Well, i don't think the student is intermediate, i think she's going slow so we can see what she's doing. I don't know for sure. just saying, david7401.
To improve the instruction value of your video, you may wish to change the angle of the camera such that one can follow the important details (e.g., hand-before-foot, upright torso, straight head, forward part of the foot before heel, etc.). One thing a viewer can notice in this clip though is that the student does not maintain the center of gravity correctly, falling forward. Bad habit at the beginning level.
(Actually, this student appears to be rather intermediate, but still...)
That's correct, this video has been shot poorly. Most people could do alot better using an average camcorder. HOWEVER, if you'll take a closer look at the dude who wears coaching gear (hard to call this guy coach, sorry), then you'll notice that he's the one who's making a mistake. At 1:06 he desided to move back when his student already started executing her lunge, which was an objective of this lesson. As a result, she's trying to compensate by compomising her balance.
I find the lunge the most effective move

You don't have to wear nickers unless you're in competition. I hardly ever wear them by personal choice.

The foil is okay. Not complete chaos and bad form like the saber.
This one is a little better.
