How do you play as knuckles?

@Nitrometutorials That depends on what system you're playing it on, and if you aren't playing it on the original Megadrive/Genesis, then it depends on what collection you're playing.

On the original console you need a copy of Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles, and lock the two carts onto each other.

Otherwise it's usually listed as "Sonic 3 and Knuckles" on the different compliations.

If you're playing the Ultimate Genesis Collection, you're out of luck.

When sonic defeated Robotnik in the Doomsday Zone his plans were ruined but Egg Robo (the same badnik as in Sky Sanctuary) took the master emerald. Hence Egg Robo is knuckles boss (except for flying battery where you face Robotnik - presumably due to a glitch)

VERY nicely done. I really like that you did not use Super/Hyper. I don't like when people use those on runthroughs like this because it doesn't tell you anything. The Hydrocity main boss is very difficult as Knuckles. You made it look...easier :)

Mate, great video but here are a couple of things:

1) What is "Gakin"? Every Sonic player knows that is actually a Tunnel-Bot.

2) You can actually get to the CN-Boss by going slow and then climbing up the pipe which Sonic is flung up to get to the Boss.

That's Eggman's Egg Robo and the toughest of its series. Robotnik built him to try to kill off Knux with having to expose his villanous nature. There are other, weaker versions of him that sport jetpacks and weird "long"-range laser guns in Sonic/Tails' version of the "Sky Sanctuary Zone".

I haven't missed it. You aren't supposed to fight it. Since you can't fight it outside of a glitch or using Debug mode I didn't record it.

These two videos are specifically only the bosses Knuckles are supposed to encounter. This was done so I wouldn't recieve constant messages of "OMG KNCUX CNT FIGT THAT HCKER".

I will be doing the "missing" bosses at a later date, I haven't gotten round to recording it yet.

@ACESpark You're not meant to fight it, but it's literally just an issue of climbing up the long tube to the fight. You don't need debug or other cheats, just a lot of patience.

Is this different than just Sonic The Hedgehog 3? Because I have beaten Sonic the hedgehog 3 with Tails and never have I fought some of these bosses. And I can't do any lock on because it's on the Wii, I am gonna buy it for my 360 though because Sonic & Knuckles came out and you can lock on!

If you have a Wii, you might be better off getting a copy of the Gamecube game Sonic Mega Collection. Much better value for money, and you get several Sonic games on the disc. It shouldn't cost too much.

You only fight the hand boss as Sonic or Tails when playing Sonic 3 on its own. It's very hard, and not even Super form help.s (due to a bug or some sort of ****, it can hurt Super Sonic with those hands.)

You can glide into Big Arms, which makes hitting him easier as you have a more accurate angle of decent.

But since Knuckles jumps so low he struggles against the big tall Laser Shooting Boss.

1) Yes, that's the case. He can't jump as high, but he has other abilities to compensate.

2) It's a rouge Egg-Robo robot. Knuckles doesn't face Robotnik at all, outside a glitch in Sonic and Knuckles.

One time in Carnival Night Zone as Knuckles, I actually somehow glitched the game and it let me fight Sonic's boss, by climbing up the tube that Sonic normally goes up. It tries not to let you do it, so I had to keep jumping up and using the wall cling...it was years ago so I forget.

Anyhoo, that's first time I saw that boss. I only ever got past Carnival Night as Knuckles, until I figured out the infamous Barrel of Doom as Sonic...yeah, you know what I mean. x.x

As for the glitch, that means you slipped into sonics path. That's how that happens. I know cause every time I play while looking for Big rings I alway end up missing the path for Knuckles so I end up having to fight that boss.

No, that was wrong. After Sonic's storyline in S&K, Knuckles gets revenge on Robotnik. Since Robotnik is tired from the fight with Sonic, he sent his Eggrobo to hurt Knuckles.

Actually there is an additional place where you can hit the Egg Arm. When he drops down from the sky, he pops up briefly before levelling off below the stage. While popping up it is possible to spindash into him, getting an additional hit.
