  • oscar. i want a 70s strat issue. yours sounds amazing here. i am on the fence on getting a mexican or an american. i already have an american standard strat as my main axe, but i want a 70s strat for pure nostalgia purposes. i heard their isnt much difference in the mexi and american 70s strats other than the stock pickups. what do you recommend? i dont mind swapping out the pickups if i have to, but i'm hesitant on buying a mexican guitar. it might turn out to be a mexicant! holler back!

  • I have one of these Japanese made 70's Reissue Strat, except mine is left-handed ,cream white with a rosewood neck(cause I'm a southpaw). Its still in Japan, a friend is keeping it for me. I was studying abroad in Nagasaki, and I bought it at a small music shop called Honda Music. I went there one day, played it once and fell in love with it(I'm used to LP's that says a lot). Unfortunately I came back before the disaster and didn't get a chance to bring it back with me. Going back to get it soon

  • That is the perfect strat... I so want it! The headstock, the look, the sound, the pickups, the fact that it is made in japan and in 94 which is when I was born. amazing... GASSING!

  • right around the 2:05 mark when you started playing I made the "God damn dude" face. Sounds wicked.

  • Who doesn't want the Yngwie sound!?!

  • I just picked up a 2004 Jap 70s RI from eBay as well (in black w/maple neck) and was thinking of putting those very pups in it, so thanks for doing this vid! on the kinman site the woodstocks sound awesome, but I was worried about losing the nice Fender clean tone - yours seems to clean up really nicely though, so now I want them even more. do they compress much when the volume heads north, or can they stay pretty clean if need be?

anyway great playing mate, and good vid.

    cheers

  • now THATS how you do a fuckin guitar demo!

  • This is a great video!! I love the way you are! I think when I have a bad day you would be the one who makes me happy :-D

Great playing and you pickups sound warm I think!

    Best regards!

    Chris

  • COOL! You're one of these guys with magic hands. Poor tone is apparently impossible for you! As they say, it's all in the hands. Great video!

  • Everyone's busy commenting on race or his expressions, this man can play period. Thats all that needs to be said, Keep rockin'! Oh and yeah the guitar sounds amazing.

  • omg lol

  • Hey mindaflame7.....I gotta remember that acronym for rap..LOL

  • I Dig it!

  • You one funky brutha mayne! I got the same guitar cept mine is MIM and I got the Fender Custom Shop Texas Special pups. Got mine of Craigslist. The headstock, trussrod and overall styling is to die for. Awesome guitar. Awesome playing!!

  • I'm happy for you but I'll get happier when I get that sound !

  • does the woodstock pickups have good malmsteen and hendrix tones?

  • yeah it's perfct for Hendrix Tones, hence the name 'Woodstock'. They handle High Gain really well also so they should be good for Malmsteen aswell. P:)

  • 1970 fender strats ruled!!

  • props to the warriors and ur licks

  • Great Sound, Great Player,

Exactly the one I wanted to purchase.... where can I find such one...?

  • FINALLY!!! I find a brother in youtube with great musical taste, and the chops to go along with it!! You ROCK MAN!!!! Down with rap R-etards A-ttempting P-oetry, and GO ROCK & ROLL!!!

  • If one can sound like Jimi, and Yngwie, what else is there to want for?

  • Wow. Love the bigger headstocks on the 70s models. Also, where could I get a nice clean blusey sound (hendrix/allmanbrothers) for real cheap? Im a beginner guitarist and I dont want to spend a crazy amount of money. Im willing to buy used gear.

  • a mim standard strat

  • real nice playing man...cool guitar & vid.

got to go practice some more!

any idea how the USA 70s reissue compares?

  • Is yours heavy or lite? my mexican 70s reissue is pretty lite. just wondering.

  • Man, you made my day better! Great guitar you have.

  • Man I 'm happy for ya :-)

you sure love to play.. i can see that.

Even Yngwie Does not have that tone nowadays... Cool.

  • was def feelin it right around 3:00....

  • yup I agree Japs scored high in quality

  • lol. lovin' the headstock,

  • japanese strats are better than mexican or american strats

  • Incorrect. American are the top range.

