  • insane sound.. i fuckin love them...

  • Shouldn't this song be titled "Trip Inside This House" instead?

  • this song is unbelievable.

Estou passando a letra p/ o portugues, vou fazer o possivel pra continuar ótima pra enfim eu orgulhosamente apresentar pra galera ahaha

    peace out

  • Is the

  • DrMezmeric that

  • fuck yeehaw i love this roky

  • the jug cant come back......it never went out

  • Slip inside this house, bitch!

  • desert.

  • This would'be been an awesome band if they didn't have that little annoying sound in the background on every single song. You know what sound I'm speaking of.

  • @AntiquatedPoet the jug is what gave the Elevators their distinction.......group up in Houston when these guys were doing the club scene, my neighbor married the drummer.

  • @texadillo53

I grew up in Houston also and remember the Elevators quite well. One of my friends dated Roky for awhile before she met Townes Van Zandt and became his GF.

  • @texadillo53 Well, they definitely achieved that distinction. I do find the jug interesting, but like with any instrument, you should never overdo it, in which they did.

  • Electric Jug, OK... but lyrics lyrics lyrics - Tommy Hall's biggest contribution!

  • I am still a fan of Roky Erickson.

  • Roky is a true hero.

  • esoteric!beautiful!And strangely catchy

  • the whole album is superb

  • these guys are the reason for 80's alt rock

  • I bought the expanded version of Easter Everywhere yesterday. Just amazing

  • Erickson should have just done the time and then maybe, who knows, there would have been a greater legacy from this often forgotten, seminal psychedelic band. Another loss for the mind and the ears. That one instrument serves as the nervous system for this tune. I don't know what it is called but I believe its latin. One of the members in Miles Davis' band, circa the Bitches Brew years, used to play it a lot. It's like a jug of some sort where the sound is made by rubbing the inside.

  • @occams99 I know what you're talking about, I even saw that video with Miles Davis' band, but nah it's definitely not that.

The 13th Floor Elevators invented an instrument they called the "electric jug", which was pretty much a jug Tommy Hall held up to a microphone and made strange noises with his mouth. No band has done it since. Definitely what gave their music their psychedelic sound, in the absence of studio effects.

  • I haven't done LSD in 30 years. Boy did the Elevators ever capture that body-brain pulse. It actually nails it.

  • LSD pours out of every fucking nano-second of this track. Beautiful.

  • I love the number of views this has. "You're Gonna Miss Me" is great and all, but this is what the Elevators were REALLY about. This is their masterpiece. Oh God, I can really feel the music right now.

  • This is great music that is hard to find these days, too bad those days of really amazing great music are over.

  • @TheTruthOfSpirit While you're right, I recommend checking out Animal Collective's "Merriweather Post Pavilion". Brilliant psychedelic electronic album, came out in 2009. The first real psychedelic album I've heard outside the 60's and 70's. It doesn't matter what time we're in. The trip has just begun. ;)

  • @TheOneartist

Spacemen 3 are the zenith of UK psychedelia. Don't see iot in AC at all. Nonsense.

  • Comment removed

  • @kingharryL4 Then you probably haven't listened to the right album. Their earlier albums are more indie and experimental, but "Merriweather Post Pavilion" is full-fledged psychedelic pop. I'm surprised you wouldn't hear it. All the psychedelic effects and layers. Even the lyrics match what I felt on my trip, and include some allusions, too.

Also helps to know that countless others have called the album psychedelic as well.

  • @MrFlyingB REoky is now good he has new album after 15 years search Roky Erickson and Okkervil River-real love cast out all evil.Stacy is dead for long time he is been killed by his girlfriend. And Tommy is in San Francisko and still do acid and weed. And i think that he is divorced with Clementine. sorry for my bad english :D

  • last I heard Tommy was in jail,no idea about clementine, stacy had his own band for awhile,Rocky was in witchta falls with his mom----bat fuck krazy still thinks the aliens are after him, dunno man, just goes to show that when you step outside the parameters of what big bro thinks is proper thinking what can happen.

  • Where is Rocky now?

  • Makes me feel good.

  • As much as I fucking love 13th Floors, I must say Primal Scream bring this song to a completely new level !

  • @pentura

That, Sir, is a bloody decent comment!

  • you dont need acid for this music it makes you see the truth without drugs..maybe smoke some fried banana peels might do the trick

  • great song great band too bad the establishment had too destroy something they didn't understand america home of the free what a joke at least we have the music thanks for the music long live 13th floor elevators

  • @psychedelicman67 What the fuck are you talking about?

  • @psychedelicman67 lol run on sentence fail

  • @psychedelicman67 too bad about the establishment

  • stunning, my fav song of all time!!

  • Blow on a jug....

  • the center of my forehead just opened up. i think theres an eye there. ah i see..

  • I drive to work listening to this, Sonic Youth, Lou Reed, ACDC and Nancy Sinatra.

And occasionally the BBC World news

  • @moosey62 yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • @moosey62 cool.....i listen to this band when i take anxiety meds & drink gin ,,,wow,,,calmnesssssss ♥

  • @moosey62 that's about as eclectic as it gets there moosey

  • Does this song mean that this house is more comfortable? I used to think that hippocampus was where hippopotamii study.

