@Abby6786 we just got a soy/rice/almond milk maker and the directions for RICE said no soaking was necessary. so just thought I would correct my last comment : )
Thank you metaspherz! I did find the expensive bags on the web and decided to check the canning goods at the local Ace Hardware and found jelly canning bags 2 for $4.95 but they weren't quite the right size. Then, much to my surprise, I was in the natural food store nearby and found mesh bags for holding veggies 3 for $3.95! They have drawstrings, rounded bottoms, nice size and seem to work beautifully.
Thank you! I am really enjoying making and drinking rice milk. I am interested in the strainer clothes that you are using. That is not the usual cheesecloth. What is that and where can I purchase it?
@jmrjudee Hi! I don't see a reply to your question so maybe I can help. He's using a typical nut milk bag. They can be very pricey. I went to Home Depot and bought a package that contained two paint strainers made out of nylon micro-mesh for $3.97. That's what I use. Nut milk bags are generally a lot smaller than paint strainer bags.. Nut milk bags usually have draw strings while paint strainer bags have elastic bands. They both have rounded bottoms. Both can be used to sprout seeds too.
that's a GREAT and HUMANE thing to do as cows suffer so much giving milk to us, specially their babies that are left without enough milk and the cow threatment are horrible in any aspects: to do cheese, milk or meat
"Cow's milk is for baby cows." Very true, I wish more people would understand this. Animal milk isn't good for adults. It's pretty disgusting when you think about it. I mean, you wouldn't drink the milk of another human as an adult would you?
has that rice been cooked or has it just been soaked in water? also, can you use the rice "pulp" for anything? btw i heard raw cows milk has many benefits if you can get your hands on some. pasteurizing it kills all the beneficial bacteria/enzymes, but the fda feels that it should be illegal to drink such bacteria. Fools! XD but i digress.
no i have not but i experimented and used soaked rice. it was a bit chalky but tasted alright. i used the left over rice to make raw cream of wheat or something similar.
I have been interested in alternate milks. I have only had regular cows milk and I drink 2% um for someone like me would this be an acquired taste? and is there something I can do to help transitioning to these other milks?
Why is rice milk bad for you????That's a new one..its rice and water...??? if you ever fed your baby the baby rice cereal it just has vitamins added to it..
I like his expression at the end.. mmm very good... without a smile.. hahahah
Many people have milk allergies as is the case with almost every autistic child. Some adults are also lactose intolerant. The milk reacts badly in the digestive tract causing many issues. Rice milk is a great alternative. Don't forget to add the essential vitamins A and D
The added versions of vitamin D are not nearly as good as the sun version...and it's free for the most part. The added vitamins for the most part just confuse the body, throwing the whole nutrition scale off, so one might want to stick with the more natural sources. (like fruits and vegetables [and nuts and seeds]).
Soy milk is not bad for you. Chemicals that go into nonorganic or packaged soymilk are bad for you. Asians have been using soymilk in healthy diets for thousands of years. Make your own (Look up a recipe) and you will have a healthier beverage than you can ever buy. Good luck!
I tried to drink soy milk and my throght was scratchy and I had started clearing it a lot using that noise like a 49 buick. I looked on internet and it said its one of top 5 allergies
Im pretty sure I heard you make that noise and i thought it was a 51 international but you may be correct..cuz a 49 ford broke down the other day in front of my house and i thought " is he drinking soy milk again"? but the sound just wasnt quite right
@click411 Yup Soy is a major allergy these days just like fish, eggs, cow's milk and peanuts. there are various theories on why people these days have so many food allergies compared to the thousands of years people had not. I have freinds who get stomach upset if they eat soy and friends that go to the emergency room if the eat nuts-It's very disturbing.
Thats one hell of a blender.

By the way your rice milk video is the BEST and well organized. Saw one where the person cooked the rice and for me that kills some of the nutrients.