  • in tone. but playing wise, action wise, and pretty much everything else besides tone, japanese strats win.

  • lol

  • nice words! and that geetar is phenomenal - killer headstock!

  • Band of Gypsies=ultimate win.

    nice guitar

  • Comment removed

  • Again, very cool!

So, which is your all-time favorite guitar (obviously among those you've owned or played extensively)? And where does the SG2000 rank?

  • My wife says you and I sound the same. I told her you're my long lost brutha! We should jam.

    -Arroyo-

  • Wow, Kinman Pickups? I heard great things about them! They are expensive.

    -Arroyo-

  • You should be a guitar salesman

  • Very very cool video:D

  • Hey Bro, Happy your happy. I just wish I could be as happy.

  • Great Jimi chops!! very nice Strat tone as well !

  • i really enjoyed your blues pickin, you can do it all with a strat

  • how do those pickups sound overdriven??

like yhe strokes kind of tone =P

do they put out good classic rock tones??

just tryin to decide what p-ups to buy =)

  • Nice Strat! Im also using a 1994 MIJ 70s reissue! My first strat in 17 years, and 2nd ever. Since buying this my Les Paul, and Epiphone Dot have seen a lot more case-time... Im still running the stock pups if you wanna hear em (through a Boss SD-1 and Marshall JVM 900 that is...) I was looking for that big headstock, and Black color... but this natural, not its not close, but its low key enough for me (I stopped buying neon colored guitars in 1990).

  • hey, i have the same olympic white one as you but i have a rosewood neck, but how did you get a 94'?from researching up on this guitar, i saw that they were made from 1983-1984.what do you think?

  • Wow man I feel your love for that guitar.

  • i have the same guitar, its an 83 reissue from japan.....its one of the best guitars i have played, and ive played a few....

  • Congrats with the guitar. Good playing and a funny video...."caring nurtureres that you are :))) " Absolutely worth watching.

Heard a lot of JSX videos but seem to like the Marshall sound better for blues and satriani/vai/ malmsteen stuff.

    Best wishes

  • VERY nice

    *Peace and Happiness*

  • maybe he wears the shirt just like yngwies tech does and its a inside joke about his name

  • My man...I dig the "grunts" in the middle of the solos....Was that the Crossroads movie ending solo duel with the devil you did?!?!

    Peace!!!

  • Hey man, I AM a caring nurturer and that was awesome! But why would you wear a shirt that says "Yngwie Who?" Everybody knows "who", man, c'mon. In fact when I'm up on stage doing his covers people say I LOOK just like him. Ok, confession time, my "stage" consists of my living room, and ok, another confession, it's air guitar, but still man...keep up the good work, and if you're ever that bored again come on over and we'll crack open a beer and jam to some Malmsteen & Garfunkel !!! Rock on!!!

  • i love big headstock strats! i refuse to play anything else. you tore message to love a new ass hole my friend. i got a jap 68 reissue. its a doozey. the jap strats are beautifuly made. does yours have a real skinny neck?

  • The neck is a U shape. It's not as bad as I thought it would be because I usually like the big C 60's necks. I like the neck a lot. It's very vibey and it's the first Strat I won't tear apart.

  • Hi,Oscar... I have lurked at HarmonyCentral for YEARS and have always loved your posts. I saw the pics of this guitar on HC and ran across your video here...AWESOME guitar. I'm also a big Yngwie fan here, own quite a few Yngwie strats myself. Cool guitar and great playin, man.

  • Thanks man. Lurk no more!!!

  • yes that makes sense,it would loose its character with a big dobby floyd rose trem ..people like yngwie ..ritchie blackmoore...hendrix...clapton seem to give theres a lot of stick and it stays in tune...most annoying.

  • yeah i got one as well had to change the pickups and had jumbo frets but on and now its better than the usa version....appart from the damm tremelo going out of tune.....does this happen on yours?

  • Yeah, the tremelo goes out a little but then again I don't have my strings stretched out. It kinda goes with the territory unless you get a Floyd.

  • @vvblues put nut sauce at all points of contact with the strings. Problem solved forever. I never tune my guitar during the set no matter how much I abuse the tremolo.

  • nice guitar man love the color!
