How long can you ride before you have to charge it? and how long does it take to charge? my guess is id still be riding while you where re-charging. Its badass you would need one of these to play with and a motorbike haul real ass with.
I'm for electric bikes but you must think about where that electric charge is coming from. The electric company uses coal, fossil fuel , nuclear power or very little power generated from enviroment friendly sorces. If your thinking of the polution produced by the bike itself...Dirt Bikes and Street Bikes are used less often than cars/trucks. The polution is only a small fraction of what Automobiles produce. If you buy it, remember where the power is coming from. I like the stealth qualities.
These are nice but at $12k I don't see me ever buying one. I plan to do a homebuilt KX250 conversion sometime in the future with a crystalite hub motor from a company that has vids on YouTube. the motors cost a lot but put out 10kw . when you buy the controller, batteries and other parts you would not have more than $4k in it. I bought a 92 KX 250 with a bad engine for $200 and depending on the batteries and other factors it would run with these expensive new electric bikes.
All the world speaks of a new car generation with zeo emission that we can by in five or ten years. Cars with one or one and a half tonne of weight using 80 to 90 percent of it's energy to move it's own weight.
This machine is available now in 2010 and and has not more than 200 kilo gramms to move. The rest is the weight of the driver.
8k-10k for this bike! thanks but no thanks I'll stick to my $2500 250 rice burner.yeah it may burn gas but it only takes me 2 mins to refuel it and im off again for another hour or so.NEVER gonna catch on at those prices.
Charge it with wind or solar power. Never change oil, air filters, rings, pistons, seals, spark plugs, transmission oil, jetting,or antifreeze again!!!!!
Ride anywhere you want because no one would hear you! I have a street bike with a loose wire in the starter and a dirt bike that needs a new piston. I would rather just unplug and go.
It seems really nice but in the US it costs $10k and that's a pretty big chunk of change for this bike in my opinion. It is certainly more than I would be willing to pay for it.
@kawasakiman46 Well I wouldn't go that far. A high end Mtn. Bike can run a few thousand dollars due to the technology behind it. If this is well built I could see paying a few thousand but not $10k. That's a decent motorbike.
love this thing, it's like a mountian bike motocross hybrid. I can ride it in all the same places I ride my MTB. I want one to commute to work on, drop some stairs, takes a little single track by the river, rip through the park, launch some curbs into some urban snarl, wip through cars.....sweet.
No gears? I couldn't do it. I gotta have a clutch and gears. I love the sound too but I guess I'd be ok to ride a quiet bike. It'd be fun to take it to the mountain bike course where I snowboard
I've been dreaming of the same thing for many years and am happy to see that someone has got it together....I'd like to make something like that for heavier guys in the range of a 500cc of power in a similiar sized chassis.......I wish you the best and will be looking to see more from your group in the future......
Even if electricity comes from dirty coal, it is still about 3 times less polluting then pertol bike or car. Because power stations are more efficient than individual gas engines, and produce about 3 times less CO2 for same range.
This bike is more powerful than a standard 250cc gas powered bike. Do some research before claiming something like that. Electric motors are inherently more powerful than gas engines that weight much more. The only bottleneck so far were the batteries. Now, with onset of a123 and other LiFePo4 batteries- the problem is solved. Prepare for the death of gas dinosaur!
I'm going to buy one of these or the zeromotocross bike once I have the $ for it. It will be so awesome to be able to ride it anywhere without pissing off neighbors. With my current motox bike (yz450f) I have to drive 1 hour away to ride on a track. F that! With this bike I could ride in the trails behind my house and no one would even hear me. F'n awesome! 23 hp on a 140lb bike with instant torque? Sweet!!
This is my second year on two different electocross bikes, in US. I have plenty of moto and mountain bike experience...took that to the electrocross and I have never had a better experience. Ripping through mountain bike trails at night with dual beams is the very best, no-ones on the trail, you and your bro hauling ass through the woods on perfectly quiet machines...it is the best! I'll try and get some footage up soon.

Hmmm. Electric is probably ideal for motocross - doesn't need a huge range, it's QUIET, and pollutes about as much as a BMX.

Yea....no emissions except for the pollution created to produce that electricity to charge the damn bike

Zero emission???? Does electricity grow on trees in Germay? Very stupid. It's just as poluting, or more, as petrol bikes.
