  • never seen something like this in 16 years of kung fu! Other way of life...we will never reach this level with office work and sedentary activities exept meditation.

  • Awsome! I wanna be that flexible...

  • tnx 4 da vid! i really needed to see these cuz i kinda forgot about these things... cuz i kinda stopped teakwondo for a year and a half

  • Have respact to the Grand Master KANG, i mean some people comment about him in a disrespactive way.

  • Great video... thanks!

  • Thank you for the information for the Shin Chul: stretching exercises

  • his not human:D

  • I was doing this as he did it... but then I got to 4:25 and they started skipping the other leg and I lost myself. This is an awesome stretching exercise though.

  • .... this guy has crazy flexibility

  • insane flexibility

    rubber guard ready, no doubt.

  • he s the real TAEkwondo master.

  • Very very good lesson for everyone

  • wow that guy is unreal, he really does make it look so easy. I've been stretching for an hour every day for the past month or so, when am i going to see results like that???????

  • It's not how long you stretch, it's how often and what method(s) you use and how you recover, eat, rest, etc... 1 hour every day could be too much.

  • It usually takes me about 30 mins to get warmed up by doing leg raises hip rotations and light stretches etc before I can get my full stretch. So its really only about half an hour stretching. I think i'm fully recovered because I dont feel stiff the next day, not anymore anyway. I'm really just looking for reasurance that all this stretchings going to pay off, from sumbody whos had to work to acheive flexibility.

  • if you've hit a plataeu try taking a week off all together and switching your focus to developing strength in the stretched positions and throughout the entire range of movement such as holding a stretch against resistance or with weights. (example: chair splits or chair splits with weight)

  • I see... Thanks for the tips.

  • after 20 years of practicing teakwondo

  • Beak Do San' type it in im really starting to think thats were they got the tekken character idea from this guy is really famouse in south korea you know.

  • u r the best my frend

  • It he wearing a canvas dobok, or just canvas pants?

  • holy crap thats freaken flexible.

hey anyone know what sumida means?

  • interesting

  • why does he remind me of baek do san from tekken

  • If we all work hard we will be able to :)

  • omg... i wish i could do that. please english subs xD

  • can someone post englisch subtitles please?

  • saw him in human weapon show

  • joshrain1 your not too late. the dojo i go to ive seen men and women at age 80 start martial art!

  • hey im in south korea right now! mar 11 08'

  • the slapping is a weird way to wake up his muscles.

  • Master shin chul Leyend of taekwondo

  • OMG....

  • am i too late, if i start at 25, male? (4 days/week for an hour)?

  • no your not to late i seen people come to the school i go to start martial srts at like age 40

  • I just started at aged 35 and am practicing about 4 days/week for 1 hr/day.

It takes a bit longer for your body to acquire muscle memory at this age, but this should not dissuade you.

  • very very nice

  • he is the legend master of taekwondo WTF

  • yes he is our master at kmai.

  • What and where is KMAI?

  • that is a very hard thing to do...

  • that is so sick! he's amazing! he looks like rubber! double thumbs up!

  • everyone's body responds differently to flexibility. depending on how you're structured is going to determine how quickly you can become and stay flexible at a level such as this. Never the less, I encourage everyone to make flexibility their top priority and do these exercises every day :D. I attempt to do my flexibility training 3 times at day in the morning, some time in the mid-day and an hour or so before I sleep. Keep practicing and you'll be amazed how far your body can go lol.

  • wow , thats how tkd should be

  • he's not human... hah..

  • well it is pretty human. we do the same in the yoga class (1st level:-) And it doesnt take 9 years like people write here.

  • how much time do u need to get as flexible as he is beginning from 0 ? :s

  • I took 9 years I'm more flexible than him, I started at 3 years old

    XD

If you strtch every day for about an hour you'll get like that in about a year I think, if you really work hard

  • Can you please post a video of yourself exceeding his level of flexibility?

  • Okay =D

  • a year if u are a man an not over 20 , if u are a girl , it depends , some girls are like that naturally

  • Cool tkd uniform

  • Cool tkd uniform he got on

  • amazing!!!!

  • "more of a Kazuya" ... do you mean Yakuza as in gangster?

  • Somethings wrong with this guy, that's just incredible ^^

  • ....... i don't do karate or whatever but i dance and i need this kind of flexibiliy :P so is it ok if i try this as well..i mean would they help me ? :D i can't split like he does though :S

  • is slapping the lags then rubbing them really a good warm-up for stretching?

  • yes, it promotes blood circulation sir

  • can beginners do this routine?

  • Why not? Listen to your body and only stretch as far YOU can. Be happy with whatever progress you make but never satisfied. Challenge yourself to continuously make small improvements and eventually, maybe one day you will see that you are approaching this master's skill

  • yes i bought 2 taekwondo training manuals, they both have different routines and don't explain them well just show you how to do them and then they just leave u lol

  • thank you very much for the advice :) i'm trying to learn taekwonodo without a teacher :(

  • You can learn to imitate but to truly learn you need someone that understands to watch, correct and guide you.

