  • wow. ignore my last comment on the other video.. i can see your hands perfectly here (it seems you read my mind YEARS AND YEARS ago already^^;;;;;) I can never get enough of this song. ^_^ augh. someday. maybe someday I'll be able to play something like this (if not this *_* /dreaming) aaaaw your playing just makes me so dreamy ^__________^

  • Stratospheric! I'm subscribing! :)

  • How long have you been playing?

  • the passage between 2:10 - 2:30, do u alternate between your index finger and thumb on the lower note of the right hand? i've been playing it with just my thumb... but your way seems easier, but harder to master.

  • I got the book in the mail 2 weeks ago, tried to play Traverse Town, failed epicly. Haha The pieces are a little harder than I had originally thought, but Ill definitely be able to play them... Eventually lol

  • Beautiful. Gorgeous. I almost cried :')

  • Achievement Unlocked

    "BOSS MODE"

  • I have nothing to say but OH MY GOD IT'S FXXKING AMAZING!!!!

  • @kylelandry you need to learn his technique. you the fastest fingers but verdegrand has the best technique. when you play stretch your fingers too much

  • i think i just jizzed myself

  • you should put ads on your videos. you deserve to be paid for this.

  • RIP my pants

  • YOU ROCK (sorry for the guitar hero reference)

  • help with 2:10 to 2:30 please?

  • woooooooow you are amazing i learned by ear it took me a while (2 months) who am i kidding hell it took me too long anyways i learned itttttttttt thank chu for posting itttt

  • holly shit!! thats how y hands look like lol (not boasting, I play the same piece, just as fast, been playing since I was three, im 18) dont try toi find it its not anywhere on my youtube :P

  • Is it just me, or does this recording sound better than his version on the grand?

  • I Think that this version is better than the one at the grand. both were great, but your timing was more off on the grand piano. Trust me, I listen to that song every single day, its my favorite, and I have a good ear for timing. You are very excellent, but one thing I might suggest is in certain parts work on the speed a little bit. the timing errors were all just a little too quick. but yet again, you did excellent.

  • O_o....speechless

  • That was absoltely stunning. You're an amazing player--sometimes I even had to remind myself that I wasn't listening to the original recording. Good job! I envy your amazing skills--compared to you, I may play piano, but damn, I'm nowhere NEAR this good.

  • please teach me master and i will learn :D amazing ahhhhhh im so jealous XD

  • omg *SCREAMS HEAD EXPLODES LAST BREATH* ....."amazing"

  • The final was fucking awesome!

  • i'm honestly not a fan of this paraphrase. not the way you play it - you play it beautifully, but the arrangement itself is both tacky and all over the place.

  • I will learn this and perform this during my fall semester for piano for sure.. its just remarkable how well and crisp u play those ascending and descending scales with both hands.. and the feel... I'm sure you play it exactly as the composer intended maybe better

  • so inspiring

  • FUCKING AMAZING

  • JIZZ IN MA PANTZ

  • how can someone dislike this video!?

  • Holy #$%@ That was intense :)

  • so GOD when did you get a piano ?

  • very well played. the slowness of it, the emotions put behind the key pressed...wow, you're good.

  • Outstanding!

  • Your playing deserve more visitors !

    Awesome !

  • this is fun !! so much music jumping out of the page and you managed to convey a majestic almost relaxed feel (great phrasing btw) even with all those Rachmaninoffesque elements. really thanks for this i just got my scores and really enjoyed following along w you. definitely considering this piece or perhaps the sonata kingdom hearts themes (i'm very partial to the sonata form and organization and development of the musical ideas). thanks again man. BRAVO!

  • i saw magic, i hear magic... wooow

  • HEY GUYS!!!!!! THIS VERSION IS DIFFERENT!!??!?!? ITS SOO GOOD THOUGH!! ANYONE HAVE THE MUSIC SHEETS FOR THIS VERSION ITS STUNNING!!

  • @Phongu hi, this version is from the official piano collections kingdom hearts sheet music book, i bought it sometime in 2009 from a japanese online store, you should still be able to find it as it's been out for a while and it's well distributed.

  • Didnt you have a couple videos up at one point giving tips on practicing this song? Why did you remove them?

  • @malice23 hi, yeah i had some videos up about that about a year ago but i removed them because i didn't feel comfortable with them anymore. i'll reup them sometime on my second channel but that could still take a while. sorry about that.

  • amazing!

  • What are you fingerings for the left hand part in the begining? where u go from C-Eb a quite a few times? Please tell! Thanks!

