  • I like the video. Very good song with nice beat

  • I'm with all of you, discovered Plaid after watching Tekkon and I am proud that they are British!

  • When this track gets to 3.14, this is an immense part of the track and IMO its' innovativeness is a 'two fingered' salute to the manufactured R&B, Trance shite that has invaded our charts.

  • I first discovered Plaid via Tekkonkinkreet. Best moment of my life.

  • @frostymintofdeath Yeah me too! I love Plaid after watching TekkonKinkreet. That movie made me cry. White is such an adorable kid. "Be happy, be happy..."

  • kids, don't do drugs, especially heroine

    hahhahaha

  • It's in 7/4,ne c'est pas?

  • Aphex Twin has a mastery of his instrument none of the others there can compare to. That having been said... the very best track ever written? Plaid - Super Positions.

Sheer brilliance. That's all that is.

  • awesome,man!!! xxx

  • Would be nicer to have a better quality video :3 ...Not that it matters compared to the song though :P

  • @TheCakebuilder I agree myself! It's damn hard to find a high quality version of it. I tried contacting the guys behind it, Minivegas, for a dvd but they had none. One day I'll own it in high quality...one day.

  • @Lardossan Even they didn't have a dvd? Huh.. bit odd x]

Well I'll look forward to the day! :P Tis a great video.

  • the best songs ever made:

    1- pen expers - autechre

2- Naked to the stars - team doyobi

    3 - zeal - Plaid

    4 - bebikukorica nigiri - Venetian snares

    where´s the aphex?

  • That was scary!

  • Autechre is better than Aphex Twin

  • @Hegelplan I prefer aphex twin

  • Plaid make incredibly polished tracks and 'Zeal' and 'Host' would have to be two of the very, very best of them. I never get sick of either one.

  • great sooong!!!!!!!!!! yes

  • Plaid are the greatest electronica act in the world today

  • yeah, i agree :)

  • oooh spooky

  • excellent track

  • For most people lady gaga`s music has more powerful emotions ( well, it`s just simple , like most people`s minds )

  • its funny that i!m coming actually here after a lady gaga video heheh :) just dance!

  • omg.... great song¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • yea that was fucked up, lol,

  • Wow. The video reminds me a lot of Dave McKean's work.

  • @brn20 nice to see a McKean fan. seems his works are underappreciated. that said...

    this. so very this.

  • wow, no idea why your comment was downvoted into oblivion. I agree

  • "An imaginative, creepy and wonderful video from the artist".... yeah, i would like to know who the video artist is.... it's not plaid.

  • The video was created by directing collective "minivegas". More info here:

    minivegas-dot-co-dot-uk/blog/2004/06/18/early-press-plaid-zeal/

  • Plaid - upgrade & mobilize

    on my channel

    lots of rarities too! :)

    i love plaid!

  • Whatever the reason for this, but only beautiful mind can create such message

  • not a complicated situation. just either futuristic or underground. or just out there. perhaps the mentality of men and women can produce something (with technology) that can be harvested or at least absorbed by some peoples like the peoples in the video. however they seem pretty strung out or have been in the dungeon its hard to say which is more likely.

  • Really impressive.

  • is this a diss against psychiatric meds, i wonder?

  • new Plaid music: /watch?v=EtOzzSzGqjU

  • this is interseting.. O.o

  • One Interpretation: This video examines the mind and man's quest to understand it. These people are somehow interacting with the womans mind using their brutal and sinister tools.

The green flowing thing represents her essence or soul. They found a new way to destroy someone. A destruction so complete she simply falls into nothing. Zeal can blind us.

  • I saw them live once. It was an amazing performance, especially this song they played

  • u are right, this isnt a song, this is a music.... sry THE music

  • this footage is from a walkthrough of dick cheney's house... i remember it from last season of "homes of the rich and famous"

  • @12er5t7y

I think I saw that one. They didn't go into the basement and he only keeps a shelf full of books because they qualify as a blunt object to beat puppies to death with.

