Amina's song and performance were incredible. One of the finest ever ESC entrants. Carola was decidedly average and that's that. France definitely should have won that year. So original.
Asia does and it is called the Asiavision song contest it'll start this year and yes us Australians have fun watching the contest so much that we've even sent commentators this year instead of using the BBC commentary so instead of Graham Norton we'll be listening to Sam Pang and Julia Zemiro
Who can blame them, it's rather funny stuff. Have good memories of wasting hours with my Euro friends watching this yearly contest. Its so cheesy it's actually cool.
Its sad that these kinds of things are so unlikely to happen. Now its always a few countties that lead right from the start and you know who will win before your half way throught he voting.
As for the idiotic comments below. Any music style is valid and the Eurovision is not for European countries its for countries that are members of the EBU.
I didnt like carolas song, but it was far more lively than the french song. Also, the french song didn't sound european. This is supposed to be the Eurovision Song Contest afterall. Lets keep it european, and if the arabs or africans want their own contest, that's fine by me! ( and that wasnt meant in a racist way!!! )
The comment wasn't intended to be racist. But as a European, I don't enjoy listening to music from North Africa, Turkey, or any other country which, for some odd reason, seems to think it is part of Europe. Anyway, I'd rather France enter a tune which is typically french, to represent the 'real' french culture.
my last eurovision on live tv was in 1994, then i moved to the us. when i got to be able to see the recent esc footages (thanks, you tube) and read about what's been happening on esc lately, i got disappointed. all these awful dance numbers with tacky choreographies by the girls with cheap makeups and even cheaper outfits. the political votes got out of control. the years of celin dion, amina, and all those great numbers from uk and ireland and those fun scandinavian pop tunes are gone now.
I would include 1993 in that (I'd like to see the BBC commentary for that - I hear Terry Wogan was as edged as everybody else was). I totally agree about the others, though. I love close-call voting finishes, preferrably with a lot of shouting. :D
FINALLY, somebody put up arguably the single most exciting voting finish ever. Notice how the cameramen focus on Duo Datz and Carola. Clearly, RAI was not expecting Amina to catch up. Even Terry Wogan was stupefied!
With the new Eurovision Rules France would have won the contest, because France received 146 points from 18 countries. But Sweden 'only' received 146 points from 17 countries!
France was robbed!

DrMarcelo72 you are a fucking hippie.
It's an official fact that nobody likes music written nor sung by black people.
(Except for slave song ofc, but thats because of a different reason... )

I clearly is a racist comment since Arabs and Africans are as much part of Europe as any other human being.
The French song was beautiful.

And with the new Eurovision format, in which 38 up to 42 countries may vote, these close finish voting finishes are definately history :(!

1973, 1979, 1981, 1984, 1989, 1993, 1999, 2001 and 2002 were excitng voting procedures as well.
But I do agree that 1968, 1969, 1988, 1991, 1998 and 2003 were perhaps the most exciting votings in the history of Eurovision
