This was actually the first of the Waldimar Daninsky films and much butchered by the American distributors. The full uncut version, The Mark Of The Werewolf, is now available on DVD and makes a lot more sense than this version. I remember this film from its rotation on the Sunday Morning Movie back in New Orleans and I always liked Paul Naschy films.
I first saw this movie in 1973 I was nine. For some reason the countess reminded me of Jackie Onassis. Still, the countess has the sexiest bite scene in any of those movies of the day.
Mark Of The Wolf Man (1968) has NOTHING to do with Frankenstein (you see some independent theater chain over here in 1971 needed to have a Frankenstein movie and the guys who where supposed to deliver it , well, dropped the ball, so they just retitled this Spanish import) and it was originally shown in a polarized 3-D during its theatrical run. This is Paul Nashy's 1st werewolf flick and it makes a bit more sense in its Spanish language. Decent Gothic horror flick bit slow at times.
A highly unusual, and sometimes artful, werewolf/vampire mash-up that never ceases to entertain... even when it isn't entirely clear what's going on. Three stars!
I haranged my dad into taking me to see FRANKENSTEIN VS DRAULA having read about it in famous monsters of filmland. he took me and this was the co feature that opening. about wolfstein has been in my head ever since. havent seen this since. then. thank you youtube.

Crazy it was actually filmed in 65 mm and blown up to 70mm. That's twice the size of regular hollywwod standard 35mm!

If I'm not mistaken, "The Werewolf Vs The Vampire Woman" is the sequel. Great stuff.