  • @12er5t7y Heh heh.

  • awesome video

  • Well, I tell you that this video is about anything but a warning about drug usage.

  • its about secret deep underground military bases DUMBs and the their occult work

  • coooooooool video o.o

  • i recon its about excessive zeal for things that are bad for you. i.e. drugs

    pretty self explanitory

  • gossebumps bitcheees

  • i think it's a re-telling of War and Peace where the green thing is Russia.

  • I don't think this video is about anything in particular, except maybe awesomeness. As far as I can tell, the moral is "don't try this at home or you will disintegrate your fiancee."

  • Itsu is included at the beginning "DIALP," the long mix they created of edited tracks and unreleased music. It's available from Bleep. No sign of this version of Zeal, though. I've searched long and hard.

  • this is fucking disturbing.

  • I only partially understand the story in this video.

Would anyone like to contribute what they think?

  • i think it is about stem cells. First Impression and just a guess.

How do you call the thing that connects mother and child, which has to be cut after gicving birth?

The green thingy in the vid stands for it, i think.

    well, what do You think?

  • "Umbilical cord" is the word you were looking for.

I thought it had to do more with perception and mind,

Since there is an eye in the beginning.

I still have to watch it again; thanks for contributing.

  • krankes vid...aber saugeil *_*

  • wooow i am not familiar with plaid, this is the first thing i hear, but i like this man!! that beat is intense! definently ganna check out more!

  • Amazing at the second half there when the beat accelerates, and theres harsh static corrupting the "nice" instruments, sharp sounds cut into the music, and you can't tell if the high pitched cries are a person or a machine.

    Superb!

  • one of my faves songs of plaid. dark and verry imaginative ! This video remember me the movie "saw".

    peace

  • Why is it that Plaid's best stuff is NOT available on the market or the most impossible to get?? I was lucky enough to find a way to get Itsu, but no luck getting Zeal on CD, let alone this video.

  • yeah il agree with you on that one, itsu and this one is what im after aswell but no luck ;/

  • try checking out something like a virgin record store. they have a huge electronic selection.

  • I love plaid. I love Tool. And this seems like a perfect blend of one's musical prowess with the other's artistic vision. This is a masterpiece. (and does anyone else think it looks a lot like City of Lost Children?)

  • wha!? just saw that movie again yesterday after years and years.I see what ur talking about, I find this a little darker.

  • the lyrics in this song pwn

  • very dark vid,i like it!

  • Fantastic record. Layers of sound transforms you into a weird and wonderful world! Keep them coming

  • inspired by Dr Frankenstein's experiment?

  • This version of Zeal is so much better than what they put on the album.

    :\

  • plaid rox

  • best song ever!

  • I'm so pleased to see an effective depiction of why if there were a soul I would not want it detectable by science. Not that science is evil, but that governments, religions, and companies, are.

  • Beyond a shadow of a doubt, Plaid are not a cradle of banality, never mind filth. Some should stick to old music. Or leave their weak jokes.

  • You gotta send me that one :D

  • fucking WOW!!!!amazing

  • Horrible but very good video and song.

Hey I like more plaid than aphex...I think they're at the same level...And plaid is musically more complete...Well, they too are fantastic

  • I don't think I understand this video :/ I guess I'll have to watch it again soon (not that there's anything bad about it).

  • Plaid is fantastic...

  • aphex twin is out of space...

  • does this remind anyone else of closer?

    random thought, YAY PLAID!

  • Wrong. Aphex Twin is amazing, probably one of my favorite artists of all time, but not better. Also, Richard's style of music differs a wee bit from the Plaid duo's recognizable choruses and midi sounds. Really, anyone who listens to Aphex Twin will probably like plaid, especially stuff from the Rest Proof Clockwork and Trainer albums. All aside, Richard D. James album, Come to daddy album, and Classics albums are my favorite. Window licker was my favorite single.

