I am able to extract a photo from its background. When I'm ready to move it into another document (or other photo), it doesn't work. I save the extracted photo as a jpg and a psd just to have that too. I can't seem to be able to get the new background behind the extracted photo! Can you explain the procedure past that point? Thank you!

in the layers panal make sure your extracted image is highlighted, then click on the move tool have your background image loaded next to your extracted image then click and drag your extracted image over into to your bg image :-)

The part that I cannot manage to do is get that one image loaded next to my extracted image. When I try to open another image, it just replaces the one that is already on the "stage." I also noticed that the one that is on the "stage" is not opened onto the stage in a separate window; I'm using CS3 and wonder if that makes a difference too. What should I do?

did you save it as a jpg or gif or did you just save and only changed the name, cause if you hit CTRL+S you save as a photoshop file.

and not as an image file, try saving it as a jpeg.

different techniques work for different photos ie first too work ok with studio shots but the extract filter works with them all theirs a couple of other ways out their that i forgot to include
