bad guy side!! Next year there will be a TIGER TANK in the battle!! Just a great time full of history. You all shoould see Al Capones Cadillac there as well.
Is the Tiger a mock-up like the T-34's used in Saving Private Ryan? I thought the only genuine Tiger 1 that was mobile was the one at the Tank Museum in the U.K?
Yes it is the one from Saving Private Ryan. I am with 2./SS "Deutschland" and we had it at our Battle of the Bulge event last year. The thing smokes like crazy! Talk about burning oil...
I've viewed it's twin from the film which is now at the Imperial War Museum Duxford (UK). I understand when the Tiger 1 in a French museum was cranked up for the first time in ages to record the engine for a Tamaya radio control model sound effects system the resulting smoke gassed the place out.
I was right in that same area!!! It was AWESOME!!! My BF was the one loading the 88, and then after was shooting at the Americans with the MP40! That 88 was LOUD and AWESOME!!!
Cool. Just so you know next year, if you want to see those tanks close up you can follow that wooded path by the allied base and it leades to the allied tanks and other vehicles. Ill have a video of that up soon too.
u suck at filming

@TheExploit91 Then why don't you go build one? Be happy with what's out there instead of complaining about it. It's still cool to see.

@stukadbomber I take it this JU87 is not apart of the Collings Collection? It's not listed on their website! Do you know who owns it?
PKP405 1 year ago
@PKP405 I think it's privately owned by someone who operates out of Stow Municipal Airport.

stukas were fitted with sirens. the purpose was to strike fear into the enemy when they were dive bombing. it wasn't a natural sound the engine made.
jakey130486 2 years ago 3
Awe, they didn't let it go into a steep dive. :( ... I guess that was considered too dangerous.
ColonelMarksman 2 years ago
Where'd you get a Stuka? I thought there were no surviving examples in airworthy condition.
Bloodgod40 2 years ago
There are two airworthy Stukas, one in Europe and one in America.

it is actually a 3/4 scale version. not sure who made it. I was there as a reenactor, and talked to the owner, who lives in Maine.

Were you GI or German? I was there too.
Jonhandy14 2 years ago
I did not participate in the battles because i was in my 1940 French infantry kit, and would have been out of place timewise.
This year will be different. I'll have a old favorite kit that FEW people have ever seen!!!
