Ella is Ella! For ever and ever....(The sound will be better if you put &FMT=18 in the end of URL...I learned the trick from another commentor here at you tube....It works!)
can you please shut up about wat shit justin bieber or comparing this generation of music to the past. Music is soothing to the ear. So listen, talk less
Don't underestimate the role of the brilliant Marty Paich. As arranger/composer/conductor, the man was one of the giants. Were it not for the fact that he had had zero interest in self-promotion, he would today be as big a public name as Nelson Riddle, Johnny Williams or Hank Mancini. Paich was THAT good.
I've never heard an account of someone who knew Ella personally that didn't find her to be warm and kind, but always shy, sometimes bordering on awkwardness. She was tremendously talented but had not a trace of a "Diva" streak, and never viewed her talent to be as great as the rest of the world saw it. She also had a playful, somewhat mischievous sense of humor. Among all the greats, she was definitely one of a kind.
What is the point of talking about Justin Beiber all the freaking time? If you don't like him, you just don't! He is not forcing you to listen to him. C'mon give him a break and enjoy a Fitzgerald!
time after time I tell myself that I'm so lucky to be loving you so lucky to be the one you run to see in the evening when the day is through I only know what I know the passing years will show you cab my love so young so you and time after time you'll hear me say that I'm so lucky to be loving you I only know what I know the passing years will show you cab my love so young so you and time after time you'll hear me say that I'm so lucky to be loving you
i've listened to all the versions of this song. By dinah washington, judy garland, tracy chapman etc. I think this is the best version. Ella's voice and the Marty Paich Ochestra it's just fantastic. Love it.
@AlphaSixNineteen - FUCK JB!! And FUCK about the comments what posters say about the dweeb. People that say they like him or hate him on other musicians[that has nothing to do with him], must need their F'n heads read!! It means that you've got nothing else better to say or do, and masturbate in front of your screens!!!
I respectfully disagree with Blazing Saddles. This song, like many, can work in a light swing format as well as a ballad. A great example is Night and Day, which has been sung both ways by Frank Sinatra. Both are great in different ways. Regardless, I love the Chet Baker and Frank Sinatra versions of Time after Time. I also highly, highly recommend the Margaret Whiting version - to me this is the best ballad version of the song. She nails the form and it feels very period appropriate.
This is not the right tempo for this song. Ella has an incredible voice--but the arrangement is too up tempo and does not do justice to time after time. For more appropriate versions of the song--check out Chet Baker or Kathren Grayson--also well done by liza Minella and frank Sinatra. Check out Ella's version of -But not for me---classic Ella.
@nicodagger Chet Baker! There is a version of him doing this song live in Belgium in the early 60's on You tube with russ Freeman on Piano. Highly Recommended!
This is literally the best version of this song that I've heard.
