  • looked that way but frenchie really stepped it up

  • WOW u were wrong. Francoeur has alot more potential. Are coaching staff took a different approach with Jeff than Atlanta did, and it has paid off. Church had no power was nothing special at all and Francouer is a WAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY better addition for either team. And Church was a free agent and probably would've left new york anyway. He left Atlanta.

  • The man was wrong, nobody was perfect.

  • Francoeur is way more talented.

  • i don't know if anybody said it or not but that dude is a gamer...that dude yes strikes out a shit load so everybody on the lineup does that wwright ,bay but we need tough s.o.b on the team....church like he's name was holy love the guy i reall really do but he's a nice guy that can't touch a base lol

  • Francoeur ended 09 season with average of .280, 15 HRs, 76 RBIs

Church ended 09 season with average of .273, only 4 HRs, and only 40 RBIs

Francoeur has significantly improved while Church has well, stayed average.

slj lets be mature about it man

Francoeur has a lot of more potential after this season and will be coming back from surgery due to a hand injury so we will have to see how the next season goes...

Francoeur is overall a better pick than church, especially after 09 stats

  • true....time will tell. I do like Church, but I like this trade. Franceuor hit over 100 RBIs in two seasons, Church has not and probably will never do that. Church is a 15/75/.290 guy at best. I remember watching Franceour get all kinds of big hits in 2006 and 2007 and wishing the mets had him..maybe a 100 RBI year once is a fluke, but he did it twice. In short, Franceuor has a bigger upside, even though he has struggled for a while before joining the mets.

  • you're right

  • Franceour with Mets- .327 3 HR 16 RBI

    Church- .200 1 HR 3 RBI

    EAT IT!

  • i did not like the trade with church for franceour...ill take church anyday over frenchy...

  • pedro got signed by the phillies u shuld make a video on that

  • Not in my opinion when you consider that Franceour has played MORE games than Church. On a worse team meaning that his offense with Atlanta was more vital where as Church had no pressure .

  • he hits way more then church..ever since church got hurt in the middle half of 08 hes never been the same he can hit as he did in the past i think it was a good trade for both teams but it makes the mets a better team cuz the braves can live with church the mets cant we need a RF who can hit and frenchy can atleast hit

  • Now for more stats Church's numbers are First followed by Franceour's I'll only use the stats since Church has been a MET

    RBI: 71 / 107

    Hits: 153 / 221

    Triples: 1 / 5

    Doubles: 30 / 45

    Runs: 80 / 102

    Walks :50 / 51

  • Forgot HR : Church's stats first

    14 / 16

IMO: This could be one of Minaya's better trades

  • Could you describe what Striking out a "ton" means ?

Here are the Strikeout Numbers since Church has been a Met :119 Francoeur 158 Difference 41

  • I agree with the video poster, as a Braves fan I'm like really what the heck?

  • review:

Frenchy = is inconsistent and gets in lot of struggles. Benefit: great arm.

Church= hasnt played full time RF. Benefit= consistent and doesnt strike out much.

    Advantage - Braves

  • As a Braves fan I like this deal. But I also think that the Mets may benefit as well. I've always liked Ryan Church. And this deal is one where if you're not winning you have to do SOMETHING and both teams did what they had to do. Frenchy has a great arm in right field. Not many people run on a flyball that's not at the track to Frenchy. We also lose his luck underwear that were 7-0 last I heard. lol. But sucks for the Mets in that he swings at EVERY first pitch and strikes out a TON! Good luck.

  • he'll be around longer

  • to be honest i dont know how it makes sense of either side. it almost seems like they made the trade just to make one so they shake things up just a little but who knows.

  • yeah but i think we should just wait it out, untill august.. we will forsure (hopefully) have everyone back plus billy wagner and if we stay 5 or 6 games back we'll have a chance come playoff time

  • francueor has not been good since he got off the juice

  • koop, why so negative? i actually liked the trade, francouer has a great arm and he's younger. And we all know manuel hated church

  • You are incorrect about the strikeouts as Franceour has 104 more than Church

I might also add that Franceour's had TWO 100 RBI seasons and that his WORST number (in this category 71 (2008) is BETTER THAN Church's BEST 70 (2007)

  • Go to the cbs sports Braves message boards most of the fans there Hate the trade

  • well in hell would we (braves) trade with the mets,.....a team in the NL east??!!!??

i can just see it now, church gets hurt and francouer gets his swing back. i mean the NL east may not be the strongest division but there are 4 teams that are still pretty close. but oh well we'll see i quess.

  • Dude i agree on the numbers facts. However what you do have is a great great defender. There wont be alot of runners going to 3rd.I guess you havent watched Francour play.I like Church.Next week Atl Mets at Braves. We are gonna kick your ASS.

  • i think it was a good trade, francoeur has a rocket of an arm and is younger than church.. it was a very random trade but i believe time will tell

  • Time will tell.

  • Francoeur is an absolute stud in the field and his bat should be catching up. I think he needed a change of scenery and going to New York should be good for his development.

  • i liked church he was a tough player n he knew how to play the game right..a big loss but hopefully frenchie can play well

  • i liked church!

great hitter and good arm in the field

  • This trade blows... I also like Ryan as a player and the Mets never gave him a chance at all. You knew that Jerry did not like him as well as Omar... I cannot think of why he would pull off a deal like this