  • Not mention you need the one-on-one physical contact to learn self-defense and sparring. You can't learn to fight without a training partner or simply getting into a lot of fights. Start asking around at local YMCAs Healthclubs etc.. you'll find an instructor eventually.

  • adolfo33, I accidentally deleted your comment when I meant to hit reply.

    Please post it again.

  • Jajaj dont worry , what i said in my comment was that i am amazed at the flexibility and mastery of this taekwondo sensei ( i know it's a japanese term but i dont know how to say it in korean ) . I am an ashihara karate and hajime dachi practicioner and aside the fact taekwondo is not japanese i want to congratulate this master with a deep Osu!!!

  • Kam sa hamnida

  • thanks for the good tips. this is JUST what i needed: leg streching. i want my kicks go jodan, not chudan... :D (karate terms)

  • No translation !!???

  • No.

  • HOLY CRAP WAS THIS AWESOME!!

I'm going to have to do this too!

  • This man reminds me of Baek from Tekken, he's good.

  • looks really easy

    for beginners

j/k that's awesome flexibility, cool to watch some TKD stretches

  • Very Nice Stretching/Self Massage Routine.

  • does anyone know how old master kang is?

  • he sure has to be over 40 years even older than 50 because he has grey hair.

  • This guy's a beast.

  • i heard stretching is great for younger ppl who is growing up.. helps you grow faster and keeps you fit and flexible !:D

  • stretching has great health benefits for people of all ages. If flexibility is developed at a young age it is easier to maintain. Many stretches in this video are too advanced for beginners that do not stretch often or are not in excellent condition.

  • kicks just like hwarang in tekken...kool

  • Is*

  • Does slapping the legs another way of warming up the blood?

  • Its supposed to promote circulation

  • I want to do a full split.... Can anyone help me with advice?

  • Yes. Find a good teacher. Research PNF stretching. Get books by Pavel Tatsouline, and another called the Genious of Flexibility. Drink lots of water, stretch in the morning after cardio or strength exercises. Hold stretches for 10-30 seconds, multiple sets. Strengthen and stretch opposing muscles. Use tension throughout the stretch, do not bounce and listen to your body.

  • thx....

How often should I do flexibility workouts? Everyday? Or is it better like muscle training to give atleast 72h of rest between the sessions?

And If I'll do everything right, how fast can I expect to do a full split? I'm male 21y old.

  • Use Tom Kurtz's stretching methods, I could do frontsplits in 3 months, it would have been faster if I used his method earlier though. You'll be able to do it without warm up.

  • in the morning when you get out of your bed do de split and get lower lower and lower

  • I bet you there is exercise that train you to do split jet you will never acctually do one in the training.

  • thats insane :-O man..and i thought i was flexible lol

  • I guess he was the first Korean to teach the Iran taekwondo national team.

  • does anyone know how old he is? I know he's old but i forgot

  • I have never felt so inadequate as I feel after watching this master in action yet so inspired to strive for greatness and allow the juniors the same admiration, the road will be long but I take you on this journey with me thank you.

  • Wah, impressive.

  • 5th dan?

  • VERY BEAUTYFULL

  • think his slapping his legs to relax the muscles

  • yeah he is we do that at taekwondo as well

  • Yeah but we only slap the inner thighs, it's the first time I see someone slap the muscles of the whole leg.

  • great

  • mmmmhhhh....some movements are not the best for your knees. Your hips will be in trouble....

  • knees dude there is no problem with knees his exercise is perfect I mean if he is still ok(black belt kicks shit any time) then what is the problem?

  • oh wow at least u know that he dosent have arthritis

  • hi scott yes the slapping does 2 things if you slap muscle it makes for better bloodflow as healthy muscle should be like dogh when relaxed.then if you hit your tendons while stretching it will shock, then release the pressure allowing you to stretch further.people with heavy frame set or muscular build will generaly be unable to flex like this guy but can normaly create more power so its give and take

  • can they post a vid translated in english so its easier to understand

  • No. I don't speak Korean so I cant translate.

  • I think the slapping is to shake the muscles & promote blood flow to those areas. Also you should be relaxed when stretching, a relaxed muscle will shake when slapped.

  • Can someone tell me why his slapping his foot in the begging? i dont understand Korean.

  • Really nice

  • lo q es tener una cadera de goma...si quiero hacer eso con la mia termino en la guardia de un hospital.

  • great i finaly find out who this grey haired master is called iv seen him in a number of videos

  • ja der mann ist ein richtiges vorbild. Mit deinem alter noch so fit zu sein und auch noch an Poomse Turnieren teilzunehmen.. respekt!!

  • he is old but he is very flexible!Good job

  • OMG ... fantastic