  • @ray10116 hi, i use 1-1 on both the c and the Eb. it's counterintuitive and i think most people would feel more comfortable using 1-2 or even 1-3, but i could never get warm with that and it would flow a bit better for me when i just got a new "grip" from the highest note down.

  • Ninja hands.

  • just cool

  • are you god?

  • ; . ; just sooo good...when you gonna died..Kingdom Hearts will bring ya to her..

  • 1.44 kills me

  • your amazng at the piano. your a true prodigy. where ca i get the kingdom hearts music sheet book? and how long have you played for ?

  • I practiced 2 hours for 2 weeks. My fingers were stiff after a long period of not playing. Stopping after 12 years because of college sucks! I didn't get through the entire song, but what a blast this piece is to play. I love it a lot - especially the 6-3 right/left phase. Once I get back to my piano in the summer, I'm definitely picking this up again.

    Amazing work with your playing!

  • *reads the description at the beginning of the video* :O there's a BETTER version of THIS?! this is so good! it's perfect! :D

  • Thanks horekar! Your words are very reassuring, and just so you know, I have started lessons and gotten a piano teacher.

  • i like how you gave the song more dynamics

  • man please i would be really happy if you say me what fingers you used on 3:10 - 3:12 btw great playing i'm self taught and i am trying to learn it too:)from a midi^^ and i watch your video to "get" any tip you know... xD

  • tutorial? please?

  • do you have an mp3 version of this?

i would LOVE to listen to this all day!

  • just perfect...

  • I thought I saw 2 rampaging spiders fighting on the keyboard.....

  • @lipwen94 Apparently those 2 spiders were so upset they went and Disliked this video. :)

  • Man.... This is super EPIC!

  • This was VERY good :) I'm truly impressed, but I still think GermanSeabass's version was better. Even if he made mistakes, I felt like he put a lot for feeling into it. This is very good, but GermanSeabass is my cup of tea :)

  • Hey Verdegrand, I was wondering....how old were you when you first started piano? I feel I'm too old to start piano since I didn't started young (16 by the way). I just want an age comparison with someone as good as you.

  • @shrey1720 Someone gave me some motivating words a while ago, and now i'll pass them on to you. "It's never too late! never!":] 16 is young, i started playing the piano when i was 16 and i felt like you. But i just went for it, im now 18 and i've bought a violin also that i'll get familiar with after my exams:) All you need is to want it, and to be disciplined!:) You have to make priorities, and you have to set your mind to practisepractisepractise:) Mental strength is very important!:)

  • @shrey1720 But you have to practise correctly of course. And if you're not attending a musical school i recommend a piano teacher. Learn to read sheet music if you cant read sheets(dont use online tutorial videos)You can make it without a piano teacher if you already can read sheet music, but i still highly recommend a piano teacher. Practising very slowly like Verdegrand said is important, i didn't do any of this when i started. And that messed up alot of my playing, so learn from my mistakes!

  • Who the FUCK was retarded enough to dislike this masterpiece? I demand to know. I will find you and decapitate you with my machete ';,,,,;'

  • verdegrand - i would love to hear your interpretation of one of kyle landry's versions!

  • Best version imo. I'll be learning this next.

  • dud this completely blew everyone away away.great job.i hope i could play this some day!!!!

  • It was so pretty from 2:19 with with the right hand when you went down

  • Amazing.

  • You... my friend... are AMAZING!!! This is so well played it is not even funny!! =P

  • Please I need some help Verdegrand!

What does "Arpeggiate chords over 4 octaves" mean? I don't know how to play that part :(

  • @666Jackdevil666 Hello, that sentence means you are supposed to play arpeggios over the range of 4 octaves. But looks like you have the transcription from Sebastian Wolff aka GermanSeabass. The version I play is the one from the official CD and learned from the corresponding sheet book. You can get the Piano Collections Kingdom Hearts sheet book, it will have that passage fully written out.

  • @Verdegrand

Thank you so much! I am going to get the official sheets instead!

  • @666Jackdevil666 where can i get the sheet book? and verdegrand your FUCKING AMAZING AT PLAYING THE PIANO! how long ahve you played for

  • @shodgate

I don't have the sheet book, guess you will have to buy it. If you want the freesheet, then just type it in google and you will find the GermanSeabass transcription.

  • OMG ... the best version I've ever heard!!!

