Composer John Williams conducted the orchestra during the 1976 Academy Awards, so when it was announced that he won the Oscar for Best Score, he had to run up to the podium to accept his Oscar and then run back to continue conducting the orchestra.
oh, jesus! thanks for this!! i've ever dreamed for the day when i see williams winning his first oscar for his own music and know? know i saw it *__* but, i think williams have to speak more about writing this score :(
@moviemaniac14 Yeah, but that's why Frederik specified that it was Williams' first Oscar "for his own music". Jaws was technically his second Oscar, but it was his first for an original score, since Fiddler's music was all by Jerry Bock.
@jsg361 Yeah, I remember being kinda disappointed by how short his speech was when he won the Golden Globe for "Memoirs of a Geisha" a couple years ago. But JW is notoriously humble and shy when it comes to getting lots of attention, so his acceptance speeches are always very short and simple. Just his personality, I guess.
0:14 The show's director shouted "CLOSE UP ON SEAGAL! NO, NEVER MIND!"

@jg2904 John Williams didn't do the music for Patton and Star Trek: The Motion Picture. those were Jerry Goldsmith

@Frederik5495 Actually this wasn't his first Oscar win. His first win was for Fiddler on the Roof. Seriously, look it up.

THE reason John Williams up on stage quickly...because he was conducting the Academy Orchestra that Nite...
UFOSPACE1999 1 year ago
damn that was quick. But he's probably so used to being "noticed" all the time.
