The reason they went to the "like" system was because people would only either rate 1 or 5, and they usually wouldn't vote at all if they didn't like it. It's a good system, but it's been poorly implemented.

@IareDewey I read that too, but with the 1 to 5 stars you could still see the ratio of people rating low to high - if it was 3 stars overall, for example, it'd be half the people thinking it was crap and half liking it. Now there is no such measure of quality.