  • Omg ): how do you play like that. I wanna practice but I don't know how to start

  • @DPStickMaster Hi, well it might be a good idea to start on the last page and work towards the beginning so the latter parts will be more familiar to you once you are finished. Then, practicing VERY slowly will always get you good results, from my own experience. There is also a good and free ebook about piano technique called "fundamentals of piano practice", google that, it's very complex and in-depth but worth it. I didn't read everything myself, but the passages that I read were very helpful.

  • o.e left hand scary

  • how long you play?

  • l dare say Kyle Landry has a rival :)

  • @ultrapluppen Kyle and Verdegrand are two different styled pianists.... Kyle improvises and modifies while Verdegrand only plays according to the score....

  • @wwyk1993 l do understand that, l just think this is bewitchingly beautiful, and that you must have either a lot of talent or skills to manage this piece, because it is so beautiful :)

  • @ultrapluppen Lol

  • do you play live shows? :)

  • heeey... maybe I can play this mmm... Can u play this if you can play, say... umm. Mozart's piano sonata in C major, and... bach's first invention? Among others? I mean, I know this japanese guy likes to copy Rachmaninov, but, I mean, is playing this as hard as playing, say... umm His 2nd piano concerto?

  • please music sheet! i really want to play this song! also you do an amazing job!!!!!!!

  • i cant beleive the guy who fully played that..

  • @TeamPhin Hi, I know what you mean, at the beginning I couldn't play too much of this, either. It took me about two or three months of several hours per day, also I practiced some other etudes in order to train some fingers which would be especially needed here. So yeah, if this kind of technique is new to you, this takes a lot of work, but it's worth it.

  • @Verdegrand definitely worth playing man, thanks for being an inspiration. I've listened to this like 40 times. God Bless your music.

  • WOW!!! Simply Amazing!

  • I knew this was a hard ass thng to play, but holy shit :O

  • Friggan amazing!! Ive been sort of working on this song off and on. Im just having trouble getting the arpeggios up to speed without hitting the wrong notes. Incredible job on this song, it certainly takes work!

  • I can play just about the first two lines of this piece and then I give up trying on the rest...

    Bottom line,

    YOU ARE AMAZING. :)

  • my bad i clicked dislike... i meant like x 2893574902384759837451345 :D ur amazing

  • The beginning reminds me of the Rach 2 concerto

  • >.< I think you're honestly better than germanseabass :)

    So beautiful ;3;

  • maji kakkoii i wish i could play like you dude!

  • ungodly skill! nice job dude

  • what piano are you using?

  • You gotta be a master of scales to pull piece this off.

  • just wondering... where is your tips video for this piece? I can't seem to find it. Did you delete it?

  • やばし。

  • incroyable

  • Dude, you are amazing! I watched your video on how to practice this song and good god did it help. It would be awesome if you could watch my video and comment. Thanks, and keep up the great work!

  • i like the way you just glide your hands over the notes, you played it really beautifully...

  • do you ever share the arpeggios with your right hand to accommodate for the jumps in the left hand? I'm looking at 3:05, the last 2 arpeggios before the half note chords (fourth measure of the fifth page of the sheets)

  • @Me2Myself3AndI Hello, that's what I do at exactly the passage you mentioned. It's even notated in the sheets to be played that way and it makes the jump in the left hand much more manageable. Sadly, you can't use that trick as easily at the jump after the thirds run (Bar 6 to 7 in Part 'I'). That jump in the original recording on the CD is out of this world.

  • @Verdegrand I know what you mean. To make that jump, your hand would have to move with enough force and speed to knock out a grown man with a blow to the head.

  • im interested in the fingering you used for 2:10-2:30

It looks like 1 3 2 5 1, for the triplets but can you confirm?

BTW my favorite part was 0:00-3:51

  • @Me2Myself3AndI Hello, the fingering for the triplets that I used it 3-2-1-5-1, that was you can feel the single note repetitions as some kind of run or line and then advance to the octave without a break.

  • what fingering did you use for 0:31 to 1:15?

  • @XaldBalghostriped Hello, in the first part for the left hand, I use the thumb on the e-flat, which is counter-intuitive, but allowed me to feel a new 'grip' and the go down smoothly, whereas many other people would use 2 or 3. Then, in the 'ocean study' segment, I mostly use 5-2-1 in the left hand and 1-3-5 in the right hand.

  • @Verdegrand ah ok thnx! I think I'll use 2.

  • @XaldBalghostriped thats what she said.

  • Do you read the sheet music, and then get it memorized? I noticed you never read from music whilst playing. :) Do you also learn anything by ear?