  • IMO, one of the greatest songs ever written. Period.

  • if you want to know what this song is about, what it's trying to teach you, then google search 'process metaphysics'

  • Is it me or does this listening to this song alone make you feel like you're on acid?

  • @ctriamimgons the hypothallamus is energised by this music. thats why we are tripping listening to it.

  • One of the BEST!!!

  • @McDicker96 don't forget the butthole surfers?

  • @RJPX50 i like the surfers, but they pale in comparison to this soundtrack of the universe.

  • good good good good good good good good good good good good good !

  • All your lightning waits inside you....

  • @ocmchannel yeh thats nice

  • Kannte bisher nur die Cover-Version von Primal Scream. Danke für Deinen Upload. Absolut ausgezeichnet, Psychedelic Rock par excellence! .

  • mmmmmm....smooth,pretty-a little bit spooky-- great stuff to blast at the neighbors when I need to drown out whatever useless rap junk they are attempting to poison this world with.

  • Just caught this one on the local college radio station in Atlantaj. Hadn't listed to Roky and boys in years--fantastic to remember these 8+minute psychedelic jams!!!

(Thanks WRES 88.5 -- "right on the music, left on the dial)

  • drugs suck, they make u stupid and listless.

  • @crotchboots *listens to song*...*looks back at the comment*....sure, what ever you say....

  • @crotchboots or save your life. open that mind of yours just a tad enough to realize the incomprehensible douch-baggery of your blanket statement. you probably drink like a fish or just suck period. when you get cancer we'll make sure you don't get high. putz!

  • @crotchboots nuh uh

  • @crotchboots YOU make listless n stupid ;)

  • @crotchboots is that what happened to you

  • i knew a dude in vietnam into this...too bad he didnt make it

  • when I was bleeding to death this is the music that was playing as the slithering clanking chains of hell bubbled out of the toilet

  • @dashdeception ...soo it was a good trip???

  • @MDProdTV hahahayeh it was great. It's still going, along with the music as i bled out took the chains from the toilet and make jewelry w/them to this day. LOVE & PEACE

  • @dashdeception Me too!

  • Lyrics are incredible.

  • I prefer Primal Scream's version. Much more "high"...

  • psychedelia purissima, il loro miglior pezzo

  • I really love the beggining of this song, but somewhere in the half it start to get boring to me like they lose the concept.I like the elevators and Roky's newer stuff.Especially You're gonna miss me,Bloody Hammer,For you I'll do Anything...

Sorry for my bad English cause I'm from Serbia(East Europe),and 15 years old.Probably the younger in my Country that listen the Elevators

  • @mirkopozarevacmps bas mi je drago kad vidim da mladi slusaju ovakvu musiku! I engleski ti nije los. Ako volis ovakvu muziku probaj da poslusas moju muziku markovich.bandcamp.com. I ako hoces mogu da ti preporucujem neke grupe.

  • Thank you for bringing back my college years. Too bad they were only around a short time.

  • @tamerswan No i'm not self employed. I am single but that's the way i like it.

  • super groovy stuff to blast when others play modern junk in the background

  • Texan Roky Erickson's howling voice and Tommy Hall's Electric Jug are unforgettable.

  • Roky Erikson's voice and Tommy Hall's Electric Jug are unforgettable.

  • the lyrics are discriptive, they tell a story , a fable. A parable . slip inside the house don't pass life by

  • I'll bet that house is haunted.

  • fucking great tune ,i only heard it by chance im a primal scream fan

  • @perfectxshawn1

One of the best I've heard in my 55 years on this earth!

  • R.I.P. bear.

  • if someone were to offer me a couple tabs right now i'd do them and just cancel my plans for the day...that goes for any day.

  • I love this song! The envy of any heavy metal, hard rock or punk band.

  • @tomasmig fuk aye

  • make mine a double

  • LSD is a wonderfull thing, we now know that it is possible to use more than 20% of our brains using certain chemicals. The testing was not a failure, evolution was achived. We have many ways to remember, this song is a great example. Thanks for sharing.

  • @muttseven The idea that humans only use 10%-20% of their brains is a common myth, but completely false. LSD will just let you ramp it up to 110% ;)

  • @muttseven actually it has nothing to do with percentage of brain used. psychedelics are consciousness expanding because they deregulate the serotonin system. frontal lobe activity is stimulated which causes information from the subconscious to flow out, in addition to stopping the CNS from screening out extra sensory perception. so it lets you view the world as it really is..

  • @muttseven totally agree. Recent studies suggest that ancient human hunters who took mushrooms were more successful hunters because of enhanced senses and therefore passed on the desire for altered states of mind.

  • One of the better psychedelic trips I ever took without having taken psychedelics.

  • True conception, knowing why

Brings even more than meets the eye

  • this song was tommy hall's masterpiece ( he was the jug player) and yes it was fueled by LSD ( the real strong stuff-orange sunshine, owsley, purple have microdot)

the band was a tripping band and in the mid 60's not too many people knew about LSD. It then exploded on the scene.. you could not take LSD without having a profound experience- sometimes good and sometimes bad. it oped your mind to just what was in there. very strong stuff. Tommy Hall lives in San Fran and still trips once a week.

