When this track gets to 3.14, this is an immense part of the track and IMO its' innovativeness is a 'two fingered' salute to the manufactured R&B, Trance shite that has invaded our charts.
@frostymintofdeath Yeah me too! I love Plaid after watching TekkonKinkreet. That movie made me cry. White is such an adorable kid. "Be happy, be happy..."
Aphex Twin has a mastery of his instrument none of the others there can compare to. That having been said... the very best track ever written? Plaid - Super Positions.
@TheCakebuilder I agree myself! It's damn hard to find a high quality version of it. I tried contacting the guys behind it, Minivegas, for a dvd but they had none. One day I'll own it in high quality...one day.
not a complicated situation. just either futuristic or underground. or just out there. perhaps the mentality of men and women can produce something (with technology) that can be harvested or at least absorbed by some peoples like the peoples in the video. however they seem pretty strung out or have been in the dungeon its hard to say which is more likely.
One Interpretation: This video examines the mind and man's quest to understand it. These people are somehow interacting with the womans mind using their brutal and sinister tools.
The green flowing thing represents her essence or soul. They found a new way to destroy someone. A destruction so complete she simply falls into nothing. Zeal can blind us.
I think I saw that one. They didn't go into the basement and he only keeps a shelf full of books because they qualify as a blunt object to beat puppies to death with.
I don't think this video is about anything in particular, except maybe awesomeness. As far as I can tell, the moral is "don't try this at home or you will disintegrate your fiancee."
Itsu is included at the beginning "DIALP," the long mix they created of edited tracks and unreleased music. It's available from Bleep. No sign of this version of Zeal, though. I've searched long and hard.
Amazing at the second half there when the beat accelerates, and theres harsh static corrupting the "nice" instruments, sharp sounds cut into the music, and you can't tell if the high pitched cries are a person or a machine.
Why is it that Plaid's best stuff is NOT available on the market or the most impossible to get?? I was lucky enough to find a way to get Itsu, but no luck getting Zeal on CD, let alone this video.
I love plaid. I love Tool. And this seems like a perfect blend of one's musical prowess with the other's artistic vision. This is a masterpiece. (and does anyone else think it looks a lot like City of Lost Children?)
I'm so pleased to see an effective depiction of why if there were a soul I would not want it detectable by science. Not that science is evil, but that governments, religions, and companies, are.

I was just checking out new music to listen to and to be honest I didn't like this. I prefer music with prominent beats which are not repetative either.
Wrong. Aphex Twin is amazing, probably one of my favorite artists of all time, but not better. Also, Richard's style of music differs a wee bit from the Plaid duo's recognizable choruses and midi sounds. Really, anyone who listens to Aphex Twin will probably like plaid, especially stuff from the Rest Proof Clockwork and Trainer albums. All aside, Richard D. James album, Come to daddy album, and Classics albums are my favorite. Window licker was my favorite single.
The problem with Aphex Twin is that he has hundreds of moronic fat-headed fans like yourself who worship him like a cult leader and lick up every piece of shit that comes out of his arse.
i have not for threes, rest proof clockwork, double figure, parts in the post and trainer... i used to have spokes but i went off it a bit, oh and p-brane

Very spooky-lloks like something Skinny Puppy would make or something Chris Cunningham would direct. I love this track and album though. Too bad this wasn't on Greedy baby.
One of my favourite songs from Spokes, but the video's a bit too arty-farty, compared to how good most of Plaid's films tend to be. Let's have Greedy Baby!
I like the video. Very good song with nice beat