  • @ph34rONE3443 Hello, for me, reading sheets are actually a hinderance while playing, so I try to memorize it whenever it is possible. Also, learning a piece by ear by listening to a recording of it often is often the first thing I do before I actually sit down at the piano.

  • only a few keys but so many speedy arpeggios +_+

  • That was SICK

Looks exceptionally difficult to get the right dynamic effects that you did

    Wow

  • Bravo Maestro!)

  • Hey im a fellow pianist that is learning to play and im slowy getting better by the day but i was wondering i only got a keyboard with 61 keys on it and its a small one but its ok for leaning...

  • @xOptiics That's gonna give you trouble later on when you get good, get an 88 keyboard with weighted keys for optimal and fastest learning. :)

  • Dude. That was just, EPIC. The concert paraphrase is my ultimate favourite off the KH piano collections so seeing it being played live was just just...oh my goodness! U played it with such intensity and perfection it was breath taking. Amazing job. Off to watch ur grand piano version of it now :D

  • It'd be amazing if you did a video of The Other Promise Piano Collections with the additional videos of tips on how to play just like you did with this piece. I'm trying to learn The Other Promise...so difficult for me.

  • this is amazing. I like this version better than your 'better' version since this shows your hands. i can watch them all day. thanks for the concert!

  • ur crazy... so it took 3 months to get ur hands that fast? how good were u before?

  • Um...I found there are similarities in between this piece and the 2nd piano concerto of Rachmaninoff, especially the grave opening, eg. chord by chord, and the structure as well. Fast, slow, Fast <---but this is quite usual in classical pieces. Anyway, I could not stop watching ur video~!

  • I just got the score lol ! thanks dude~

    gonna practise it every day.

  • @christambb01 can I have the piano sheet too?? I really love this songs!

  • @agedashi89 please e-mail to me

  • @agedashi89 thanks!! :DDDD

  • @agedashi89 thanksss!!!

  • Hey! How can you plaaay that?! It´s difficult! I must try to learn this too.:D haha

Calm and full of emotions, just beautiful playing! The best performance on YT! Congrats on that!

  • hey dude! could you please just upload the score ? I love your version thank you so much!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Wow! @.@

awesome technical skill along with the right interpretation of the song.

just curious, what's the polyphony on your piano?

  • wheres the piano sheet for this? i dont recall they ever made an offcial music or piano sheets for this.

  • you are the best pianist for me forever!

  • hands-down , das war über gut. man muss gar nichts mehr dazu sagen , wurde schon alles gesagt und man ist eh sprachlos

wie lange wurde für das lied geübt ?

  • This is amazing- up to your playing of this poece, how many hours do you think you practiced? Like, as an estimate? Thanks!

  • @Redblackk42 Hello, this took me about three months of practicing several hours a day, including playing similar pieces/etudes that have the same technical difficulties for the sake of learning how to play them.

  • that was amazing thanks for putting this up for us!!!

  • very good ! but the last part...

you've got some mistake ? Not very clear about the speeding double notes.

  • @hofai225 lol i play this one for some time now and i think the double ones in the last part down are not managable much more peprfectly than he does here...especially not in this tempo - just try it yourself ;)

  • regardless a mistake is a mistake, his giving contructive crtic, you should do the same.

  • I aspire to play this well some day. Blowing peoples' minds and whatnot

  • GODLY!

  • Anybody can send me the mp3 for this?

  • wow

  • how?

  • Intense.... You're really good at piano. It's just too bad your keyboard couldn't get some of those bass notes. You should get a hold of a grand piano and re-record this!

  • @kaecyxiii read the subtitle at the top right corner on the video as soon as it begins haha

  • @Zorsy He couldn't have seen it yet - I only added the annotation after reading his comment :)

  • you're so wonderful! i love it :)

  • wunderbar!!!

  • wow! excellent job.

  • WOW! 3:10 - 3:12

  • DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • simplemente genial. Me he enamorado de esta obra. no me canso de escucharla

  • This song is incredibly hard to play. Props my man :D

  • I love the piano!!!!

  • I had to remind myself that I wasn't listening to the soundtrack. xD

THIS IS AWESOME IN EPIC PROPORTIONS.

  • ...WOW... simply...WOW...

  • epic win

  • Amazing!! Really awesome!! :D

  • Aw .. Smooth hand

  • I've been waiting for someone other than germanseabass to put up a video of them playing this. i've been working on this for a while now. not nearly finished, but you made it obvious it's possible to play haha

  • Totally Awesome! your hands move like lightning!

  • awesome....nothing more to say *****

  • Beautifully played!!! *****
