ok man now the was cool, i am pro on snakehead because i liked theme too much and arowanas looks like snakehead too but suddenly i jumped up to an arowana and bought one but could you tell me whats drop eye? Best Wishes
@bloodykiss0628 Most of what I've heard is they'll fight, my current arowana was a return from someone who bought two and they were fighting, also vids I see with more then one are almost always tore up.
Just feeds a variety choices of foods. Its not only help with the colors also help the silver a healthy grow. Pellets, frozen bloodworms, mealworms, shrimps. Live feeders goldfish should be given to the silver once a while per years.
huge fan of your tank bud the sting ray is a great touch that i dont think ive ever seen in a arowana tank. the aro looks great and its nice to see someone that acctually has a big enough tank for once.good job man
@pyroman1000k I got some nice gold color from my first arowana which I thought was from putting him on pellets. My second arrowana was fed on freezedried river shrimp before I got him and he's got the same gold/blue color. So I'm not sure where it came from but both I've had have it.
also their are some people from LFS that ask for some new shipments to their store for these species where they are getting some wild and captive ones in stores but its highly unlikely but their are many experts find that some are wild and some are not but what body figure they got that other specimens dont have
you may have yourself a wild one...since your silver arowana isnt forming any dropped eyes on any side...and for wild ones their a rarity for having one....for expect it to gain about 36"-48"
Actually....all silver arowanas are caught from the wild. There has been no record of any silver arowanas been breed in captivity. Also, dropeye is just an adaptation for arowanas to look down because normally their eyes are always upward looking. That is a perfect arowana though
are you sure cause their are a group of people in the global MFK group where a specialized of breeders are actually breeding silver arowanas and other species of arowanas in new zealand....its actually not even suppose to be told out to others but thats just where they are breeding theirs. They have some wild arowanas in their facility but mainly captive breds are kept for the shipments to places around the world for other LFS
yeh, I'm almost positive because it's cheaper to catch them wild then breed them in captivity. They breed silvers in captivity mainly for gene splicing purposes, like the famous platinum silver arowanas that went for $300,000. I'm sure they do sell those that are bred in captivity, but only the extras. Not completely sure on their purpose, but this is my 2 cent
really, really nice aro. what kind of lighting do you use in this tank? it seems to really enhance those red/violet colors on the fins and brighten the scales on the body. f
I don't believe dropeyes are caused by the fish's gaze downward. After all, fish in the wild would be more vigilant at looking at all directions, both in search for food and protection from predators or signs of danger. In fact, I believe fish in aquariums are looking upward far more often than their wild cousins due to being trained to take food from owners and safe environment that make them lazy.
nice silver arowana i just bought one 3 days ago my looks just like yours with the red ouline around it, well what do you feed yours because my wont eat sumtimes dont know y

hey I was wondering if there's like foods for arowanas that help making blue and redish colors.
pyroman1000k 3 years ago
i heard from many aquarists that shrimps help with the colors.

okay, just to let you know.. there is a Blue arowana.. but im not sure about this one.. if its the light or if its actually blue.
MyDrumNoGood 3 years ago
i've kept blues as well as silvers. this one is a silver. aside from colors, these two species also have differing body shapes.
angeladay 3 years ago
@MyDrumNoGood Your right but the blue isn't naturally occurring, it's forced that way, they're dyed by injections.

I keep mine with catfishes and he got dropeyes.