  • I love your in depth criticism.

    FOOL!

  • The problem with Aphex Twin is that he has hundreds of moronic fat-headed fans like yourself who worship him like a cult leader and lick up every piece of shit that comes out of his arse.

  • aphex, autechre & plaid! theyre all fuckin great! I like plaid the best.

  • guy below: your fired!

  • Best electronic duo i would say are Boards of Canada.

  • You can only say that for SOME of their music

  • Tales of The Ratman by The Warped Video Creators...

  • i have not for threes, rest proof clockwork, double figure, parts in the post and trainer... i used to have spokes but i went off it a bit, oh and p-brane

  • I bet Plaid AND Rich are both laughing their asses off watching ppl argue about the topic "who is the best IDM-artist".

  • i bet they just swap photographs of eachothers shits and rate them from smell to stink

  • do u mean afx

wot did that guy do to himself to look like that.

    like you might know.

  • Very nice, added to favorites. Thanks!

  • This track builds beautifully. I prefere homemade lasagna though

  • Reminds me to Orbital and Lowpass (a Belgian trance/ambient/triphop group with 5* album 'Fear of the Flood'; Insekt; Akyra) '|;~{)]

The videoclip really strikes like it was conceived by the french director duo Caro & Jeunet who made 'Delicatesses' and 'La cité des enfants perdue' (City of lost children) <- ABSOLUTE MUST :D

  • In my opinion, I don't see the need to compare both artists and say who's better. Both are fantasically talented individuals who will of course listen to each others music and no doubt love it too. Either way, we benefit :)

  • Thats amazing I have just been arguing that point with someone else on Youtube. They said they thought the flamenco guitarist Paco de lucia was a better guitarist than Jimmy Hendrix. Fucking Pointless

  • I believe plaid is a group of two people (Andy Turner and Ed Handley).

  • // Aphex Twin (Richard D. James) is rumored to have sold his soul to make better music, I don't know if I believe that //

Why are Aphex Twin fans so quick to lap up every stupid story invented about him? What a load of bullshit, if you believe that then why not believe in Santa? Aphex fans are like members of a cult, I swear.

  • i just listen to their music i have no idea what ur talking about

  • @Ustabin i love these aphex twin rumors =)

  • Spokes is one hell of an album, if you like Spokes i would also recommend Double Figure. Plaid is just one of those great duos that really have no boundaries with what they create, with the exception of maybe Aphex Twin i feel Plaid touches on more sounds and styles then almost any other electronic musician(s) out there. Definately higher echelon of music, deserving of the term "musical genius'"

  • I completely agree with BaxterD except on one point, autechre are also an amazing duo with an unbelievably complex and hard-edged sound while still remaining beautiful and simple. I also recommend Plaid's "All for Threes" Album

  • magnifique!

  • this video is not representative of Plaid's varied musical offerings; such offerings would not invoke this type of morbid imagery.

  • 'NA FIGATA PAZZESCA!!!!

ehm...sorry....very very very very very good

  • who made the video?

  • Video is directed by UK collective Minivegas. '|;~{)]

  • Without doubt the best thing Plaid have done. Stark, emotionless, beautiful.

  • "Creepy, Imaginative and Wonderful"- I agree. Its still kinda silly, though, but I enjoyed it.

  • brilliant!

  • Awesome track fellas!

  • terrific, creepy, cool, what to say, when I heard it for the first time, I couldn´t stop thinking about the video, very well done

  • ... just another brilliant music masterpiece by Plaid ( so amazing video ) ...

  • Very spooky-lloks like something Skinny Puppy would make or something Chris Cunningham would direct. I love this track and album though. Too bad this wasn't on Greedy baby.

  • One of my favourite songs from Spokes, but the video's a bit too arty-farty, compared to how good most of Plaid's films tend to be. Let's have Greedy Baby!
