Let's go back to the period this commercial was made and assume that we weren't yet aware that smoking was bad for you.....

0:15-0:20: "They know what a pleasure it is to smoke a mild, good-tasting cigarette....."

In other words, only DOCTORS were smart enough to know that mild, good-tasting (!) cigarettes were a pleasure to smoke??? I guess they picked that up in medical school. The lower-echelon--bus drivers, assembly-line workers, etc.-- were just too uneducated to figure that out.

Lots of other stuff cause cancer that haven't been outlawed. Cell phones cause brain cancer yet they are still legal and advertised. Most of the food you buy causes cancer because it contains pesticides and growth hormones and a myriad of chemicals. But let's not worry about that, let's just focus on tobacco use because that was the only industry ratted out by an insider.
