  • what type of flute is that on the far right

  • @tarnisha0319 that is a contrabass flute. It is pitched in C, an octave below the bass flute, or two octaves below a standard flute. Wikipedia has a good article on contrabass flutes.

Much flute choir music doesn't have a specific contrabass part as they are more rare than other flutes, so players will often double the bass flute part (sounding down an octave). Google Woodbridge Flute Choir to hear more/buy their CDs.

  • WOW!! i never seen a bass flute that big!! .... really i think its the only bass flute i've seen!! =OOOO

  • This makes me wanna play bass flute. Then Id be the only guy and only bass flutist in our band =P That would be kinda fun. I like being different.

  • @Rodier1128 : I think it's actually a contrabass flute. Has a lovely sound.

  • I wonder how much air you've to blow to get the right sound on that ginormous bass flute!

  • That was pretty good, Lee! Great composition, and I loved when they turn to the camera man and praise him.

  • Yeah for Woodbridge Flute Choir!! Great piece of music Lee always love playing it.

  • BTW, the joke at the beginning that you can't hear that prompts the laughter (that you can hear) is that one of the players, in response to a baby in the audience crying, says,"Everybody's a critic." :)
