@WildBoxPictures u sir are an idiot it has a harder time outputting heat like this I and it puts strain on the heatsinks x clamps hence the rrod from a non proper seated heatsink. now ---- it out puts heat better and the heatsink is sitting ontop of the board so there is really no strain on x clamps hence no rrod same with new slims i've notice my slim get pretty hot when its vertical but when it is horizontal it is much cooler, remember heat rises if its vertical it will try to go thru the top

I think its more because you face it upwards. Leaving it upwards gives the laser a harder time reading the disk giving the drive a less longer life. If you leave it flat it should be no problem. Also all you have to do is change the DVD drive and it will be new again ;)

all you need to do if it is the reading reading open tray is just keep on pressing A multiple times until the xbox reads the disk.

How to fix it;

1. Make sure your Xbox is on, open the disc tray (whichever way you would like to) and remove the disc, close the tray, turn off your Xbox, turn off mains.

2. Turn mains on, start up your Xbox 360, wait for everything to load, open the disc tray, then turn off the Xbox WHILST the tray is open, the Xbox should then turn itself off then the tray will shut.

3. Start up your xbox, open the tray, insert whichever disc, your games/dvd's should load INSTANTLY :)

tell u what mate u got to open the tray and blow in it if that dosent work take the xbox apart then get a lighter and burn it a little blow it out then put it back together it shold work my problem is when u go to connect to xbox live it always sais cant connect same as yours i try connect it dosent freze but it only goes like nothin im bored shit without it and getting a full refund thats what im gonna do ok mate hope this really really really really really really helped ok mate see ya soon bye

@MPC45000 i'm pretty sure it's to do with just dust and stuff. i'd send it in for repairs at any local 360 repair place if it's past its warranty, since opening it up is hard as crap
