  • That is an Irish 5 pence coin. The word at the top "EIRE" is the Gaelic word for Ireland. This is the smaller variety, minted from 1992 on. Composition is 75% copper and 25% nickel. Nice find! I always enjoy getting foreign coins even if they aren't "valuable."

  • i found a coin that size too.think its a large cent.no date and can't make anything out on it too.but its the material and size that tells me its a large cent.

    That really corroded one you pulled out of your yard may be a commemorative medallion. Those letters appear to spell "Abraham," probably Lincoln. Might be from the period right after his death. ='[.]'=
