GREAT JOB! As an English hornist, I have played this piece many times. Although not technically difficult, it is EXTREMELY difficult to pull off well, as well as playing in tune (from my aspect, there are lots of alternate fingerings one has to use, and there's lots of lipping up and down to keep them in tune) ... you really need to have "that connection" with the pianist and trumpeter. I actually enjoy the piano vs. the strings for the "accompaniment."
Very nice. It's not easy to pull of any sort of emotional 'pull' through the reduced audio provided with YouTube and the space that you were in - but I felt it just the same - so very nice job.
This Copland piece is quite rare, but to all fans, a classic. Awesome job! You captured the emotions of the chords. Bravo! So simple, only 3 instruments.
This is a hard song to pull off. i'm doing it for solo and ensemble (I play trumpet). It's so so so beautiful though, I love it. You guys are well on your way to perfecting it =] Trumpet sound is gorgeous but If I may, I would suggest overall you could use a little more dynamic contrast.
Yep, probably could go with the dynamics, though there's also balance with the cor to work out. Awesome piece though. Played it on 3 occasions now with the same crew.
I'm playing this in my recital. The sustained C is the only problem for me. How did you pace yourself to be able to play it in tune consistently. Not bad for practice. Try to put more feeling into it. Let it flow with less articulation. Your performance was good.
Thanks for sharing this video: I'm planning a performance of this and your video is one of the few opportunities I've had to hear the piano reduction. I was afraid to program it before because I didn't know if the reduction was useable. Obviously, it's a pretty good reduction, and you three sound great on it.
Look at where we are 'performing' (practicing) it. In a crappy little room with no audience. Is this a serious question or a 'mock up'. Audio had to be spliced together from a few different performances also since we stopped a few times.
Great job! I'm not a musician of any sort, unfortunately, but a fan of Copeland and of all great music.
