each day with chronic illness' is difficult with its own new tests & trials but keep fighting :) im a type 1 diabetic on the pump myself among other issues- thank you so much for sharing your vid
omg i am so dumb ive had diabeatees snice i was 5 im now 14 and i cant put my pump on myself and im use to needles but then again ive always been use to ppl doing my needles my pump my shots for me ...im trying reall hard to do it myself but ill actually start to cry cuz i cant and it seems everyone and every kid can do but me!!!
i was diagnosed with diabetes 3-4 hours after making fun of a diabetic commercial and i was like " RRR IM DIABETIC I CANT EAT TWINKIES" then i was thirsty and my mom took me to the emergency room and they said that i had diabetes. D=
I'm struggling with my recent diagnosis, and it's hell on earth getting my insulin right. Had my first low bottom out.. in a hotel lobby last week. They're threatening me with a pump due to the severity of the shifts in my glucose.
I am very very nervous about the pump. Honestly, the idea of being "plugged in" just isn't palatable at all. I mean, what about sex... seriously. Explain to your paramour you're not part Borg.. don't think that's something I could handle. Any thoughts?
I understand where your coming from i felt the same. You get used to it. I don't even notice mine anymore until it beeps at me because its time to rewind it. As far as sex goes personally just detach the pump yeah you still have the little patch looking thing on your gut but it doesn't get in th eway of anything.
@zarry13 Yeah its pretty intimidating the first time you do it but actually you don;t feel it at all. You feel the large plastic thing hit you more than the needle. If you do it a couple times you'll realize that its no biggie :)
@guitardude5050 to be onest the injections hurt more than this you cant feel the thing after a second it doesent hurt realy you just feel a little shock
@guitardude5050 i use the silhoute. i dont like the automatic (putter in thing?) so i do it manually, it doesnt hurt at all as long as you change it every three days
@thatdudetyler As long as you pick a site with plenty of meat which hasn't been used in a while it wont hurt. It's very quick. Just make sure you give the area of the stomach that you use time to heal before using it again.
He has the medtronic. It costs $6,000. I don't know how much his insurance covers, but I have blue cross blue sheild and I paid 650. I also hve to pay $30 a month for supplies. Monthly supplies cost $300.
i have dropped my pump a few times and i go down with it cause it's just heavy. haha if it's in a good spot it shouldn't hurt if it gets tugged on. plus if you have sensitive areas yeah that will hurt.
daangg im scared to get on thee pump.. i dont want to feel attached or have anybody pull it out or summ happen... helluh scary buhh im tired of takingg 4 shots a dayy... is thee pump better??
personly i dont think so, ive had diabetes for neally 10 years now and i went on in aug 07 and came off it aug 08. but please dont let me put you off having it, go for it , and you fell like your going to pull it out but belive you me, i ride horses and i caught it one jumping!!!! but try it youll prob like it!!!
looool dude trust me I used to feel the way u do ..ABout it and thought Diabetes would never hit me but ahh well it did a year now and I have to inject 4 times a day Im good with it...ITs not that bad at all because I have to...OVercome your fear lol
i am so thrilled to have a pump and i use the same one as the boy in the video and yeah its so much easier since ive been on it better numbers and so much more =) i love that thing!
and hey do yall get low or high in the middle of sports message me with ur anwcer cus i get high and dont know why
I ahte when I put that type on and it hits liek a nerve or something and ur jsut like "Oh *%@% @%#%@ %@%!~% #&$!!!!!" At least the needle isn't taht big.
Mate, leave the paper covers of the cannula on, then push down once it is in the blue infusion setter. Then release the setter, now remove the white covers, push the cannula back down via the plastic needle cover, and do your normal procedure from here. Good luck
There giving us a FREE one touch® ultra link™ Meter. I am so happy, I got the mail yesterday and it said that the wireless glucose meter will be commeing to my house at june 30th. Medtronic is the best!
"though, cuz i didn't have enough fat so it hit my muscles. I did it in the butt and it didn't hurt at all!"
Ya I had to do it on my butt because I am supper skinny. But after I got used to it I switched it to my stomach. My levels have never been better
I did that for my first time today, i couldnt do it in my stomach though, cuz i didnt have enough fat so it hit my muscles. I did it in the butt and it didnt hurt at all!
I got my 722 more than 3 weeks ago. Wow! What a difference. Diabetes is so much easier now. Earlier I posted cause I was scared of that long needle. It didn't hurt at all!! Only half of that needle goes in and it leaves a plastic canula and the needle comes out! But for some reason I do still get nervous to pull the trigger but I get over it. Fantastic. Blood sugars are much much better.
cool. i have a pump like that but with out the skin on it.i use the quick set too. it doesnt hurt that bad, but how can u have people watch you? it makes me nervous and and i cant insert it.
Its better then doing the X number of times doing daily injections and also, you will have much better control of ya sugars with just one type of Insulin which is used in pumps, the Quick acting Insulin like Novolog, Regular and so on.
Thanks for your comment. I feel a whole lot better now. Still havent gotten my pump yet but the nurse is making a note to get me a 722 with the glucose montering system. Today I checked almost evry 40 minutes. I still cant believe it. 2 hours after I ate things went from 120 to 220??
Im gona get the 722 in 3 more months. Im so happy no more stupid syringes or pens.
But 1 thing CRAP! I didn't know you had to put it in you that way, gross. Im scared now lol. Have a couple of questions since im so freaked out by your vid. How long and how thick is the needle? Dose it hurt any more then a regular injection from a syringe or a pen.
hello iv just read your comment asking does the insulin pump infusion set hurt more than a regular shot with a pen. NO, im scared of needles and the insulin pump is great, i have the 522. when i put the cannula/needle(quickset- 6mm in length) in with the inserter device, you dont feel hardly anything and its alot less painful than the pen. just a press off a button and its done. you will be free from injections for 3 or 4 whole days

does type 1 diabetes do something to the human body, except remove your own insulin so you have to use that kind of pump or a pen.
