  • theres 2 versions , 1 is Voodoo child and then there is Voodoo Chile (A slight return)

  • WHo cares how you spell child, Hendrix was saying child whether he said chile or child he was black and that's how they talked back then. Anyway, my point is who cares how it's spelled this song is the most influential rock song EVER. Hands down.

  • i bet the guitarist felt like a complete idiot.

  • Great stuff; why no backup from the band?

  • great

  • please tell me what key the harmonica is in?

  • @kentishtown1

Harp is Ab (A Flat) in 2nd position.

    Hope that helps

  • that's great thank you... I've been playing for a few years and i really want to try that at my next gig. I doubt if it will be half as spectacular...

  • jimi rocks but how the hell on earth do you know hes proud?

  • Jimi is proud.....great representation and tone.

  • COol stuff! Love it to the max!

  • WOW!!!

  • Very nice done man! Keep on going.

    Salute from Brazil!

  • great !!

  • Oh and by the way - it's Voodoo Chile, not Child. He'd forgive me... Cheers, Stu

  • you made the same mistake. its "Child"...

  • Well, according to my original vinyl copy of Electric Ladyland it's actually "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)". "Voodoo Chile" is the extended blues jam on side 1. I see the Hendrix estate has retrospectively renamed the shorter one "Child", which is daft, because there is no "Slight Return" then. Either they are both "Chile" or both "Child", or there's no connection. Anyway MY version is Chile, so there!

  • I've also had a look on Wikipedia - a very dodgy source, I admit - where there is a fairly raging discussion. One guy reckons the American pressing has "Child" and that there are copies of notes with Jimi amending the title from "Chile" to "Child". Who knows - were they Jimi's amendments? Either way, I grew up with "Chile" and I think the two songs are connected. They have the same chorus and the same basic riff. Look what you dragged me into!

  • @DetectivePayne the real song is voodoo chile. the people who made the cd teased jimi about how he pronounced chile without the "d" sound. so when they published the song it was called "voodoo chile"=]

  • Cheers Russ! It's about as rough and ready as I remember!

  • good stuff oxharp
