lol u beat the piss out of that thing!! Thanks again for the swap kit Rich, everythings running good and the headers get endless compliments. i still have an open diff right now so im just spinning endless tire.
R230 can't fit into S chassis. Q45 diff is a R200 diff. Don't know how much work it would take to modify z32tt rear subframe to fit. anything is possible to modify to put into a S chassis. Heard people putting 4-link system on. might want to take a look at 350z&G35 rear subframes too.
What is the answer then for a STRONG rear ends for the 240. I've had several nissans a 98 kouki open diff, 95 r33 gts vlsd, i now have a 95 240 may be with vlsd lol, i also swapped a j30 diff into a 96 240sx... and IMO they all seem bit weak... do you know about chevy rear ends or ford ones like 12 bolt or 14 bolt, or w.e. bolt count they are, to adapt wit ease to the 240 independent suspension
That you would recommend? i may do an LS6 or 2 now..possible TT XD
And yes the R230 doesn't bolt in but if you can put a v8 in a 240sx I'm sure you can remove the subframe and modify it to fit the R230 also use a CV drivers side from a Q45 and a driver side from the Z i think and you don't have to worry about custom axles
Also use Q45 or TT hubs since they got the 31 spline
I really don't consider Nissan diffs whimpy when you think about it they are really over built compared to most companies. 65 mustang gots a 8 inch like the 240sx
you diffinetly (lol) know what your talking about... for sure, i guess you are right on their deisgn... may be nissan knew, that as aficionados we're going to push the limit one day.... lol
i know cryo freezing axles and diffs is a good idea what do you think? trans and other things benefit too... specially brakes
well the Z32 transmission is strong its the same as the R33 tranny but if your going an american v8 just go with an american tranny nothing wrong with Brog Warner trannies although you pay a premium if it goes behind a Chevy
I got several 5.3Ls to use the reason why I won't swap one in my car is the cost of a 6 speed.
I'm honestly thinking about getting a wrecked mustang because they are so much cheaper (5.0L H.0.) with a 5 speed still able to put down 500hp more than what I need.
Since I got extra KAs laying around and already got a 5 speed I guess I might just rebuild it although the SR is such a better motor ground up I'm sure you've had them side by side or maybe tore down even. KA= torque but SR=response+ reliability which is better for a track day.
I honestly would like to do a RB30 one day for a drag car just to be different heck you can just use a RB20 head since your gonna wanna rework it anyways.
yes i put another welded i may try a q45 r230 diff with r200 cover and the z32tt and q45 axle swap. i hate vlsd .. maybe they sell a aftermarket lsd to swap into the r230 q45 unit. and no its not a open diff see how free it spins lol the pinion gear is waisted!
wrong, q45 is r200 with only 3.54 gears as the r230 came from the 300zxtt only. not q45! both shares the same even six bolt axles. the one that will bolt up to your 240sx with little to no mods is from the infinity j30s with the same axle bolt pattern smaller double side by side bolts but has vlsd which you mentioned you didnt like.
Get a t-bird 8.8 irs housing. fire in cobra 31 spline internals, and then run drive shaft shop axles. you will never again break a diff!

Well the R230 from the TT Z is a 9.3 inch diff with 15 bolts
So IMO it one ups the american diffs

Nice! open diff? what is going to be your next diff?
Liemciemdk89 3 years ago
Not open diff, but a "broken diff"...Lmao Ive done that before....
What is this r230 swap you are speaking of?.
So basically I've been thinking this as well..
But I was thinking along the lines of a complete z32 tt rear subframe swap(brakes, suspension, hubs diff etc)...
Say I got a whole unit from a z32 tt...would it bolt in with modified driveshaft/shocks?
Dvsconceptz 3 years ago
NO it is wider
But you can swap everything from the sub frame and shorten the axles
