Why the motocross tires? They are terrible for road riding and they don't suit the bike at all.

boohoo, let me guess...i should have restored it to showroom condition, kept it locked away, and rubbed it with a diaper on sunday mornings? or maybe i should have built a period correct cafe racer to take to the coffee shop 2 blocks away?

-the fact is, this was a 41 year old bike, that came to me in pieces, and got ridden daily, rain, shine or snow after I built it. How many miles do you ride in a year "SuperHotBiker"?

have any details on the build process? like what all went into it?

nothing too intricate...found a set of 16 over oem cables on ebay, got some road6customs 16" apes, made some hardtail struts (pulled the springs off the shocks, welded em solid) made a homebrew rear fender out of steel pegboard, threw on the widest dot approved knobbies i could find, welded some spring mounts to the frame, threw on a spring solo seat, cl350 tank, took off anything electrical it didnt need, used a harley turn signal as my brake/running light.

i think i got them from dennis kirk from what I remeber, but yeah, i just searched "DOT KNOBBY" and looked for a matching set. As for handling, on asphalt, straight line, they vibrated like hell, and turns were hairy at best. BUT in the snow, and on dirt, I had better traction than i could have dreamed of.

2 reasons really; first i built it in the dead of winter, and it was my daily driver, in snow, and on a few dirt roads. second, because no one else does it.

Why did you have knobby tires on that bobber? Either way it was a good looking bike.
