This has always been (for the 22 years that I've been a 'RUSH" fanatic) 1 of my fave bass lines by Geddy! You certainly di it great justice. You have real talent on the bass. I've been drumming for 20 years & have most of Neil's drum grooves & fills to muscle memory by now, but your bass skills really shoe here! MOST impressive!
this is amazing, i play drums and guitar and never realized how involved this bass work is by geddy. Man hes pumping this song out like a machine. good work man i have some serious respect for you, geddy, and anyone who has to play this song on bass

Awesome, love your bass tone. One quick question, how did you got to singing and bass playing? I'm a bass player and I'm having trouble with singing+bass. Geddy is insane:). Keep up the work!
ur awsome, check out my channel. im hooked on ged and trying to master bass like him. you got an awsome right hand technique and you can sing and play those lines. awsome bro. take care! god bless!
Can anyone upload a slow "showing a beginner the chords" version of Digital Man or Analog Kid?? I really want to keep interested in learning bass this time and would like to slowly play these songs to give me some fire!!!
@charlottejamesj dude this song is easy for me now but you should not start out with this song do something easier than most rush songs. i started with red hot chillie peppers then went rush.
He plays a Ibanez SR... not sure what the exact model is, I'm positive it's a soundgear though. Look on his channel for the info... I know Geddy plays this on a Steinberger.
It's not all that hard to get the geddy rick sound on a bass like this. Boost mid freqs around the 2000-3000 Hz range, use steel rounds with the action set low for some fret buzz, and a hint of overdrive, and viola, Geddy Rick/Jazz bass tone. I've already done it on my Jazz bass. As long as the tone of the bass has a nice "ring" to it, getting the tone isn't hard.
Awesome! One of my favourite songs by Rush. I think I'm going to buy a bass just so I can play some Geddy Lee. I play guitar already, but there is something about the power/tone etc. of bass that I just love!
Dude, this was sweet. This song was my favorite hearing it live in Toronto last summer. The bass line is killer hard. I've tried it. Too hard. You killed it. Just Awsome Man!
Wow... Great job. I have been playing this wrong since it came out. I guess my version is close, but yours is on the money. Not for note.. Great job, but a ego crusher... :-<
well 30+ years of playing and Rotosound RS66 Swing Bass Roundwound strings medium LS/LD gauge. Also I have a bit of fingernail on index and middle finger. But it's real hard to keep nail on those 2 fingers. Posting a redux.
It's a trade secret. SSHHHHH. I won't tell. No. I don't know, I have so many people ask me that. The only thing that I can say is Rotosound Roundwound medium gauge strings and jamming out Rush tunes for 30 years
Anyone else notice that Rush seemed to be listening to the Police a lot when they did Signals? Not necessarily this song -- but a lot more "shimmering," held, guitar chords than before.
Awesome base playing. I can't say I like Rush all that much anymore, but that bass playing sure does it for me.
initially it took me 3 to 4 days to get it together, but I've known how to play it since it's release. i've been playing Rush for 30 years. Thanks also
Yeah man, a very nice woody Rickenbacker buzz. Honestly I wish Geddy would pick up the old dinosaur, the Fender Jazz sounds so tinny by comparsion. Great job!
I was at the Atlanta show on 6/13 and Geddy actually broke out the Rickenbacker to play A Passage to Bangkok during the encore. Just do a search for it and there is a video of Passage to Bangkok from West Palm Beach last week and you can see it. It won't let me post the link in here for some reason..
Excellent playing !!!

It does kinda' sound like a Rick, but it's lacking that bitey kind of attack that a
Rick is known for. But I am curious what you're playin' on???? You'll notice on our version of Digi Man....I use my Rick......