  • Psichedelia al potere

  • amazing!

  • ajrich100 listen to captain beefheart's trout mask replica for 5 years and this will music will make sense to you lol.

  • The perfect psych song... the greatest of all time!!

Great to have you back Roky!!

RIP Stacey... you were one of a kind!!

  • it's 2.30 in the morning, I'm partially drunk and I don' really know why I'm writing this but I think that this song fit perfectly for me now

  • can somebody explain what this song is about? The lyrics are kinda weird.

  • @ajrich100 Lyrics are meant to be weird. You gotta do more acid dude. Geez...

  • @TheDrLighthouse chance would be a fine thing, haven't been able to get acid for years.....

  • @TheLexyboy come each late october and november we are fortunate to have lots of magic mushrooms growing all around our village. gotta love the harlequin effect when taken after a bottle of jd.

  • @FeltTipOfYourThingy we actually start to get ours round about late September (Glasgow area). But im one of the minority who prefer good acid! Love the shrooms though. Nothing better than a sunrise with good sounds and the proper state of mind.........

  • @ajrich100 its about yoga, chakras, kundalini - and other expressions of this same knowledge

  • @docwhammo yes youre right....the seven seals...muladhara, swadisthana etc...thers not many songs that can change your life but this is one...:) happy 2mrw my friend

  • 1966,1967,and 1968 were killer years for music!!!

  • @JRG1120

  • @JRG1120 My Thoughts Exactly!! but The 3eyed Men Are Not Complaining,They Can Yodel When They Will And Then Slip Inside This House As................!!!

  • I watched "You're gonna Miss Me" last night, but I first became aware of Roky in 1988 when I bought "The Return of the Living Dead" soundtrack on vinyl...so awesome and the most compelling voice...

    go darkfuct yourself

  • This is proper music Better than a lot of the Horse Shit out nowadays. DarkFukt obviously has no taste in music.Obviously one of those people who has no videos of their own but comments on every body elses.

  • Dated vocals, annoying electric jug and boring melody.

  • @DarkFukt You just don't get it! Of course it's dated! It was recorded nearly 45 years ago. If you want modern vocals and contemporary production, run to your nearest Walmart and buy Justin Beiber's latest CD...While you listen to that, I'll be listening to the 13th Floor Elevators and remain amazed at the wonderful artistry and illuminating lyrics of some of the greatest rock music of the 20th century.

  • @DarkFukt trolls are silly

  • @DarkFukt

You suck!! Let's see your psychedelic masterpiece motherfucker!!

  • @DarkFukt Quick!!! pull out the Lady Gaga!!!! That will pull you back from the edge...

  • @DarkFukt you're on the wrong site and you have a very fitting name. Love

  • Where are the three-eyed men now? Are they still yo-yo-ing where they will?

  • should have seen them in the sixties

  • Your right...

  • this is still the most epic song ever for me.

  • damn this song fucking rules

  • wonderful and very genuine psychedelic band (unlike most). wish there were more like them, (being psychedelic that is, not just copying!) love it, more more more.

  • i know they've got to have backmasked messages, i've tried writting out the lyrics backwords but it didn't work so well, i'm sure if i was able to reverse the audio file i could get something though

  • sound trip

  • 4 and 20=4:20?

  • finisimo..

  • forever

  • Not exactly Eurovision material is it?

  • There should be a house like this in every neighborhood.

  • i'd love to do some acid right now to properly "hear" this song

  • @wdmounger

...I don't know I think you need to listen to White Rabbit again. It's pretty epic. It might not be better than this song, but it's up there.

  • @serengiv Thanks for what you wrote. Sometimes humbling ourselves to hear what we have inside is the hardest thing to do.

  • the most frightening ever song ... because it make us face with what we have inside our body

  • i came into this conversation way after it started but......just saying i think that the 13th floor elevators are way better the the Beatles....just saying

  • This song makes me want marijuana... Badly...

  • my head just exploded

  • oh cool

  • this song makes me feel like i don't need any drugs to be trippin

  • @mickeythebutcher i agree!

  • @mickeythebutcher

    Mickey, I miss that feeling.

  • @mickeythebutcher Same here with me

  • @mickeythebutcher don't need drugs to be tripping but they help :P

  • @mickeythebutcher You don't that's what the music is supposed to do! The only other band that could pull it off well and that lasted was The DEAD!

  • @MrsKevinsmith Roky taught the Dead

  • @pks451 AMEN! Yes they (dead) took the ball and ran with it but they went more county on their coverage of songs and lost the music (save Micky) but had for the wall of sound and their excess of heroine use that really made their shows better because with acid the shows were great but without is it was not as good as I listen to my bootlegs...

  • kind of the Jackson Pollack of rock-n-roll

  • love song

  • i was just watching the documentary youre gonna miss me and holy fuck it is depressing

  • This is one of those rare songs that i enjoy just laying and hearing, without having to occupy my mind in other ways...i love letting it wash over me.

Roky is such a natural talent.

  • always on at my house
