This is a very awkward interview to watch. It's like Ellen is DETERMINED to turn Kathy into something she isn't. It's one thing to not get Kathy's humor if that's not your style of comedy, but it's another to try and transform her into something YOU are comfortable with. Ellen just showed her true colors here, Why invite a person into your "home" just to be rude to them and attempt to make a person feel shameful about theirself. Clearly ellen was no mach for Kathy and it showed, this is what happens when you rely on writers week after week for your personality. kathy was a true pro because we all know if she wanted to flip the script on ellen she would have been able to do it with ease. So clearly kathy was a great sport and she didnt have to be.

@theincredible7 Ellen has very clean comedy and she never makes puns about anyone else or especially musicians. She LOVES brittany and all kinds of music and musicians. They just don't fit and it makes Ellen uncomfortable to speak badly about her peers. She doesn't like to speak badly of people and I respect Ellen greatly because she has clean comedy. I love Kathy as well- but the 2 of them just don't fit :(. They are totally opposite- Ellens comedy is never making fun of anyone

I've never seen Kathy more behaved, she even seemed a little nervous which was sweet. Kathy was funny as always and if that wasn't obvious, the audience cheering and laughing solidified that. Therefore, it really doesn't matter what Ellen said or didn't say, whether she banned her or not.

I don't think Ellen is licking ass, but for example about Britney; she's been on the show like 4 times or something, they've clearly got on and they probably really like eachother. If you were taking the piss out of someone's friend infront of them, i'm pretty sure they'd be uncomfortable too. I don't think Ellen see's them as being celebrities but as actual people, which is what they are.

I was really disappointed in Ellen in this interview. They have different styles, and if there is ANY comedienne that is more sympathetic to gays, it's Kathy Griffin. I think Ellen was paranoid and heavy handed with the snide comments.

In my opinion, after seeing this interview I really didn't get the vibe that Ellen was trying to change her. Anyone whose ever watched Ellen knows that she plays games with many of her guests and it'll be something that coincides with whatever it is the celeb does. She actually was laughing at a lot of the stuff Kathy said b/c she knows its true but b/c that's not Ellen's style she won't say too much. Kathy can get away with it b/c she doesn't have to face celebs on a daily basis.

This is a very awkward interview to watch. It's like Ellen is DETERMINED to turn Kathy into something she isn't. It's one thing to not get Kathy's humor if that's not your style of comedy, but it's another to try and transform her into something YOU are comfortable with. I used to like Ellen back in the day, but now that she's become "ELLEN," she has a huge stick up her ass about everything.

I think Ellen was okay until around 9:00 and the whole Britney thing , when she realized that the audience was actually laughing at Kathy's jokes and not laughing at hers..after that I think good old female-on-female jealousy took over. In fact, when she made a certain joke during the Britney thing at the end of the video and the audience didn't even chuckle, I'm pretty sure I even saw her face and facial expression change and harden. Well, Ellen, sorry but Kathy's ALOT funnier.

I think Ellen is spending this whole interview worrying if Kathy is going to swear or say something outrageous...she has to appeal to the some of the daytime crowd who want squeaky clean entertainment. She is also probably scared to express an opinion on a celeb incase she loses them as a guest. Looking at some of Ellen's old stand up it's not like she didn't have some edgier jokes herself...I wish she would just laugh along, her past experiences have made her terrified of controversy

@KELSCENE I get what you're saying, but I don't think Ellen was chastising. She was asking sincere questions, because she is just a different kind of person than Kathy is. They are both great comedians, very clever and hilarious. They're just different! Ellen has trouble understanding how someone can say such harsh things about others, because her comedy is based on nice. I didn't get a judgmental vibe here. It's Ellen's show and she was having an open dialogue, which is what she always does.
